Intro
(30s) Al:
Hello Farmers and welcome to another episode of The Harvest Season. My name is Al and we’re
(35s) Chelsea:
My name is Chelsea.
(36s) Al:
here today to talk about cottagecore games. Woo. Chelsea’s back. Chelsea’s becoming the
(46s)
most common co-host apparently. Well let’s yeah let’s wait till we’ve got through the
(50s) Chelsea:
No emergencies this week for anybody, I hope.
(54s) Al:
episode before we decide that because I don’t think you were expecting at the beginning.
(58s) Chelsea:
No.
(1m 1s) Al:
Everyone is fine. Everyone is fine. There are no leftover problems so we’re all good.
(1m 10s)
This episode we’re going to talk about some demos. I played some demos. Chelsea played
(1m 14s)
some demos. We’re going to talk about those demos. Woo. Before that we have news but first
(1m 17s) Chelsea:
Yes.
What Have We Been Up To
(1m 21s) Al:
of all Chelsea what have you been up to?
(1m 23s) Chelsea:
Um, so I played a few demos, I went to a wedding last week, went to a baby shower,
(1m 29s)
uh, busy, busy time, and we got our Wii U back up and running, so we’ve been trying out some of
(1m 35s)
the older games there. Um, one of my favorites was WarioWare. I love those games, smooth moves,
(1m 40s) Al:
Ah.
(1m 41s)
Yeah.
(1m 42s)
Love a good WarioWare.
(1m 43s) Chelsea:
I was obsessed with that game, so we’re trying to just get back into the hang of that and
(1m 47s)
looking to get our rock band stuff set back, uh, set up back, which is more expensive now,
(1m 51s) Al:
Nice.
(1m 52s) Chelsea:
I wish we didn’t get rid of it, but when we moved, we were like, I don’t even want to look
(1m 55s)
at this stuff, even though we had a full attic that we could store it in, but now I’m trying to
(1m 59s)
find places to buy it and people, I guess, realize that they’re expensive now, so. But the new one’s
(2m 5s) Al:
Yeah it’s a different company, it’s a different game series. I can’t remember what it’s called.
(2m 18s) Chelsea:
Because it was Neversoft, right?
(2m 19s) Al:
So this, oh what’s it called? Stage Tour is the new one.
(2m 24s) Chelsea:
Oh, okay.
(2m 26s)
Make the kids emo again!
(2m 29s) Al:
Yeah I’m debating whether to get it or not. Obviously I want it but it is a lot of money,
(2m 33s)
It’s like a hundred and twenty pou-
(2m 35s)
pounds for the game and controller, and it’s like that is a lot of money, um, bought.
(2m 37s) Chelsea:
Oh, okay.
(2m 39s)
Yeah.
(2m 42s)
Apparently they made one on the 3DS, Guitar Hero, and I think I- That’s not the same thing!
(2m 47s) Al:
It had, yeah, it had like a little grip that you would put on to the 3DS and it had the
(2m 55s)
same five buttons, it’s just you held it like the 3DS, like a star. It’s very silly.
(3m 6s) Chelsea:
Oh my gosh, I couldn’t do it.
(3m 8s) Al:
I’m just looking up, apparently, so Stage Tour is being made by Red Octane, who wear
(3m 18s)
of Guitar Hero. But, well, it’s probably one of these things where, I think multiple people
(3m 19s) Chelsea:
Oh, okay. What am I thinking of Neversoft then?
(3m 23s)
What are they doing?
(3m 29s) Al:
have done these things. Yeah, Neversoft did Guitar Hero from 2007, Red Octane did, no
(3m 38s)
wait, yeah, so Red, oh it might be that they were both, so Red Octane produced it? I don’t
(3m 46s)
know what the difference is.
(3m 48s)
The new Red Octane is here. They’re both listed as having done Guitar Hero, but Red Octane are doing the new one, which is called Stage Tour.
(3m 51s) Chelsea:
Okay.
(3m 54s)
Alrighty.
(3m 57s) Al:
But I’m trying to figure out what the deal is because Red Octane was closed by Activision in 2010.
(4m 3s) Chelsea:
Come back to her.
(4m 3s) Al:
So a new Red Octane was opened.
(4m 18s)
In 2025, with the co-founders of Cracked, who they’re the ones that make the Nitro deck that I talk about.
(4m 28s)
They’re like the grip, the like controller grip for the Switch and Switch 2.
(4m 34s) Chelsea:
Yeah. Oh.
(4m 35s) Al:
And they also they’ve been making controllers for like Guitar Hero and Clone Hero and stuff like that for a long time.
(4m 44s)
They make a lot of accessories, so apparently they…
(4m 47s)
…started this new Red Octane with the former head and VP of operations at Blizzard reading the studio.
(4m 51s) Chelsea:
Interesting.
(4m 56s)
Oh my god.
(4m 58s)
Teenage me in shambles right now.
(5m)
All these, all these things together.
(5m 2s) Al:
So I wonder how they got the name from Activision?
(5m 6s) Chelsea:
I don’t know.
(5m 7s)
Tangent number one.
(5m 9s) Al:
Oh, in fact, the co-founders of Cracked, they were the co-founders of the original Red Octane,
(5m 14s)
so maybe they still owned the name.
(5m 18s)
So that explains why they then started making random guitar controllers because that’s
(5m 23s)
what they’d done.
(5m 24s) Chelsea:
[LAUGHS] Cool.
(5m 25s) Al:
Very interesting.
(5m 26s)
Anyway, I did not realize this, so this is, this is, the new ones are being made by the
(5m 32s)
original people who founded Red Octane and they were part of the team that did the original
(5m 39s)
guitar heroes, but presumably they don’t.
(5m 41s) Chelsea:
very cool would we consider that a cozy game because we could play it at home here with
(5m 46s)
your friends you could be nice and cozy with the fireplace on in the background
(5m 47s) Al:
Yeah, all right, cool, so yes, rock star, rock band, star, tour, guitar, hero.
(5m 56s) Chelsea:
yes
(5m 59s)
yes
(6m)
guitar star
(6m 3s)
what have you been up to, Al?
(6m 4s) Al:
What have I been up to?
(6m 5s)
Well, I have also been playing demos and I have started playing the new Wolverine game.
(6m 11s) Chelsea:
Oh, I’m curious for your thoughts on that one.
(6m 14s) Al:
Thoughts are mixed. I…
(6m 17s)
I enjoy the combat. The combat I think is very good. It’s very similar to the Spider-Man
(6m 24s)
combat. Obviously you don’t have webs but it still seems to get the speed of combat
(6m 31s)
down quite well. So I think it works quite well. But we’ll see how I feel by the end
(6m 36s)
of the game. I think the thing that most people seem to be getting caught up on this, if you
(6m 42s)
ignore the people who are like “Oh I can’t believe it’s really easy when you turn all
(6m 45s)
the settings to easy.
(6m 48s)
- If you ignore that,
(6m 50s)
I think most of the legitimate criticism
(6m 53s)
seems to be that it’s very linear
(6m 55s)
and that is frustrating some people.
(6m 58s)
And I get that.
(6m 59s)
I also agree that generally I prefer less linear games
(7m 4s)
in this sort of style.
(7m 5s)
I think it depends.
(7m 6s)
I like some linear games, I like some non-linear games.
(7m 9s)
I think the problem is this is a game being built
(7m 13s)
by the people who did “Spider-Man,”
(7m 14s)
And Spider-Man is, like, THE MOST OPEN GAME.
(7m 18s)
Like, if you’re thinking about a game that’s open…
(7m 19s) Chelsea:
I was gonna say, you cannot do the same game twice.
(7m 21s) Al:
Yeah, yeah, if you think of a game that is open world,
(7m 25s)
like, that is gonna be high up on the list of the most open.
(7m 28s)
And this is, like, so far down the list of open
(7m 32s)
that it’s basically levels, right?
(7m 34s)
Like, as you go through the game, you go to an area
(7m 38s)
and you have to progress through it to get to the end.
(7m 42s)
And there are things you can do along the way.
(7m 44s)
There’s, like, some secrets and stuff throughout the levels,
(7m 47s)
but you play level and then you continue on. I have not found a way as of yet to go back to previous
(7m 52s)
levels but I presume it will happen at some point, considering you can finish the level
(7m 56s)
without getting all of the collectibles and stuff. But I’m not a huge amount, I’m only
(8m 2s)
maybe like two and a bit hours into the game or something, trying to find time as you will
(8m 6s)
know is murder. So I’m not hugely through so I don’t know how far through that will
(8m 14s)
Unlock but yeah as I like I’m nearly finished the second level.
(8m 18s)
I’ve not seen any way to get through it back to the first level
(8m 22s)
As of yet, so I don’t know whether that’s possible whether you have to wait till you finish the game to go back
(8m 26s)
I don’t know
(8m 28s)
So I think I understand I totally understand why people don’t like that and personally I would prefer less of that
(8m 35s)
But here’s the thing. I don’t think this game would be fun being open-world because I like your
(8m 43s)
when you’re spider-man
(8m 46s)
You are whizzing around
(8m 47s)
the world super fast. You’re webbing around, you’re zooming around, it’s great. Wolverine just isn’t
(8m 54s)
as fast and isn’t as movable, right? Like, he’s never going to be as enjoyable to move around
(9m 1s)
as Spider-Man. And yes, I am a… exactly, exactly, exactly. And I understand that there are
(9m 4s) Chelsea:
Well, now you’re not climbing off the ceilings and…
(9m 10s) Al:
open world games where you are not, you know, whizzing around super fast, but they’re not as fun
(9m 15s)
In my opinion, so.
(9m 17s)
I don’t think I would enjoy this game as much if it was, if it was open world.
(9m 22s)
I understand people wanting it to be open world, I just, I don’t think I would enjoy
(9m 26s)
it as much.
(9m 27s)
That doesn’t mean that other people wouldn’t enjoy it more, but I don’t think I would enjoy
(9m 30s)
it as much if it was open world.
(9m 32s)
I think the level based thing works well for Wolverine, but I think, yeah, I do think that’s
(9m 33s) Chelsea:
Yeah.
(9m 37s)
Okay, so it’s a bit of a shock value going from Spider-Man to Wolverine expecting the similar experience.
(9m 42s) Al:
a big part of it.
(9m 44s)
Also the tutorial level is the most like.
(9m 47s)
Linear of linear things you can do and like it.
(9m 52s)
The the tutorial level does seem to whether you have the setting on on or off. It does seem to auto complete the quick time events. I don’t. It doesn’t seem to do that in other levels. I think it’s just because it’s a tutorial level, but obviously the tutorial levels quite big because it like all of these levels are quite large. They’re not like they’re not the size of like a, you know, a Mario one level.
(10m 16s)
that like think of them like
(10m 17s)
kind of mario odyssey style size of levels right they’re quite large they take you know you’re
(10m 23s) Chelsea:
Okay. Okay.
(10m 24s) Al:
it can take an hour or so to get through one of these levels they’re quite big
(10m 29s)
so I think because of the tutorial level being the most linear um like the second level i’m on
(10m 37s)
is much less linear than that um and that you can you know stop and do other things and like
(10m 43s)
find things along the way and there are secrets and stuff like that.
(10m 47s)
I think a lot of it is people, for some reason there are people who are going online and just
(10m 51s)
lying and saying “oh I don’t have this, I am on the hardest setting and I’m not dying” and you’re
(10m 56s)
like “no you’re clearly not on the hardest setting, I have died in this game, you are just actively
(11m 3s)
lying” and so there’s a bit of that, there’s a bit of people wanting it to fail because that’s
(11m 10s)
more fun for some people when things fail and you’re never going to get over that and I don’t
(11m 15s)
don’t really care, right? Like you can complain.
(11m 17s)
and all you want. You can, fine, whatever. And then there’s an aspect of it which is
(11m 22s)
totally legitimate, which is, this is just not what I wanted. And I think part of that
(11m 27s)
is because they announced this game without any indication as to what it was. They went,
(11m 30s)
“Hey, we’re making a Wolverine game. It’s the people who made Spider-Man. The people
(11m 33s)
who made Spider-Man are making a Wolverine game. And so of course those expectations
(11m 37s)
are going to come up. You’re never going to…” But I was always right from the start. I was
(11m 41s)
always like, okay, I’m excited, but also like, how is this going to work? Because you can’t
(11m 45s)
be as fluid.
(11m 47s)
and fast as Spider-Man. That’s just not how it works. And so I was always a little bit
(11m 52s)
wary about that. But yeah, it is what it is. I think if you don’t like this type of game,
(11m 59s)
if you don’t like a more linear game, which is the other thing as well, is there’s a lot
(12m 4s)
of cutscenes because it’s trying to tell a big story. And so I think maybe, you know,
(12m 12s)
This is a guesstimate, but in my two and a half hours of…
(12m 18s)
playing the game, there’s, I think, maybe been about half an hour of cutscenes.
(12m 22s)
Like, it’s quite a lot. And there’s obviously quite a lot of areas where it’s
(12m 28s)
kind of, you’re walking between areas to get the story, rather than, like,
(12m 32s)
the gameplay, and people don’t like that. And I get that. I totally get that.
(12m 36s)
So, I understand some of these… some of the criticisms of the game. I am still enjoying
(12m 41s)
myself. The combat is still fun. I’m intrigued to see where the story goes. It’s not like a typical
(12m 48s)
X-Men story I’m very interested to see where this is going because it’s like it’s just the setup is
(12m 53s)
very different from previous ones so I’m intrigued to see where it goes.
(12m 57s) Chelsea:
Oh, interesting. So, do you ride around on a bike, or do you just walk? Or run?
(13m) Al:
There are some there are some bike levels but it’s not like just in general so there’s some
(13m 4s) Chelsea:
Okay. Okay.
(13m 7s) Al:
levels where you’re on a bike and there’s some levels where you’re you’re kind of running around
(13m 11s)
you can run but yeah it’s just they’re not huge areas so it’s more about like
(13m 18s)
the area and you know killing the people right like it’s Wolverine the point is you’re stabbing
(13m 22s)
people in the face. So if you’re looking for a game that is you’re stabbing bad people in
(13m 24s) Chelsea:
You are slicing people open!
(13m 29s) Al:
the face with your adamantium claws then you that’s the game for you.
(13m 37s)
So yeah I think that’s I think that’s why. The other thing I want to talk about is Bad
(13m 41s)
Apples. Have you heard of Bad Apples? So this is a film this is a movie it’s got
(13m 48s)
Saoirse Ronan in it if you know who she is and she now you’re gonna wonder why I’m talking about this
(13m 50s) Chelsea:
Okay, yes, yes, yes.
(13m 55s) Al:
right but I’ll get to it I promise. So she plays a teacher who kidnaps a pupil
(14m 4s)
because he’s a terrible pupil she hates him he’s like bad to him like he you know you’re like he
(14m 8s)
pushes one of the other pupils down the stairs and stuff like that and so she kidnaps him and
(14m 15s)
and keeps him in her basement.
(14m 18s) Chelsea:
Okay.
(14m 18s) Al:
And you’re gonna ask, “Is this a comedy?”
(14m 22s)
Kind of.
(14m 24s)
I think it’s meant to be satire.
(14m 28s)
So it’s kind of got weird tonal differences.
(14m 30s)
But the reason why I’m talking about this
(14m 32s)
is a big part of the plot early on
(14m 35s)
is her playing Farming Simulator.
(14m 39s) Chelsea:
No way.
(14m 41s) Al:
She has one game for her to relax in.
(14m 42s) Chelsea:
Is that her coping mechanism?
(14m 45s) Al:
It’s Farming Simulator.
(14m 47s) Chelsea:
You see, you tied it in nicely.
(14m 48s) Al:
It’s absolutely fantastic.
(14m 51s)
It popped up, she sits down in front of her TV.
(14m 54s)
I couldn’t figure out which console it was.
(14m 58s)
I didn’t get a good look at the controller or the interface.
(15m 2s)
And she just pops up and it’s like,
(15m 3s)
“Oh, just sitting on a tractor with the machinery
(15m 9s) Chelsea:
[sob]
(15m 9s) Al:
“and plowing the field.”
(15m 11s)
And I was like, “This is hilarious.
(15m 13s)
“I love that.”
(15m 13s)
And of course.
(15m 18s)
And like she even says the name of it at one point.
(15m 20s)
So it’s very, very definitely that that’s what it is.
(15m 23s)
It’s just very funny.
(15m 24s)
I’ve never seen that be in, you know, in a film before.
(15m 29s)
It’s very funny.
(15m 30s) Chelsea:
[laughs]
(15m 31s) Al:
So there we are.
(15m 32s) Chelsea:
Incredible.
(15m 33s) Al:
And I did enjoy the film.
(15m 35s)
I thought it was very good.
(15m 37s)
It’s a little bit ridiculous, but I think it was very good.
(15m 42s)
And I laughed.
(15m 43s)
So there’s some level of comedy there.
(15m 46s)
There was a bit where I was laughing.
(15m 48s)
The ridiculousness of it, but yeah, there we go. That’s what we’ve been up to.
(15m 53s) Chelsea:
Interesting. Yeah. Woo.
(15m 56s) Al:
All right, let’s talk about some news. First up, Gaucho Origins.
Game News
Gaucho Origins
(16m) Al:
So this is the new game by the people who did Gaucho on the grasslands,
(16m 3s)
which is already out on Android, is now also out on iPhone and iPad.
(16m 8s)
So if you were wanting to play this game, but you don’t have an Android device, there you go.
(16m 13s)
You can get it on your iPhone.
(16m 15s)
Maybe we need to play it.
(16m 18s)
It’s for, yeah, yeah.
(16m 20s) Chelsea:
one that’s like four dollars yeah okay oh on sorry on computer it’s 25.99
(16m 22s) Al:
Next up.
(16m 24s)
Oh, no.
(16m 26s)
Yeah, it’s a different game.
(16m 28s)
The one on Steam is a different game, Gaucho on the grasslands.
(16m 32s)
Gaucho Origins is a mobile game specifically.
(16m 32s) Chelsea:
oh okay oh
(16m 34s) Al:
So, yeah, different, different game.
(16m 36s)
Next up, Moonlight and Garland have released a 2.0.0 M update.
Moonlight In Garland
(16m 42s) Al:
I think the M stands for mini-map.
(16m 44s)
map because they’ve released a mini-map in the game
(16m 49s)
And also you get a birthday gift on your birthday
(16m 53s) Chelsea:
Oh, cute.
(16m 54s) Al:
That’s it
(16m 56s) Chelsea:
That’s it.
(16m 57s)
You get a map and a birthday gift.
(16m 58s) Al:
Next up the ranchers have kind of summarized a bunch of small updates
The Ranchers
(17m 2s) Al:
They’ve been doing since release and called it foundations update part one
(17m 5s)
So they kind of list all the things that are in there
(17m 8s)
I I don’t think there’s any huge things that would make sense to talk about if you’ve not played the game
(17m 14s)
But I think if you tried the game on release day, and you’re like, oh, there’s a bunch of
(17m 18s)
stuff that just doesn’t feel right, this might have addressed that, because there’s a lot
(17m 21s)
of quality of life improvements and stuff like that, so. Yes, please do.
(17m 23s) Chelsea:
Can I please just read this one and animals now stay sick for longer before dying
(17m 27s) Al:
Good. Rip. Speaking of small updates, Tiny Eden have
(17m 31s) Chelsea:
Giving you much more time to react and visit the veterinarian. So I guess before they just kind of like collapsed and that was it
(17m 40s)
Yeah rip
Tiny Eden
(17m 44s) Al:
released 9 updates since their initial release.
(17m 48s)
which was on the 7th of September.
(17m 51s)
So they are zooming through their updates.
(17m 54s)
Update one added save compatibility,
(17m 56s)
gameplay and quests and localization.
(17m 58s)
Update two changed some controls,
(18m 1s)
and audio and localization.
(18m 4s)
Three was changes to cooking, gardening, progression,
(18m 8s)
and more localization.
(18m 10s)
Update four added a field of view setting,
(18m 14s)
some improvements to drones.
(18m 17s)
Update five added some.
(18m 18s)
Some changes to the UI controls, drones and quests fixes.
(18m 22s)
Update six added a bunch of bug fixes for crashes and some changes to the game pad and
(18m 28s)
quest progression.
(18m 30s)
Update seven fixed a bunch of issues with the cafe and kitchen and also quests, drones,
(18m 35s)
orders and more.
(18m 36s)
Update eight added a way to report bugs and some fixes to drones, trading and more.
(18m 42s)
And update nine has added a fully reworked garden beds, safer save handling.
(18m 48s)
Which we all love.
(18m 50s)
And improved laboratory cut scene, new drone screens, performance improvements.
(18m 55s)
And I know, madness.
(18m 56s) Chelsea:
And if you look at the dates it’s crazy it’s all within like a week of each other.
(19m 1s) Al:
So there you are.
(19m 2s)
They are zooming through that.
(19m 4s)
So if you’ve complained about something in Tiny Eden, it may well already be fixed.
(19m 10s) Chelsea:
A totally different game by now.
(19m 11s) Al:
Well, it mostly sounds like bug fixes and quality of life improvements rather than,
(19m 16s)
you know, big, big changes, but.
(19m 18s)
- Yeah.
Village In The Shade
(19m 20s) Al:
And our final game update news
(19m 23s)
is for Village in the Shade.
(19m 25s)
So as a reminder, this is the game
(19m 28s)
where their English version is coming out
(19m 30s)
on the 27th of October.
(19m 32s)
They have announced that they are releasing
(19m 36s)
some free updates and some paid DLC.
(19m 40s)
The free updates will include new furniture,
(19m 42s)
new livestock, and a farmland expansion,
(19m 45s)
The new livestock being silky chickens,
(19m 48s)
mallards, fluffy cows and spotted goats.
(19m 51s) Chelsea:
adorable. They look like they have little afros, the cows.
(19m 58s) Al:
The paid DLC will include, they say, new mechanics, scenarios, maps and other unique
(20m 4s)
events.
(20m 5s)
I think this is a translation thing, because it’s like, scenario, I think is like, quests?
(20m 11s) Chelsea:
That’s what I was thinking like we’re gonna put you in some new scenarios to figure out
(20m 12s) Al:
Yeah, it sounds so much like, this is the technical translation.
(20m 18s)
The free updates will be coming on the 29th of September and the 27th of October.
(20m 21s) Chelsea:
Yes
(20m 25s)
Right all the graphics are
(20m 33s) Al:
I guess the second free update is the one that comes with the English language update.
(20m 37s)
And the paid DLC will be coming out in spring of next year.
(20m 41s) Chelsea:
Oh, is this that horror game that Kevin and I talked about?
(20m 43s) Al:
I mean, there’s lots of them, but yes, I think this one is.
(20m 44s) Chelsea:
The one that looks really cute and then.
(20m 48s)
OK, yeah, I think it was this one, OK.
(20m 48s) Al:
This is the one that says, “Just make sure you follow the rules or else.”
(20m 51s) Chelsea:
I don’t think fluffy cows are going to make me come to this game.
(20m 57s) Al:
So they’ve also announced a deluxe edition you can buy now, which includes a soundtrack
(20m 58s) Chelsea:
OK, yeah, yeah, yeah, gotcha.
(21m 5s) Al:
and an art book for the game.
(21m 8s)
I will not be doing that, because I sometimes do that with games if they’re really cheap
(21m 12s)
and I’ve been enjoying the game and I want to give them a bit more money, but this game
(21m 15s)
is 50 quid.
(21m 17s)
So, I don’t–
(21m 18s)
I don’t think I need to give them more money.
(21m 19s)
I think 50 quid will be enough.
New Games
(21m 24s) Al:
All right.
(21m 25s)
We’ve got some new games to talk about as well,
(21m 27s)
which Chelsea has thoughts on.
(21m 29s) Chelsea:
Oh, okay.
(21m 29s) Al:
First up, first up, we have–
(21m 32s)
Just get–
(21m 33s)
Save your opinion for once I explain.
Welcome To Elderfield
(21m 36s) Al:
First up, we have “Welcome to Elderfield.”
(21m 38s)
So, this is out now.
(21m 39s)
It came out last week.
(21m 41s)
“Welcome to Elderfield, a cozy horror RPG
(21m 44s)
with hand-drawn art and dark lo-fi music.
(21m 48s)
Befriend or romance the locals.
(21m 50s)
Investigate mysteries.
(21m 51s)
Decorate your home.
(21m 52s)
Fight terrifying creatures.
(21m 54s)
Fish, cook.
(21m 56s)
Seek the old gods.
(21m 57s)
Die in your sleep and more.”
(22m)
There’s lots to do in Elderfield.
(22m 3s) Chelsea:
Just throw that in there, die in your sleep!
(22m 4s) Al:
I love how it’s like, “Oh, manage a farm.
(22m 9s)
Befriend or romance the locals.
(22m 10s)
Investigate mysteries.
(22m 11s)
Decorate your home.
(22m 12s)
Fight terrifying creatures.
(22m 14s)
Fish, cook.
(22m 15s) Chelsea:
Fish? Cook?
(22m 16s) Al:
Seek the old gods.
(22m 18s)
Die in your sleep.”
(22m 20s)
It’s like just sandwiching some nice stuff
(22m 22s) Chelsea:
Oh.
(22m 22s) Al:
in amongst some horrifying stuff.
(22m 25s) Chelsea:
God, this looks terrifying, like, I had my- my Apple Watch on, and then as I’m watching the trailer I get the, like,
(22m 31s)
your heart rate is elevated.
(22m 32s) Al:
Oh no, we’re killing Chelsea. Look, I don’t know whether you ever heard the one, oh what
(22m 34s) Chelsea:
‘Cause I am just such a wuss. I am such a wuss.
(22m 42s) Al:
was it called? Pumpkin Panic was it? Pumpkin Panic, yeah. That was one we did for Halloween
(22m 48s)
a few years ago and it was me and Kelly I think who did it. This one is a roguelite
(22m 55s)
but it’s like you’re farming but there’s also monsters nearby and sometimes they just come
(22m 59s)
and kill you and if you manage if you
(23m 1s) Chelsea:
Oh. Oh my god. Absolutely not.
(23m 2s) Al:
manage to get back to your house they’re just like smashing on the door trying to get in
(23m 8s)
it’s just the most horrifying thing because it’s like you’re always you’re basically on a timer
(23m 15s)
and eventually you will be killed if you don’t manage to escape the garden
(23m 19s)
um but yeah it’s and it’s like the lights when it gets dark you’ve just got this tiny
(23m 24s)
little light that you’re walking with and then you just see shadows coming it is horrifying
(23m 28s) Chelsea:
Holy crap.
(23m 31s)
Uh, did you watch the trailer for Elderfield? Because, like, the-
(23m 33s) Al:
it does look pretty scary as well it’s I don’t think it’s on the same level um but yeah
(23m 39s) Chelsea:
Okay. Okay, I’m gonna look at the other one, then.
(23m 42s)
You can call me a coward!
(23m 45s)
Okay, as soon as I had kids, I was no longer interested in any horror thing.
(23m 49s) Al:
[laughing]
(23m 50s) Chelsea:
I don’t need my kids possessed. I don’t need to be fighting criminals away from my house.
(23m 55s)
No, thank you.
(23m 57s) Al:
- Yeah, yeah, when we had kids Rhona,
(24m)
suddenly just couldn’t deal with any film
(24m 2s)
that has like kids in distress.
(24m 4s)
She was like, “Nope, nope.”
(24m 5s) Chelsea:
yeah like uh paranormal activity throw the kid away
(24m 7s) Al:
- Oh, dear.
(24m 11s) Chelsea:
oh my gosh credit to them though because it looks amazing I just I i can’t I could not
(24m 12s) Al:
- Yeah, I think.
(24m 17s)
It looks interesting.
(24m 18s)
It’s got very positive reviews.
(24m 19s)
82.95% on SteamDB rating.
(24m 24s)
and it’s over 1,500.
(24m 28s)
So it’s doing well, it’s selling well and reviewing well.
(24m 37s)
It is currently 10% off for release and, yeah, that’s the thing.
(24m 43s) Chelsea:
Oh my god, I just looked it up on the Reddit, and there’s a picture of this evil demonic
(24m 43s) Al:
It says, “Cosy distractions from the horrors around you.”
(24m 52s) Chelsea:
cow and it says “thank you for milking me” and they say that’s enough Elderfeel for the
(24m 56s)
day.
(24m 57s) Al:
[laughs]
(24m 57s) Chelsea:
Okay, I’m not doing any more research than that.
(25m 1s) Al:
Oh, dear.
Ethra
(25m 2s) Al:
Next up, we have “Ethra.”
(25m 4s)
So this is a game on Kickstarter, the Kickstarter’s up now.
(25m 7s)
It has 19 days to go and it has hit its goal.
(25m 11s)
It’s nearly, it’s not far off double its goal, so that’s good.
(25m 15s)
It says, “Ethra, a 3D pixel art open-world RPG.
(25m 19s)
Adventure RPG game featuring pixel art in a 3D world.
(25m 22s)
Fight, explore…”
(25m 25s)
I don’t like the grammar here.
(25m 27s)
“Fight, explore, farming.”
(25m 29s)
You’ve changed how you’re defining these words
(25m 33s)
halfway through the sentence.
(25m 34s)
“Fight, explore, farm,” or “fighting, exploring, farming.”
(25m 35s) Chelsea:
Farm, yeah.
(25m 37s)
Yep.
(25m 38s) Al:
[sighs]
(25m 39s)
“Trading, economy, crafting, and more.”
(25m 42s)
There’s always got to be more.
(25m 43s) Chelsea:
Could you be more vague than trading economy?
(25m 44s) Al:
“Ethra…”
(25m 45s)
[laughs]
(25m 46s)
Yeah.
(25m 47s)
“Ethra is a 3D pixel art open-world RPG
(25m 50s)
with a heavy focus on exploration and combat
(25m 52s)
where you play two protagonists together
(25m 54s)
on a journey across the continent
(25m 57s)
to find your old lie.
(25m 58s)
You will play as Bob, a farm boy
(26m)
searching for a more interesting life,
(26m 2s)
and Vale, a lost child of a rare species
(26m 4s)
with a natural affinity with magic.
(26m 7s)
Together, you will explore the continent
(26m 9s)
filled with ruins, towns, rumours, quests, and trouble
(26m 13s)
that keeps finding them along the way.”
(26m 15s) Chelsea:
Yeah it looks really cool combining the multiple art styles.
(26m 18s) Al:
Yeah, um…
(26m 20s)
It’s interesting ‘cause it’s not like…
(26m 23s)
When I first read it, I thought it would be
(26m 25s)
kind of Paper Mario-esque, but it’s not.
(26m 27s)
It’s very much a fully 3D world. And your character is 2D-mapped onto that. It’s very weird.
(26m 30s) Chelsea:
Yeah, it’s really really cool
(26m 37s)
Yeah, I find it may make me motion sick if I try it, but no, it looks cool.
(26m 44s) Al:
Yeah, maybe it’s for you, listener.
(26m 46s) Chelsea:
Could be for you, just like Elderfield.
(26m 49s) Al:
Next up, Voltaire the Vegan Vampire.
Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire
(26m 53s) Al:
Vampire. So, apparently I missed this when this came out on Steam. It came out on Steam
(26m 57s)
in 2023, three years ago, and it released on Switch in 2024. It is now coming to PlayStation
(27m 4s)
and Xbox on the 30th of September this year. And I don’t know how I missed it at the time.
(27m 9s)
Rebel against, sorry, rebel? Rebel against your legacy. That’s just the perfect case
(27m 14s)
of an English word, two English words that are spelled the same. Rebel against your legacy
(27m 19s)
in this farming action roguelite. Tend your spooky farm by day and defend your crops from
(27m 27s)
creepers at night. Upgrade Voltaire, youngest son of Dracula, with devious new abilities
(27m 32s)
and discover dozens of new plants to cultivate. Send Dad a message, a vegan life is no missed
(27m 38s)
steak. Chelsea, if we had a pound for every game that we’ve talked about this month where
(27m 45s)
you play the child of Dracula, we would have two pounds. Which is very weird.
(27m 49s) Chelsea:
I don’t know, it’s… that’s a very specific thing to go after.
(27m 57s) Al:
Because what are the chances? That would be interesting. Where’s the Voltaire and Moonlight
(28m 1s) Chelsea:
Maybe they’re siblings.
(28m 3s)
Oh yeah, yeah, I didn’t even realize this game, but yeah, it’s several years old.
(28m 13s) Al:
but now it’s coming to Xbox and PlayStation.
(28m 16s)
I’m trying to figure out where the rogue-lite part of it.
(28m 20s) Chelsea:
See, I see the name and I want to say “Volitaire,” like “Solitaire.”
(28m 25s) Al:
No, there’s no second vowel there.
(28m 27s) Chelsea:
No.
(28m 29s) Al:
Voltaire.
(28m 30s) Chelsea:
But see, they could have the minigame, like they do in Moonlight Peaks,
(28m 30s) Al:
No, I can’t.
(28m 33s) Chelsea:
where you have the card game.
(28m 34s)
They could have had another minigame in this one with cards.
(28m 35s) Al:
Ha.
(28m 36s)
Ha.
(28m 37s)
I’m guessing you just can die,
(28m 38s)
and if you die, you have to restart, maybe?
(28m 41s)
‘Cause it looks like there’s a,
(28m 43s)
defend the crops against Dracula’s army of ghoulish minions,
(28m 46s)
hell-bent on denying Voltaire his hard-earned oatmeal shake.
(28m 50s)
Embrace vampiric dark powers
(28m 53s)
to defeat the bosses sent by Dracula.
(28m 55s)
When his lesser minions fail, overcome Dracula’s power and inherit his reign through much greener
(29m 1s)
means.
(29m 2s)
Yeah, don’t sweat it, there’s always a chance to try dieting again this time with new knowledge
(29m 7s)
and abilities.
(29m 8s)
So yeah, I suspect you’d just prevail over every metaphorical pickle Voltaire may find
(29m 13s)
himself in or risk the temptation of his bloodlust munching on a neck or two.
(29m 17s)
So you fail if you drink someone’s blood? Maybe?
(29m 23s) Chelsea:
Interesting- okay, that’s a high stakes game.
(29m 25s) Al:
Yeah, well, there you go. Ha ha haaaaaa! And finally, we have Bokumono, this is the story
(29m 29s) Chelsea:
Get it? Like vampire steak? Ha ha ha!
(29m 32s)
[laughs]
Story Of Seasons: Your Wonderful Life
(29m 38s) Al:
of seasons, or, you know, what originally was called Harvest Moon. Bokumono have announced,
(29m 44s)
well, it’s marvellous, have announced that there’s a new Bokumono game. Always has to
(29m 48s)
be confusing. And this is, we don’t know for certain what this would be called in English,
(29m 48s) Chelsea:
[chuckles]
(29m 53s) Al:
But the translation seems to be…
(29m 55s)
The Story of Seasons, Your Wonderful Life, and this is a mixed reality game.
(30m)
So, uh, you know, like, where they augment - I - here’s - okay - here’s a little - here’s
(30m 9s)
a little rant from me for today.
(30m 11s)
Here’s - uh - here’s what I’m going to give.
(30m 12s)
Mixed reality seems to be a term that people created because they didn’t want to use augmented
(30m 18s)
reality.
(30m 19s)
What seemed - what I find annoying, right, is you - you - you had virtual reality, which
(30m 25s)
is a headset, and you’re completely within this virtual reality.
(30m 28s)
You’re not seeing anything of the outside world.
(30m 30s)
And then there’s augmented reality, which is where you have reality, but then you have
(30m 33s)
stuff on top of that.
(30m 34s)
It’s augmented.
(30m 35s)
The reality has been augmented.
(30m 37s)
Now, what’s - yes, like Pokemon Go, but also like some things with virtual reality headsets
(30m 44s)
where they put things on top of the world, right?
(30m 47s)
So like, there was a game I played a while ago - I can’t remember what it was called
(30m 49s)
- where I had little farms in my office on the virtual reality headset.
(30m 55s)
It was.
(30m 56s) Chelsea:
Oh, that’s so cool!
(30m 58s) Al:
It was really fun.
(30m 59s)
But what seems to annoy me is people seem to not understand what augmented reality is,
(31m 4s)
and then created this term called mixed reality, which is just the same as augmented reality,
(31m 10s)
because what mixed reality is, is the world, but also other stuff on top of that, which
(31m 15s)
you might understand as the description I just gave for augmented reality.
(31m 19s)
So I don’t understand why we are, like, creating this new term, which is - because people always
(31m 25s)
associate augmented reality as being a cross between virtual reality and augmented reality.
(31m 27s)
But what is that?
(31m 29s)
What is a cross between virtual reality, which is where there is no real world, and augmented
(31m 35s)
reality, which is real world and not real world?
(31m 38s)
How is there a cross between that?
(31m 40s)
That’s called augmented reality.
(31m 43s) Chelsea:
Exactly.
(31m 43s) Al:
So I can’t - I cannot for the life of me figure out whether people just decided to rename
(31m 49s)
augmented reality to mixed reality, or whether they just truly didn’t understand what augmented
(31m 53s)
reality was and…
(31m 55s)
tried to create a new thing, but it’s the same thing.
(31m 57s) Chelsea:
Yeah, because that seems like the same thing to me.
(32m) Al:
So there’s my complaint. Anyway, so, mixed reality, augmented reality, whatever.
(32m 6s)
This is a game where you seem to overlay a farm on top of your real world.
(32m 11s)
What we’re not sure about is whether this is like a phone game or whether it’s for, you know,
(32m 17s)
virtual reality headsets.
(32m 20s) Chelsea:
I can’t imagine playing that, like Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons on a VR set.
(32m 27s) Al:
I mean, it depends what it is, right? We don’t know what the gameplay will look like. It’s not
(32m 29s) Chelsea:
Yeah, yeah.
(32m 30s) Al:
going to be like a normal Story of Seasons game, right? It’s not going to be story-heavy or
(32m 36s)
something. I suspect it will be much like the game that I played a while ago, which is laying things
(32m 40s)
on top of the world and having a little farm that you can just come back to every so often.
(32m 45s)
Something like that, I suspect, but we really don’t know.
(32m 47s) Chelsea:
That also confuses me, because I have a wonderful life already, Story of Seasons.
(32m 51s) Al:
This is your wonderful life. Your, your wonderful life.
(32m 53s) Chelsea:
YOUR wonderful life. No one else’s. Yours. Your wonderful life.
(32m 57s) Al:
Because it’s yours. It’s your own. Now, the reason, the reason why I wonder whether this
(32m 59s) Chelsea:
It’s yours! You’re not playing…
(33m 5s) Al:
will be a virtual reality headset thing is because, if you have a look in the article I posted,
(33m 10s)
the image that they use has a, like a, what’s it called, a hand, but it’s not a real hand.
(33m 21s)
It’s clearly a virtual hand and that kind of looks, it doesn’t look exactly the same,
(33m 28s)
but it kind of looks like when you have a Metaquest headset on and you have your hands out,
(33m 34s)
it, like, creates an outline of your hands and it kind of looks like that.
(33m 39s)
And that’s obviously not something you would have on a mobile app if you were doing something like
(33m 45s)
that. So, I, I mean, people are talking about phones and stuff like that. I have a feeling
(33m 52s)
it’s not going to be for phones and it’s going to be for headsets instead.
(33m 57s)
But we shall see. We don’t know. They haven’t given us any information. This one screenshot
(34m 1s)
is all we have. Don’t know when it’s coming out, what it is, how much it is,
(34m 4s) Chelsea:
Lots of speculation in there.
(34m 6s) Al:
what it’s for, anything like that. But when has that ever stopped us?
(34m 11s) Chelsea:
We can speculate.
(34m 13s) Al:
So, yeah, we’ll see. They have confirmed that this is not the game that they already showed
(34m 19s)
a little bit of in the anniversary video last month. So, there is a traditional
(34m 25s)
Story of Seasons game still coming, this is not insta-
(34m 28s)
This is not the new Story of Seasons, it is a side game of some kind.
(34m 33s) Chelsea:
Okay. It is important.
(34m 34s) Al:
Which is important to some people.
(34m 37s) Chelsea:
You don’t want that to be your big announcement.
(34m 40s) Al:
Yeah, it’s an interesting idea of doing something different,
(34m 43s)
but that’s not going to make you money.
(34m 45s) Chelsea:
No. Woohoo! Yes.
(34m 46s) Al:
All right, that’s the news.
Demos
(34m 49s) Al:
Let us talk about some demos.
(34m 50s)
So I played three demos.
(34m 52s)
When I say played, I don’t really mean I played three demos.
(34m 57s)
I want to talk about the first two demos that I “played” with heavy quotation marks.
Mayday: The Survival Island
(35m 4s) Al:
First up was Mayday, the Survival Island.
(35m 7s)
I’m really intrigued by this game still.
(35m 9s)
This has not stopped me being interested in this game.
(35m 12s)
But I tried to play this demo on my, you know, my portable, my not Steam Deck.
(35m 21s)
And it didn’t work.
(35m 22s)
It just, it loaded up the game and there was no controller input whatsoever.
(35m 26s)
It just wouldn’t work.
(35m 27s)
So I don’t know what the problem with this is.
(35m 30s)
I don’t know whether it’s a weird settings thing or what,
(35m 34s)
because the game on Steam says it supports controllers,
(35m 38s)
and it specifically says it supports my controller,
(35m 40s)
which the setting there uses my controller
(35m 42s)
that is on my device.
(35m 44s)
It says that it should work.
(35m 46s)
And the demo specifically says
(35m 48s)
it supports controllers as well,
(35m 50s)
but it clearly didn’t work.
(35m 51s)
So I don’t know what the deal is there,
(35m 53s)
whether there’s a bug
(35m 54s)
or whether there’s some weird settings thing
(35m 57s)
that I don’t know about in my device.
(35m 58s)
I don’t know what the deal is with that.
(36m 1s) Chelsea:
Mm-hmm.
(36m 2s) Al:
But all I know is it didn’t work.
(36m 5s) Chelsea:
That’s frustrating.
(36m 5s) Al:
So that’s why I say played with heavy quotation marks,
(36m 9s)
because I loaded up the game
(36m 10s)
and I literally could do nothing.
(36m 12s) Chelsea:
Ah, no.
(36m 13s) Al:
Because the touchscreen wasn’t working either,
(36m 15s)
which quite often the touchscreen works
(36m 18s)
instead of like a mouse or keyboard.
(36m 20s)
So that wasn’t even working either.
(36m 22s)
So I don’t know what the deal is there.
Cropia
(36m 25s) Al:
Next up, I played Cropia.
(36m 27s)
This game did work, and did play,
(36m 30s)
but unfortunately, I did not enjoy it.
(36m 33s)
So it’s a 3D game,
(36m 39s)
the graphics is very kind of,
(36m 41s)
what’s the word I’m looking for?
(36m 44s)
Polygonal?
(36m 46s) Chelsea:
Okay. Yeah.
(36m 46s) Al:
You know, like the 3D version of pixelated.
(36m 49s)
It’s clearly very specific in its art style.
(36m 52s)
I was not a fan of how, like, the controller,
(36m 55s)
that the character moved.
(36m 57s)
and the controls and stuff like that. It felt like it could be good, but there’s a lot of
(37m 3s)
missing quality of life improvements that just made me very frustrated with this game.
(37m 9s)
So, like, for example, you have a hotbar, like you have in Stardew, but it’s like a five-click
(37m 19s)
process to add things into the hotbar, which was very frustrating. The hotbar is like a different
(37m 27s)
actual bag, but actually trying to move things between the two was very frustrating. And like
(37m 33s)
your overall storage was quite, it’s just lots of little things like that, you know, that can be very
(37m 38s)
frustrating. So I reckon if they, if they fixed that up and they made like the the actual experience
(37m 45s)
of using the game, that I would definitely get back into this and try it more because I’m intrigued
(37m 51s)
by what it’s doing. It has like a big, did you ever play My Time at Portia?
(37m 57s) Chelsea:
No, I haven’t, but I heard that their UI is a bit better than what you’re explaining.
(37m 57s) Al:
So it was, yeah, so it was big on crafting but what I didn’t like about its crafting is like
(38m 6s)
you show like this weird 3D thing that you’re crafting and you have to like,
(38m 12s)
in the game, you have to like align the pieces that you’re putting into the crafting machine
(38m 17s)
in 3D and I really did not like that. Some people really did. I did not like that at all.
(38m 18s) Chelsea:
Oh, okay.
(38m 23s) Al:
This feels like it’s doing that, but…
(38m 27s)
less. So it’s like, you’ve got this big crafting machine, but you just click on it, you throw the
(38m 33s)
stuff in, and it crafts it. You don’t have to physically make them move into the right space.
(38m 39s) Chelsea:
Oh, it’s like a minigame within it.
(38m 41s) Al:
Yeah, exactly, it feels better to me. So I’m intrigued with what it’s doing,
(38m 46s)
but they need to do a lot of work on how the game actually plays, I think, before it’s good.
(38m 55s) Chelsea:
How long did you play for?
(38m 56s) Al:
Maybe an hour?
(38m 57s)
Something like that? Definitely enough to know that I couldn’t keep playing it.
(38m 58s) Chelsea:
Okay.
(39m 2s)
Okay, you gave it a fair chance then.
(39m 3s) Al:
Yeah, I think so. I think so. So it’s been out for about a month and they’ve had it.
(39m 10s)
Like it’s been in 1.0 for a month and they have released an update. So I don’t know,
(39m 17s)
maybe they’ll add some more. I feel like the fact that it was in early access for so long
(39m 21s)
makes me think that maybe they won’t because I feel like they would have dealt with these things.
(39m 27s)
It’s also possible that these issues are only in the demo and not in the main game.
(39m 32s) Chelsea:
Yeah, maybe. Okay.
(39m 32s) Al:
I don’t know when the demo was last updated. Last updated April of this year.
(39m 37s)
So you would think so. It first came out in October last year. I don’t know. This is the
(39m 42s)
problem though. If you’ve got a demo, you’ve got to make sure it’s up to date for the game because
(39m 46s)
like if the game’s like the demo, I don’t want to play it. But if the game is better than the
(39m 50s)
demo, then maybe I do. But I don’t want to buy just in case, you know. So there we are. Right,
(39m 57s)
my third game later. I want Chelsea to talk about her first.
Danchi Days
(40m 4s) Chelsea:
So the first one I played is Danchi Days.
(40m 8s)
Loved it.
(40m 9s)
It has Game Boy Advance graphics that you play on the PC,
(40m 13s)
and you basically play as this little girl who moves back
(40m 17s)
to the Danchi, which is like a community apartment
(40m 21s)
sort of building in Japan.
(40m 23s)
But your grandmother has dementia.
(40m 26s)
So right off the bat, I’m like, oh, great.
(40m 27s) Al:
Uh-oh, here we go!
(40m 27s) Chelsea:
I’m going to cry.
(40m 29s)
Great start.
(40m 30s)
Great start.
(40m 31s)
Yeah.
(40m 32s)
Great game to play when you’re in a terrible-
(40m 34s)
-head space. But no, so basically the thing that kept the community thriving when your grandmother was younger was this summer festival.
(40m 44s)
And you think, “Oh, in order to cure my grandma’s dementia, I’m going to host this festival again.” And you get help from this god that’s like a cat bee, and apparently he used to know your grandmother and they used to run the festival together.
(40m 59s)
So you basically go around the community inviting the in the demo. Anyway, you go around inviting
(41m 4s)
neighbors to this festival and you have to do little tasks for them in order for them to RSVP and some of them will only RSVP through your computer, because it’s, I guess it takes place a little sooner, like earlier in the times.
(41m 19s)
But, so like emails like this big new thing. And then you can go to different parts of the map, and you do almost Tai Chi to use your senses, and you play these mini games for these people.
(41m 31s)
But, yeah, I think the full demo was amazing.
(41m 34s)
It’s about 90 minutes, and you can invite 10, 10 residents, and they all have different personalities and it is so heartfelt and you can do flashbacks to when the community was thriving and stuff and it’s just, it’s very very emotional.
(41m 49s)
But it’s great the graphics are great the dialogue is very charming.
(41m 53s)
I really enjoyed it. So I’m excited for it to be released. I think it’s October.
(41m 58s) Al:
Yes, the 29th of October, so.
(41m 58s) Chelsea:
October 29. Yes, yes. So no I recommend it, but it’s very heartfelt.
(42m 3s) Al:
Okay.
(42m 5s) Chelsea:
Have you looked at it at all? Have you tried it at all?
(42m 7s) Al:
I haven’t tried it, no, I’ve looked at it.
(42m 10s)
I don’t know if it’s for me.
(42m 11s)
It feels, I suspect, so it feels very much like,
(42m 17s)
what was the other one that I played,
(42m 18s)
which was my summer vacation or something like that?
(42m 22s)
It’s kind of a standard Japanese trope of like,
(42m 28s)
summer holidays and you’re doing stuff.
(42m 30s) Chelsea:
Okay. Yeah.
(42m 32s) Al:
And I find that those games, for me,
(42m 37s)
feel a bit directionless.
(42m 40s)
How did it feel in terms of where to go?
(42m 43s)
And I know this is a lot, this sounds ridiculous
(42m 47s)
coming from someone who got into this genre
(42m 49s)
through Stardew, the ultimate directionless game.
(42m 53s)
But tell me, how did it feel?
(42m 54s)
Did you feel like you had a clear direction to go?
(42m 58s)
Or was it just like, ‘Hey, here’s a million things, which one do you want to do?’
(43m 1s) Chelsea:
Now I felt like there was pretty direct because some put some characters you could only invite after you’ve done certain tasks for other ones
(43m 8s)
And then you could ask your cappy friend for hints of like who should I go see so there is a plot driven for that
(43m 16s)
But there’s no rush really
(43m 18s)
To end your day like you don’t end your day until you do your tasks for that day
(43m 23s)
And then you go to bed because you’re tired
(43m 26s)
But yeah, it can be open-ended I would say a little bit, but again, it’s hard to tell by the demo
(43m 31s)
But you can a lot of the map was blocked off, too
(43m 35s)
But yeah, I felt like I had a sense of what I had to do I
(43m 40s)
Feel like as the game opens up, you’ll just kind of be thrown into whatever you want
(43m 45s)
But yeah from the demo is pretty directive just to get a hang of the the concepts of the game
(43m 52s) Al:
Yeah, yeah, how did it feel control-wise?
(43m 55s) Chelsea:
I was pretty good. Um, I
(43m 58s)
Did I play on there? No, I played on keyboard
(44m 1s)
It was pretty easy, you just use X to open your stuff, and you just use the direction pad
(44m 6s)
There’s not a ton of controls that you need to do, even for the mini-games, it’s like
(44m 10s)
Make this grid move onto this side of the grid, or move this item, so there wasn’t a lot of directions you could really go
(44m 17s)
So I felt pretty smooth
(44m 19s) Al:
Fair enough. Any complaints?
(44m 21s) Chelsea:
I don’t know, well, no, I’ve wanted more, but it’s a demo, right? So it’s hard, like, so much
(44m 26s) Al:
Oh, come on. Your only complaint can’t be “I want more”. That’s such a boring complaint, Chelsea.
(44m 32s) Chelsea:
I feel like if you’re
(44m 33s) Al:
Yes, the game was perfect. It just wasn’t enough.
(44m 37s) Chelsea:
Yeah, no, I found the mini-games, maybe, I’m totally contradicting myself, but there was a little bit of confusion on what the directions were
(44m 46s)
And there are some parts that were locked behind achievements, I’ll say, so you get these things called sense stars
(44m 52s)
So you’ll play the mini-game, and if you do it in a certain amount of steps, you get points, and then those points help unlock other parts of the map
(44m 59s)
of the map. So I wish that
(45m 2s)
was just a bit more clear. But yeah, a lot of the map was
(45m 5s)
blocked off, unfortunately, which I know is common in a
(45m 9s)
demo. But yes, no, I do want more. That’s really promising.
(45m 13s)
But they put a lot of effort into it. So I can’t wait to see
Farm 7 Feast
(45m 18s) Al:
All right. Well, the final demo for this episode is Farm and Feast, which I believe Chelsea played
(45m 24s) Chelsea:
[laughs]
(45m 26s) Al:
as well. I don’t know how much you played, though. Did you get to the end of the demo?
(45m 27s) Chelsea:
Yeah.
(45m 29s)
No.
(45m 30s) Al:
No. That’s fine. I did. I did, yeah. And, well, let’s just put it this way. I hit the end of the
(45m 32s) Chelsea:
You did?
(45m 38s) Al:
demo, and I went, “Oh, I want to keep playing!” So, yeah. So, that will tell you how I feel about
(45m 40s) Chelsea:
There you go, that’s promising.
(45m 47s) Al:
this game. I…
(45m 49s)
this game is great. So, I want to try and summarize it a little bit. So, you’re running
(45m 54s)
a cafe. It’s… I feel like people will talk about this like… what’s the… what’s the restaurant
(46m)
game? The, like, multiplayer? Overcooked. People will compare it to Overcooked, but it is… it
(46m 1s) Chelsea:
Overcooked?
(46m 6s) Al:
does… it’s not… it’s not Overcooked. So, first up, you’re not actually doing the cooking. You…
(46m 11s)
you have a chef who does the cooking. You are the… the… the waitress. And so, your job is to run
(46m 19s)
the restaurant and do the waitressing, but you can also hire other waiters and waitresses as well.
(46m 25s)
So, you don’t even need to do that as you continue on the game. You’re running the restaurant,
(46m 29s)
essentially, but you’re also running a farm and using the farm to gather ingredients for your
(46m 35s)
meals. Now, what I really like about this is the… the morning. So, you’ve got, like, two stages of
(46m 44s)
of the day. There’s the morning and then there’s after you open the restaurant.
(46m 48s)
The morning there is no time limit, there is no stamina, you can do as much as you want
(46m 55s)
in that time. Full stop, no restrictions.
(46m 59s) Chelsea:
Yeah, I really enjoyed that because I was I kept looking at it like oh my god the day’s gonna pass but it didn’t even move
(47m 4s) Al:
It doesn’t. Not even. I absolutely love that. Now I do understand that some people
(47m 9s)
will find that weird and might find it a little bit frustrating because they can’t control
(47m 13s)
themselves and they will continue to like do stuff forever, but you know what? I spent like a good
(47m 20s)
half an hour one of the days just cleaning the entire farm, seeing how big it was,
(47m 25s)
chopping down all the trees, getting rid of all the weeds, picking up everything that was there,
(47m 31s)
and I love it. I love that I could do that.
(47m 34s)
It was so good. There was a little bit of… did you ever listen to the Sugardew Island episode?
(47m 41s) Chelsea:
I don’t know if I did, I don’t think so.
(47m 42s) Al:
It was the first game on this podcast that I’ve actively said is a bad game rather than just
(47m 46s)
saying not for me. But one of the things that I did actually like about it was they did the
(47m 52s)
same thing where your day is like split in two and the time does not progress without you telling it
(47m 59s)
to progress essentially. It was the same sort of thing you ran a shop. So you did the farming in
(48m 4s)
the morning and then you opened a shop in the evening. Same thing here. You run a farm in the
(48m 8s)
morning and then you open your restaurant for the rest of the day. I actually really like this as a
(48m 11s) Chelsea:
Yeah.
(48m 12s) Al:
concept and I feel like more games need to look into this.
(48m 14s) Chelsea:
Yeah, Bistro did that too. I enjoyed that a lot.
(48m 17s) Al:
It did, but I didn’t like that game. So that’s a whole other thing. But no, you’re right. You’re
(48m 25s)
right. It did have that same thing and I do like that because I like the idea of like these…
(48m 32s)
there are these type parts of the day and these are the.
(48m 34s)
things you focus on in this part of the day and I think it might help people who get overwhelmed
(48m 38s)
by these types of games where there’s so much to do where you’re like well that’s fine don’t
(48m 42s)
focus on this bit just now right you’re farming don’t think about the restaurant just now
(48m 45s)
think about the farming and then when you’re done that it’s like don’t think about the
(48m 48s)
farming you’re doing the restaurant although do you know what I really like is you can
(48m 52s)
continue to farm when the restaurants open if you want.
(48m 55s) Chelsea:
Isn’t that so funny? I thought that was hilarious.
(48m 56s) Al:
I’m just running up running away from my restaurant and the people who are wanting food to go
(49m)
go and water some potatoes.
(49m 4s) Chelsea:
Yeah, order some mushrooms halfway through.
(49m 4s) Al:
The other thing I really like is, so obviously early game you will have very little in terms
(49m 14s)
of ingredients. I think you start out where you can, there’s the mushrooms that are growing
(49m 20s)
around which you pick for mushroom soup, and there’s also a bunch of herbs. But then there’s
(49m 26s)
not very much you can do the first couple of days until you get a decent amount of money
(49m 29s)
and then you can buy some seeds, but what you can do is if you do have some.
(49m 34s)
And because it’s a real-time restaurant game, you can order things online and they will be delivered to you after a period of time, so you can kind of gamble a little bit and be like, “Oh, I’m running out of ingredients. Let me buy some, welcome some people in and get their orders.”
(49m 59s)
And yes, they might be ordering something I don’t have,
(50m 1s)
but it’s on its way and you’re kind of like.
(50m 4s)
Just risking things a little bit.
(50m 6s)
I quite like that aspect of it.
(50m 7s)
You can do the stress if you want,
(50m 10s)
or you can just ignore them
(50m 11s)
and not bring them into the restaurant.
(50m 13s)
I don’t know if you experienced this,
(50m 14s)
but so there’s, if certain things take too long,
(50m 19s)
they’re unhappy and they’re less likely to pay,
(50m 21s)
you know, give you tips and stuff like that.
(50m 24s)
But I’d never noticed them leave the queue
(50m 28s)
to get into the restaurant.
(50m 30s) Chelsea:
- No, I never, yeah, I never saw anyone leave.
(50m 31s) Al:
So I noticed them complaining about the.
(50m 34s)
Stuff coming. I never got to the point where it was long enough that they would have done anything about it. I don’t know whether they just would have given me less money or whether they would have left. But yeah, they never seem to leave the queue at the door. So you can just go. I’m not going to let anyone in. I don’t have the food if you want to play things safe. Or you can do what I did and let everybody in and then just be stressed about the fact that food hasn’t arrived yet.
(50m 57s)
Especially when you have like 5 tables that are all full of people and then you’ve got one chef who’s stressed.
(51m 4s)
The other thing I really liked was you. So a lot of it is kind of like, oh, you welcome them, you bring them in, you give them a table and then they will take a little bit of time and then they’ll be like, oh, I know what to order. You take their order. You kind of like have to manually choose what the things are. It’s like this meal with these changes to it and then these drinks and then you put the order in and then the chef goes and cooks it.
(51m 5s) Chelsea:
[laughs]
(51m 34s) Al:
And you go get the drinks and take them to them. And then when the food’s ready, you go take it to the table and then they eat it and then they say they’re done. They want to pay. And what you do is you manually put in the amount of money. And what’s interesting about it is the amount that you put in doesn’t have to be the exact amount that’s on the bill.
(51m 55s)
And if you charge more, the more you charge over the amount that it is, the higher the risk is that it goes wrong.
(52m 4s)
a chance they just pay it and then give you a tip as well right so you can kind of you can kind of
(52m 8s) Chelsea:
Interesting.
(52m 9s) Al:
gamble how much you’re going to charge them and actually you can make a lot more money that way
(52m 15s)
obviously not ethical but really interesting now what I will say is if they if they don’t want to
(52m 22s)
pay it I think they just give you the amount on the bill and they don’t give you any tip
(52m 28s)
so you are gambling there because the the tips can be a decent amount because obviously this is a game made by Americans
(52m 34s)
um but it’s it’s yeah so you don’t just go in and say like oh i’m charging you a thousand because
(52m 36s) Chelsea:
[laughter]
(52m 42s) Al:
they they won’t give you a thousand and they won’t give you a tip you’ll just yeah it just
(52m 46s)
backfires if you do that I did I did try that out once because why not let’s see what happens
(52m 50s) Chelsea:
Okay, I didn’t try. I wasn’t… I wasn’t risky.
(52m 54s) Al:
come on it’s the demo if you’re not going to risk it in the demo where are you going to risk it
(52m 59s)
Um, but yeah, like there were times where I was like it was 50 and I was charging them
(53m 5s)
and they were giving me that and they also gave me a tip as well.
(53m 8s)
So you can rack it up if you, if you play it a little bit, but obviously there’s a chance
(53m 13s)
they just don’t.
(53m 14s)
And then, then you’re like, Oh, didn’t even get a tip from that one.
(53m 17s)
You know?
(53m 18s)
And it’s a bit frustrating, but it’s, it’s fun.
(53m 21s)
I like that kind of risk aspect to it.
(53m 24s)
Um, and I feel like that’s kind of what this is going for.
(53m 27s)
It’s not like huge, massive, stressful game, but it’s about how much risk you give.
(53m 31s)
like we were talking about you can just like leave the restaurant.
(53m 34s)
and go and farm some more and like that will give you more ingredients tomorrow
(53m 40s)
but you’re obviously risking the fact that you don’t get back in time to give someone their food.
(53m 45s) Chelsea:
Right.
(53m 46s) Al:
So I enjoyed that.
(53m 48s) Chelsea:
Yeah.
(53m 49s)
I hated that game with the soda.
(53m 53s) Al:
it is so it’s it’s so weird so like yeah let me do you want to do you want to explain how it works
(53m 54s) Chelsea:
I was like, “Why are we even doing this?”
(54m 1s)
Sure, so for everything else, you’re just using your controller like A, B, Y, X.
(54m 6s)
But with the– when you go to the drink fridge to get drinks,
(54m 10s)
you have to do this like aiming game where you make the angle
(54m 14s)
So that you could throw it onto-
(54m 15s)
your tray but if you miss it it goes on the floor but I didn’t get so far in the
(54m 19s)
demo so I don’t know if it’s only for the drinks or like do other mechanics
(54m 24s)
come in later in the game where you actually have to do the minigame?
(54m 25s) Al:
There are some other things, so like, after a while you’ll start unlocking pouring water for them, and that is another another little minigame.
(54m 33s) Chelsea:
Oh god, okay.
(54m 35s) Al:
But yeah, it’s so weird because like the main stuff is just like you move around, you press a button to do a thing, right?
(54m 41s)
And then they’re like, “Oh, but here’s some random minigames for throwing drinks on a tray!”
(54m 47s) Chelsea:
Yeah, like, I was- I was using my Xbox controller for the- for moving around the restaurant, but for the- for the drinks and stuff, I had to use my mouse.
(54m 47s) Al:
It’s so weird!
(54m 51s)
Yeah.
(54m 55s) Chelsea:
I’m like, “I don’t know what the heck I’m doing here, okay?”
(54m 56s) Al:
I will say I will say it worked quite well, I found, like the controller worked fine for it. I was just using the analog stick to aim, so I and also like I complained about the other games when they had issues, the controller worked really well here, the controller support was pretty good, I didn’t I didn’t find anything I couldn’t do with the controller, it was it was really well done.
(55m) Chelsea:
Okay.
(55m 19s) Al:
But yeah, it clearly wants to be silly, and I can’t decide whether it’s gone all in or not, I’ll have to…
(55m 26s)
I’m buying this game, full stop, like I’ve already scheduled time in November, like when I’m playing this game because I like I enjoyed it that much, but it will be interesting to see whether it continues to be silly or not, because it’s like it’s not, it doesn’t feel all in on the silly, right? Like there’s some silly with the drinks, with the watering, the watering feels a little bit silly, where you’ve got like this silly hose, like you don’t have a watering can like normal farming games, you have a hose, and you have to…
(55m 47s) Chelsea:
[laughs] The hose.
(55m 52s)
No, they put all of their resources into the hose physics.
(55m 56s) Al:
Which is fantastic, may I say, but you pull this hose from the watering container, and you have to like aim it, and move where you’re aiming, and walk around at the same time, it’s very silly, but then like the farming is just like normal farming other than that, so it’s like I don’t know where there’s more silliness going to come in, I don’t know.
(56m 25s)
You run out of the water tank, you then have to pump water into the water tank, and that’s another little mini game, so yeah, there is definitely stuff there, but I don’t know, yeah, I can’t decide whether it’s just trying to be silly, or whether it’s like here’s just a few silly bits and pieces, and I can’t decide what I would prefer.
(56m 44s) Chelsea:
Oh, just go all in if you’re gonna do it at all.
(56m 47s) Al:
Yeah, I just, it’ll be interesting to see whether that expands or not.
(56m 53s) Chelsea:
The art style is cool though, I like that you look like Fisher Price little people.
(56m 57s) Al:
I think, yeah, I quite like it. It’s an interesting art style. I’m enjoying looking at it.
(57m 6s)
Yeah, I like this game. This is a fun game. I’m going to play this game.
(57m 8s) Chelsea:
Mhm. Yeah, maybe depending on the price I’ll- I’ll grab it, but we’ll see.
(57m 12s) Al:
We shall see.
(57m 14s)
You wanted to talk about the coke?
(57m 16s) Chelsea:
Yeah, okay, so they’re just straight up using the word “coke” instead of “cola”
(57m 19s) Al:
They are.
(57m 21s) Chelsea:
and, like, don’t let me be the one to get the “cease and desist” letter on you, but, like,
(57m 26s)
pretty sure you don’t have that permission.
(57m 29s) Al:
Maybe they do.
(57m 30s) Chelsea:
Maybe they do! Wouldn’t there be, like, a TM beside it then?
(57m 33s) Al:
I find it really weird that Coke is trademarked. Like, Coca-Cola is the name. The name isn’t Coke.
(57m 38s) Chelsea:
Yeah.
(57m 39s) Al:
Why do they have that trademarked? It’s not their name.
(57m 42s) Chelsea:
I have no idea. That’s a whole other episode.
(57m 46s)
But, no, it’s just a little point. I was like, “Oh, that doesn’t say ‘cola’, that says ‘coke’.”
(57m 50s)
Interesting. No, but, yeah, no, it’s- looks like a good game for- it seems like your type of game.
(57m 56s) Al:
Haha, what does that mean?
(57m 58s) Chelsea:
You like your farming! That’s the whole point of the show!
(58m 3s) Al:
Yeah, I don’t like all farming games
(58m 5s) Chelsea:
Well, no. But yeah, I find the time management, like, cookie-
(58m 8s)
-king Mama, Overcooked, that kind of stuff, that one-piece game that’s coming out that I know
(58m 13s)
Kevin’s gonna be all over. Those games stress me out a little bit, but I’m a perfectionist,
(58m 14s) Al:
[laughing]
(58m 20s) Chelsea:
so it’s like, what do you mean you’re not gonna give me a 100% tip and my restaurant rating’s
(58m 24s)
only 4.8? I am failing at this game, so maybe it’s just not meant for me.
(58m 29s) Al:
- Yeah, no, that’s fine.
(58m 30s)
Not all games are for everyone.
(58m 32s)
But I am very much enjoying it.
(58m 34s)
And I don’t feel stressed,
(58m 36s)
which is what I was a little bit worried about.
(58m 37s)
Is it, you know, ‘cause obviously people use
(58m 39s)
the comparison with Overcooked.
(58m 41s)
Is it gonna feel stressed?
(58m 42s)
No, I thought it was quite fun.
(58m 43s)
‘Cause like, as you expand,
(58m 46s)
you gain other ways to make it less stressful.
(58m 49s)
Like, you know, when you add more tables,
(58m 52s)
you can also hire more staff.
(58m 54s)
You can hire more chefs and you can hire waiters.
(58m 57s)
And it’s like, you can either just leave.
(58m 59s)
it to the hired waiters or you can join in yourself and speed things up and I really like that.
(59m 6s)
Yeah, no it’s really good. It’s like you get to the point where like oh there’s so many things
(59m 10s)
I’m doing because you add the like you have to clear the tables, you have to sometimes wipe the
(59m 13s)
tables, also there can be messes on the floor and then obviously you’ve got the ordering, you’ve got
(59m 18s)
the welcoming people in, you’ve got pouring them water, you’ve got getting the drinks, you’ve got
(59m 26s)
you know them paying money but it like slowly unlocks
(59m 29s)
and by the time you’ve unlocked all of them you have enough money to start hiring people.
(59m 33s) Chelsea:
Okay, okay, so I- I didn’t know that you actually were able to hire other people.
(59m 37s) Al:
Yeah yeah so no no no and it’s um you pay them by hour so um you you basically you you know
(59m 38s) Chelsea:
I thought you would just expand your restaurant and it’s just you.
(59m 46s) Al:
whether you’re going to be able to afford it or not based on whether you’re actually good at the
(59m 49s)
game. Interestingly so one thing about I will say about the hiring people is um the waiters have like
(59m 57s)
our skill level.
(59m 59s)
And so they start out being like, their accuracy on taking the orders is only 80% or something,
(1h 9s)
and you have to train them up to make them better.
(1h 12s) Chelsea:
Interesting.
(1h 12s) Al:
The good thing is that training them up just involves paying money.
(1h 16s)
So it feels a little bit capitalist game, it’s like, oh, we could just pay money to
(1h 21s)
fix things, right?
(1h 21s) Chelsea:
Well, pay more money!
(1h 22s) Al:
That’s how it works.
(1h 23s)
Yeah.
(1h 23s) Chelsea:
Mm-hmm. That’s funny. Go take a serving class.
(1h 24s) Al:
Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
(1h 29s)
I think I got mine up to like 98% or something like that, which is like, that’s good.
(1h 32s) Chelsea:
Oh wow.
(1h 33s) Al:
That’s good enough.
(1h 34s)
That’s…
(1h 34s) Chelsea:
How long did you play for?
(1h 35s) Al:
Oh, good question.
(1h 36s)
Let me check.
(1h 40s) Chelsea:
Because I played for maybe 45 minutes or so.
(1h 44s) Al:
So, I’ve got, yeah, no, that’s, I do honestly think that an hour of a game is enough to
(1h 45s) Chelsea:
I’ll I gave it it yeah
(1h 51s) Al:
know whether you should continue playing.
(1h 53s)
I do think that sometimes you need to give it that full hour, but yeah, if you’re not
(1h 58s)
enjoying a game after an hour, you’re, like, either you’re not going to enjoy it or the
(1h 1m 2s)
game’s badly designed.
(1h 1m 5s)
I have five hours of playtime on the demo.
(1h 1m 7s) Chelsea:
Oh, wow. So, is there a certain– did you reach the end?
(1h 1m 8s) Al:
Yeah, I’ve reached the point where it was like, you’re done, and I’m like, oh, sad.
(1h 1m 14s) Chelsea:
[laughs]
(1h 1m 14s) Al:
And you just couldn’t play that save file anymore.
(1h 1m 15s) Chelsea:
Can you– [laughs]
(1h 1m 17s) Al:
So I think you could create a new one, but then obviously you’re back to the start, and
(1h 1m 20s)
I’m like, I’m not going to do that.
(1h 1m 21s)
I’m just going to wait for the game.
(1h 1m 22s)
What I don’t know is whether you can move progress from the demo to the game.
(1h 1m 23s) Chelsea:
Okay, that’s what my next question was.
(1h 1m 26s) Al:
I don’t know.
(1h 1m 27s)
I do not know.
(1h 1m 28s)
They’ve not said that.
(1h 1m 30s)
And it’s not going to be a deal-breaker for me.
(1h 1m 32s)
I will be disappointed if I can’t, but it won’t be a deal-breaker for me, but it won’t
(1h 1m 35s)
be a deal-breaker for me.
(1h 1m 35s) Chelsea:
Yeah, because for Danchi days you can’t- there’s no save/transfer.
(1h 1m 45s) Al:
is kind of, like, specifically designed to show you how to play the game, isn’t it?
(1h 1m 48s)
Or is it from the start of the game?
(1h 1m 49s) Chelsea:
and it shows it it’s like it’s from the beginning but
(1h 1m 50s) Al:
Okay.
(1h 1m 51s)
Fair enough.
(1h 1m 52s)
Because just, like, some demos are like, here is a very specific part of the game that you
(1h 1m 57s)
can play, whereas some it’s like you can play X number of hours of the game.
(1h 1m 58s) Chelsea:
yeah
(1h 2m 1s)
no it hits you right in the feels from from the first cut scene just to get you emotionally invested
(1h 2m 2s) Al:
Excellent.
(1h 2m 3s)
That’s how it works.
(1h 2m 9s)
All right.
(1h 2m 10s)
Well, that’s our demos, then.
(1h 2m 11s)
Four games.
(1h 2m 12s)
Uhhhh…
(1h 2m 14s)
Two of them, we will definitely play again.
(1h 2m 16s)
Sounds like.
(1h 2m 17s)
If you’re going to play, if you’re, sounds like you’re going to play Danche Game.
(1h 2m 20s)
Danche Dem, Danche Days.
(1h 2m 22s) Chelsea:
yes
(1h 2m 22s) Al:
And the other ones, we’ll see!
Outro
(1h 2m 25s) Al:
Alright, thank you Chelsea for joining me for this episode.
(1h 2m 27s)
Is there anything you…
(1h 2m 30s) Chelsea:
No, but thank you for having me, and I’m sorry if people are getting sick of me
(1h 2m 35s)
And we have the we have the neopets one coming up so there won’t be any Kevin toad impressions
(1h 2m 41s) Al:
I do need to apologize for listeners for leaving that in. It was so overdriven, but I was like,
(1h 2m 43s) Chelsea:
I’m not as good as impressions as Kevin is
(1h 2m 50s) Al:
this is obviously terrible and I apologize if it hurt anyone’s ears, but it felt so ridiculously
(1h 2m 58s)
bad that I felt I needed to leave it in because I don’t think anybody would have believed
(1h 3m 3s)
how bad it is if they hadn’t heard it. It was just like listening to it going like,
(1h 3m 8s)
I don’t understand what is happening here like it’s
(1h 3m 10s) Chelsea:
I was driving, I was driving while I was listening to it and I almost swerved because I was laughing
(1h 3m 11s) Al:
like kevin is being raptured or something like I is he being electrocuted is like what’s happening
(1h 3m 23s) Chelsea:
so hard because you told us, you were like, “Regardless of what you’re thinking, it’s
(1h 3m 28s)
worse.”
(1h 3m 29s)
I was like, “Oh, I’m sorry.”
(1h 3m 29s) Al:
yeah yeah I suppose we have a chat for the for the regulars team in uh in slack and i
(1h 3m 35s)
was like honestly you have no idea and even kevin wouldn’t know because he didn’t listen
(1h 3m 41s)
and he had an idea of what it would be because he had said it but I was like trust me
(1h 3m 45s) Chelsea:
[laughs]
(1h 3m 45s) Al:
trust me whatever you’re imagining is worse so bad
(1h 3m 49s) Chelsea:
It’s more than that.
(1h 3m 52s)
Oh my gosh.
(1h 3m 54s) Al:
nothing against kevin’s imperson impression kevin’s impressions are generally good
(1h 3m 56s) Chelsea:
[laughs]
(1h 3m 58s) Al:
but my word he was needed to turn that volume down a little bit we love you kevin
(1h 4m 1s) Chelsea:
[laughs]
(1h 4m 5s)
Nah, I don’t think I can top that, though.
(1h 4m 8s)
No way I can top that.
(1h 4m 9s) Al:

(1h 5m 42s) Al:
It’s funny, it’s a very common thing for me at the end of this podcast to just be absolutely
(1h 5m 49s)
desperate for the toilet. And I don’t even know, it’s been an hour and a half since
(1h 5m 54s)
the call started, it’s not been that long. I watch films twice as long as this and don’t
(1h 5m 58s)
have this problem. But for some reason, the podcast itself seems to make me need the toilet.
(1h 6m 2s)
It’s ridiculous. Yeah, it’s like it’s nearly done. I need the toilet.
(1h 6m 4s) Chelsea:
Your body knows it’s on to the next activity.
