Intro
(30s) Al:
Hello Farmers and welcome to another episode of The Harvest Season. My name is Al.
(35s) Codey:
And my name is Codey.
(37s) Al:
Excuse me, that’s not what the script says.
(39s) Codey:
My name is, uh, Durr-Codey.
(43s)
Doctor… [laughs]
(45s)
Doctor Codey, it me.
(46s) Al:
This is your first episode since becoming officially, well, no, I guess, well, I don’t
(48s) Codey:
I’m the bug doctor! Woo!
(51s)
I did the…
(54s)
Oh my gosh.
(56s) Al:
know, I don’t know what, I feel like at some point in the past you were saying that you
(1m)
were a doctor and then, but you weren’t finished. So I’m confused about what, how the process
(1m 4s)
actually works, but the first one, since it’s all finished.
(1m 6s) Codey:
So, yeah, yeah, yeah. So, basically, like, once you defend your dissertation, it’s kind of just formality after that.
(1m 17s)
And so, I had defended and my committee was like, “Yes, you passed. Congratulations.”
(1m 23s)
And they called me doctor at that point, but then this is now, like, I walked across the stage.
(1m 29s)
I turned in my dissertation. I actually just got the information today that my dissertation is now available on open access.
(1m 36s)
So, if anyone wants to read my dissertation titled Assessing the Impact of Floral Resources and Vertical Stratification on Insect Behavior and Biases of Common Trapping Methodologies for Insect Communities, you can find that.
(1m 47s) Al:
I’ll be totally honest with you, Codey. I don’t want to read it.
(1m 52s) Codey:
You know what? I don’t blame you. I’m also not going to read it, so.
(1m 56s) Al:
You know, it’s funny because Rona, my wife, she’s a musician for people who don’t know.
(2m 4s)
And she did music teaching was her degree. And there were a bunch of people on her degree who
(2m 11s)
wrote dissertations that she was very interested in. She was like, “Oh, get me a copy. I’d love
(2m 16s)
to read that. She’s not read a single book.
(2m 17s)
She’s read every single one since then, and it’s been 13 years.
(2m 18s) Codey:
- Yeah.
(2m 21s)
Yeah.
(2m 21s)
Well, it’s one of those things like it’s super,
(2m 24s)
it is interesting and you’re like,
(2m 25s)
oh my gosh, I’m gonna read this.
(2m 26s)
And then you try and sit down to read it.
(2m 28s)
And like some people,
(2m 29s)
I’m not entirely sure how long their dissertations were,
(2m 31s)
but I would say the average is somewhere
(2m 33s)
between like 100 pages to like more than 100 pages.
(2m 37s)
I don’t know, like maybe 200 pages.
(2m 40s)
Mine is 500 pages long.
(2m 42s)
So I am not expecting anyone to read it,
(2m 45s)
But if you wanted to, it is a novel.
(2m 45s) Al:
like a novel. Rhona was such a nerd that she did two different dissertations. She did an
(2m 49s) Codey:
It feels like that, but if you wanted to read it, it’s there, so find it.
(2m 58s) Al:
elective dissertation as well as her normal dissertation for some reason. Yes, she is
(3m 1s) Codey:
That…is…a choice.
(3m 7s) Al:
such a nerd. No, no, no. I don’t know. Maybe it’s not. Maybe this is one of those cultural
(3m 8s) Codey:
Wait, so she has a doctorate?
(3m 14s) Al:
things. We call dissertations for.
(3m 15s)
Degrees. I don’t know whether that’s a cultural thing. I don’t know whether you don’t call
(3m 20s) Codey:
Okay.
(3m 21s) Al:
them dissertations when there’s a degree, but we do here.
(3m 23s) Codey:
Is it- wait, so what level of degree did she get?
(3m 26s) Al:
Bachelors. Yes, she did. I can’t remember whether this was one of our dissertations
(3m 27s) Codey:
Okay, cool. Still interesting.
(3m 34s) Al:
or just a different thing. She did something on video game music.
(3m 38s) Codey:
Ooh!
(3m 39s) Al:
So, yeah, anyway, music and Dr. Codey.
(3m 43s) Codey:
Music!
(3m 45s)
And it me! Woo!
(3m 45s) Al:
Not music. Bugs.
(3m 47s) Codey:
[laughs] Bugs!
(3m 48s) Al:
And we’re here today to talk about Codeyscore games. Woo!
(3m 49s) Codey:
[sniffs] Ugh!
(3m 52s)
Oh, woo! Ow, ow, ow!
(3m 54s) Al:
This episode we’re going to talk about news, because there’s lots of news, including a
(3m 59s)
lot of new games. Last episode I said there were only three more new games that we needed
(4m 4s)
to talk about. And if there wasn’t anything else new, then we wouldn’t have a problem.
(4m 9s)
And then Gamescom happened and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, we have nine!
(4m 12s) Codey:
Yep.
(4m 15s) Al:
New games to talk about.
(4m 17s) Codey:
Thanks, Gamescom.
(4m 18s) Al:
So, and it’s very possible I’ve missed something, because I was not looking through all the
(4m 24s)
Gamescom stuff manually. I was, like, searching for stuff.
(4m 26s) Codey:
I will say some of these, I would personally not qualify as cottagecore.
(4m 30s) Al:
Look, look, well, I’ll be honest with you, I haven’t looked into them.
(4m 39s) Codey:
Okay, cool, we will decide on the fly.
(4m 42s) Al:
Why not? That’s what this episode is. This episode is cottagecore or not.
(4m 42s) Codey:
Woo-hoo!
(4m 45s) Al:
So we’re going to talk about all the new games. There’s also some game news as well. I think
(4m 45s) Codey:
[laughing]
(4m 47s)
Heck yeah!
(4m 51s) Al:
there’s more new games than there is game news, but there’s still game news. Some reasonably
(4m 55s)
big game news as well. And then we also have I Know What You Released Last Month because
(5m 1s)
it is September as you’re listening to this. So we’ve got all of August. Let’s forget about
(5m 7s)
the fact that we’re actually recording this on the last day of August and so therefore
(5m 10s)
technically it’s this month. But before all of that, Codey, what have you
(5m 12s) Codey:
Nah, it’s fine.
What Have We Been Up To
(5m 15s) Al:
been up to?
(5m 16s) Codey:
I graduated and moved!
(5m 19s)
So I now live in an area of New Jersey in which we can quickly get to Manhattan.
(5m 29s)
So Al, if you and Rona ever want to come to the Big Apple, New York City, you got a place to stay.
(5m 36s)
I got a nice couch.
(5m 36s) Al:
I think it’s very likely that at one point I will,
(5m 40s)
I think it’s probably less likely Runa will, but who knows? We will see.
(5m 42s) Codey:
That’s fine.
(5m 44s)
Well, at least for the next year.
(5m 46s)
Unless I get…
(5m 48s)
Okay.
(5m 48s) Al:
It won’t be in the next year. I can guarantee you that it will not be in the next year.
(5m 52s) Codey:
Cool.
(5m 54s)
Well, yeah, so we moved, and my new apartment is questionable.
(5m 59s)
I’ve had many not great interactions with my landlady.
(6m 5s)
The most recent of which, I told her that I saw a cockroach.
(6m 8s)
The most recent of which, I told her that I saw a cockroach and she was like…
(6m 12s)
“I’ve never had cockroaches at my properties. I don’t think you saw a cockroach.”
(6m 15s)
And I was like, “Ma’am, I’m an entomologist. Please, I think I know what the heck I’m talking about.”
(6m 21s)
And I actually collected it, because of course I did, and I looked at it under a microscope
(6m 27s)
and took photos of it under a microscope and sent it to her and looked it up and was like,
(6m 32s)
“Oh, it’s this tawny cockroach or spotted Mediterranean cockroach.”
(6m 38s)
It’s like Ectobius pallidus, I think is the scientific name.
(6m 42s)
Um, and I was like, so I don’t think it’s, it’s, it’s like a non invasive,
(6m 45s)
non pest one it’s introduced to the area, but it’s not like going to be
(6m 49s)
something that’s going to be a pest in the house.
(6m 50s)
So I don’t think it’s an issue.
(6m 52s)
And she was like, okay, I’ll send this to my exterminator.
(6m 55s)
And then she comes back to me and this was after she she’s like, she’s like, I’ll
(7m)
send this, the photo of the bug to my exterminator.
(7m 4s)
And I’m like, I just didn’t say anything.
(7m 6s)
And then she’s like, so how often have you been coming back
(7m 9s)
and forth from Pennsylvania?
(7m 12s)
And I’m like, I mean, not too often, but also like this species is, is local to
(7m 17s)
Long Island and has been making its way West of, from Long Island, like onto
(7m 20s)
Manhattan and now into Jersey.
(7m 22s)
So like, this isn’t a Pennsylvania species.
(7m 25s)
And then she was like, well, my exterminator says it’s a Pennsylvania
(7m 28s)
wood roach and she, she didn’t outright say, but she basically
(7m 32s)
insinuated that we brought it.
(7m 34s)
Um, which, you know, if that makes her feel better in her heart.
(7m 38s)
Uh, sure.
(7m 39s)
Um, so there’s that.
(7m 42s)
Have been playing.
(7m 43s)
So I, we had a, a debacle of, I started playing this game called big, bad Pharma.
(7m 49s)
Um, which is a super cute game on the, on Steam.
(7m 54s)
It’s just, it’s one of the sorting games.
(7m 55s)
So I don’t know what we’re calling these yet.
(7m 57s)
If there, if we’re calling them library likes, because there’s the library game
(8m) Al:
I feel like we can have a better name than that, surely. Or Organizers. Cozy Organizers.
(8m 3s) Codey:
that everyone knows about, which is librarian tardy, tidy up the arcane library.
(8m 8s)
than library-like. Organizers sorting…
(8m 13s)
Yeah, we could have a whole episode about cozy organizers and I could cover…
(8m 14s) Al:
Nobody. Actually no, it can’t be Cozy Organizers because then when people define their genre
(8m 17s) Codey:
I have played… So I’ve played the library game.
(8m 25s) Al:
as Cozy Organizers I’ll get annoyed because they’re calling it cozy. And no, it can’t
(8m 28s) Codey:
You don’t think it’s cozy?
(8m 30s) Al:
be that. So I just, well no I guess my point is like I always, I get annoyed when people
(8m 36s)
say that their game is cozy, right? Oh here’s a cozy game. And I’m like no that’s for the
(8m 39s) Codey:
Mm, correct.
(8m 41s) Al:
players to decide. And so if we say that the genre is Cozy Organizers and then they say
(8m 46s)
oh this is a Cozy Organizer, they are saying that it’s cozy. That’s the problem. Organizers.
(8m 49s) Codey:
Mm-hmm, got it.
(8m 51s)
So just organizing, sorting games, I think is what Steam calls it.
(8m 54s) Al:
Sorting games. Yeah I mean I think the thing is that sorting games I often think of like
(8m 56s) Codey:
So…
(9m) Al:
which is on a much smaller scale, right? There’s like different kinds, there’s organizing on
(9m 4s) Codey:
No, it’s lovely.
(9m 4s) Al:
the unpacking scale and then there’s this which is like Hellscape.
(9m 11s) Codey:
So the library game is 4,000 books are scattered on the floor all over the place.
(9m 17s)
You have to put them back in their correct section and correct shelf.
(9m 21s)
And then I’ve also played Supermarket Chaos, which is same, same, but it’s a supermarket.
(9m 24s)
And they have three different maps.
(9m 26s)
So there’s a map with like 3,000, a map with like 1,000, and then a map with 10,000.
(9m 32s) Al:
Oh, I think I know what you’re about to talk about because I’m looking at the news section.
(9m 32s) Codey:
at Big Bad Pharma.
(9m 35s)
Oh, I didn’t.
(9m 36s)
Is there something about it?
(9m 38s)
Oh, this would be great.
(9m 39s)
So I I haven’t looked at what you’re talking about.
(9m 42s) Al:
Well, tell me what you’re telling me. Tell me what your issue
(9m 45s) Codey:
So my thing is that we were I played it a good amount.
(9m 48s)
And then I left it here for the last week in Pennsylvania,
(9m 51s)
because like here in Jersey, because I didn’t need it.
(9m 54s)
And then I went back to play it yesterday.
(9m 58s)
And Jeff’s Steam account is locked.
(10m 2s)
This Steam account is locked.
(10m 4s)
because it says that his American Express disputed the claim of $6.67 for this game.
(10m 14s)
And so we reached out to his Amex and his Amex was like, “No, we don’t have an issue with this.
(10m 21s)
I don’t know what they’re on about.” And so then we went back to Steam and we were like,
(10m 25s)
“Amex doesn’t have a problem with this charge. Please just give me my game back.”
(10m 29s)
and it says like specifically you know if this was if this is made an error
(10m 34s)
just let us know and then you can rebuy the game but like his account is like
(10m 38s)
straight-up blocked like I can’t we can’t buy anything new until we fix that
(10m 43s)
issue is that what the news is about
(10m 45s) Al:
- No, no, no.
(10m 46s)
So their second most recent news is entitled,
(10m 51s)
“No AI Art Left in Big Bad Pharma.”
(10m 54s) Codey:
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
(10m 55s) Al:
[laughing]
(10m 57s)
So it’s not “No AI Art” in the game,
(10m 59s)
it’s “No AI Art Left” in the game.
(11m 2s)
[laughing]
(11m 2s) Codey:
Yeah. Well, so I think that they had used it, they had used art to make the like pill
(11m 4s) Al:
Classic.
(11m 8s) Codey:
bottle labels. And but yeah, it’s gone. And that’s that’s something that’s really important.
(11m 9s) Al:
- Mm-hmm.
(11m 17s) Codey:
Like people have been really trying to consider these games, these sorting games, and if they’re
(11m 24s)
using AI or not, because it people could very quickly use AI and like generate all of these
(11m 30s)
things. And…
(11m 32s)
And this is a big like people are spending a lot of time like I it says that I spent 98 hours in this game
(11m 39s)
I don’t believe that
(11m 40s)
Because I only had it for like a week and a half
(11m 43s)
And so if I was spending 98 hours, I’d have to play it like 10 hours a day
(11m 46s)
And there is no way that I was doing that
(11m 50s)
So, yeah, I don’t know but I really enjoy it that’s a fun one so
(11m 57s)
Yeah, what about you? Oh, what have you been up to?
(11m 59s) Al:
I have been playing the Pocopia DLC. I will have thoughts on that at some point. Will
(12m 9s)
they be what listeners are expecting them to be? Who knows? We shall find out. I think
(12m 12s) Codey:
[laughs]
(12m 13s)
Ooooooooh!
(12m 15s) Al:
that’s all I’ve been playing just now. I’m trying to think. Yeah. I’ve been reorganizing
(12m 20s)
a bunch of stuff so I redid my ethernet cables in my house today because I had, yeah, because
(12m 24s) Codey:
Ooh, that, so satisfying.
(12m 28s) Al:
they’ve done some…
(12m 29s)
something’s wrong with my setup and I was like, “Hmm, something’s wrong because I’m only getting like about 100 meg, just under 100 meg on my Wi-Fi, which is not right. That’s not… it should be much more than that. I do have an older Wi-Fi system, but it should be close to half a gig because I’m on a gigabit internet and the Wi-Fi that I have should be getting at least half a gig, which I’ve been looking into upgrading to a better Wi-Fi to be able to get the full gig, but that’s a whole other question. So I’m like, “Something’s wrong here.” So I was like, “You know what? I have… every
(12m 40s) Codey:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
(12m 59s) Al:
single cable in my house is like a different type of cable, a different one. I’ve no… one of them must be… must be an old Cat5 cable, so let me replace everything.” I can’t replace everything because the cable out to my office is like under the ground, but that’s a Cat5e, so it supports gigabit anyway. So that’s fine for just now. I’ll need to replace it at some point, but that is not a “for now” job when I only have gigabit internet. That’s a future job. So I bought a bunch of
(13m 19s) Codey:
Mm-hmm. Yeah.
(13m 29s) Al:
eight cables and replaced them all, all my existing cables, and now today I was getting half a gig on Wi-Fi. So I want to do a little bit more in my office where my… like I have my desk and laptop connected to a USB hub, but which is connected to my monitor, but it’s not connected to ethernet. It’s just going off Wi-Fi,
(13m 37s) Codey:
Yay! Oh, I don’t–
(13m 59s) Al:
because it’s a standing desk and cables are a little bit weird when you do that, and my Wi-Fi router in this room is on the other side of the room, so I’ll need to move it over and like mount it onto my desk, so I only have one cable coming off it. So that is my plan at some point, which I have been designing some 3D-printed plans for that, because I have… underneath my desk I have a mounting system, which is a 3D-printed mounting
(14m 29s)
which is fun for mounting up. I have all my cables and stuff in channels and stuff.
(14m 34s)
It’s really nice and tidy. Neat and tidy. That’s what I was looking
(14m 40s)
forward to say. But if I’m gonna add my router to that it needs to be done
(14m 45s)
properly so I’ve been designing that. But that will mean that I could get my I
(14m 50s)
could get my laptop up to a gigabit instead of half a gigabit on my desk. So
(14m 56s)
All my cables match now, they’re all nice, they’re…
(14m 59s)
little one meter Cat 8 cables that were surprisingly cheap because I read everywhere that Cat 8 can be really expensive, but they were pretty cheap, and I shouldn’t have to replace them for a long, long time because they support up to 10 gigabit, so I can’t see any time soon needing more than 10 gigabit, so that is nice.
(15m 19s) Codey:
I don’t know, nowadays with the just exponential expansion of technology, who knows?
(15m 29s) Al:
Yeah, I mean, you’re right, who knows? However, network speeds have generally gone up pretty
(15m 35s)
slowly compared to everything else, right? Like, I’m on gigabit and I’ve been on gigabit now for a
(15m 41s)
few years and, you know, it’s not really… I mean, yeah, there are some places that have, that can get
(15m 46s)
10 gigabit, but I can’t. Like, I’m not in a city. I won’t be able to get 10 gigabit for a long time.
(15m 53s)
So, yeah, I don’t think that will be a problem, but I’m looking forward to having some…
(15m 59s)
That would be nice.
(16m 1s) Codey:
Oh, whoo. Yeah, I just checked because I haven’t checked since we moved to the new place and I am a
(16m 6s)
Like half a gig download speed right now, which is great
(16m 8s) Al:
Nice. Nice, nice, nice. It’s nice because this place, when I first moved into it, it didn’t have
(16m 15s)
fibre and the non-fibre would only go up to, I think it was 10 megabit. It was pretty pathetic.
(16m 22s)
So we didn’t even get like 70 meg or anything, it was 10 meg. And then there was one cable company
(16m 31s)
in the UK and so they… I know, I know. There’s basically two places you can get internet. There’s
(16m 32s) Codey:
[laughs]
(16m 34s)
How lovely.
(16m 38s) Al:
the phone line company, which is BT, and then there’s the cable company, which is Virgin,
(16m 45s)
and everyone else uses BT, right? They all use the BT lines. Virgin are the only other company
(16m 48s) Codey:
Oh.
(16m 52s) Al:
that does lines. So eventually, like maybe three or four years after we moved here, Virgin put in
(16m 57s)
the cable and then so we were like, oh fantastic, we can actually get something decent. And it took
(17m 1s)
till last year before BT upgraded our possibility internet. So now we actually can choose.
(17m 8s)
I’m going to have a field day looking for the best deal. That’ll be great. But yeah,
(17m 10s) Codey:
Wow
(17m 21s) Al:
up till now it’s just been, it had to be Virgin because there was no other option.
(17m 26s) Codey:
I just had the hellscape that is trying to leave Comcast.
(17m 31s)
I tried to do that today.
(17m 33s)
Well, I did it today, but it was…
(17m 35s)
They’re like, they’re notorious for…
(17m 38s)
We try and leave and they’re like, “Are you sure?
(17m 40s)
We could save you a lot of money. Where are you moving?
(17m 43s)
Why are you moving? What are you doing?
(17m 45s)
What about… Who’s moving into this place?
(17m 48s)
Maybe we could save it. You’ve been with us for so long.
(17m 51s)
We could save you money.”
(17m 52s)
And I literally just at one point was like,
(17m 54s)
Sir, I know that this is your–
(17m 56s)
But you guys would literally have to give me money every month to make it worth it. You’re not gonna do that
(18m 2s)
I am so sorry. Please don’t waste your time anymore
(18m 6s) Al:
Do you want to be jealous? So there’s a law here that means that
(18m 11s)
if I sign up with a new internet provider
(18m 16s)
they do all of the work of getting the other company to disconnect.
(18m 19s) Codey:
Oh, that’s so good.
(18m 22s) Al:
So you just sign up and you say yes I’m confirming I want to switch my internet
(18m 26s)
over and then it just it just all happens.
(18m 29s) Codey:
You basically sick the other internet company on the… They can do it.
(18m 31s) Al:
Yeah and of course they will do whatever they need to do to do it because they
(18m 34s)
one year, right? So it’s great.
(18m 35s) Codey:
Yeah. Oh, that’s so funny. Oh my gosh, I wish.
(18m 36s) Al:
Yeah, I know. I know it’s dreadful. I hate because the Virgin do the thing that a lot
(18m 41s) Codey:
Because, yeah, that was a half an hour of my life that I’ll never get back.
(18m 47s) Al:
of companies do, which is where they give you a like a two year contract, but it’s like
(18m 52s)
at half price. So after two years, the price doubles, you phone them up and you say, I’m
(18m 57s) Codey:
Yeah, yes, yes.
(19m) Al:
leaving and they say, Oh, well, we can give you this price and it’s the same price you
(19m 3s)
were paying before, and so you go back down to it.
(19m 4s) Codey:
Yep.
(19m 6s) Al:
It just means that every two years you have to phone them up to change back to what you
(19m 9s) Codey:
Yep.
(19m 10s) Al:
were paying before, and it’s entirely because people will forget and just continue to pay
(19m 12s) Codey:
Well, and, but…
(19m 15s) Al:
more money, but it’s just so scammy and so dreadful.
(19m 16s) Codey:
Yep.
(19m 19s)
Well, and then also, like, if you…
(19m 21s)
You might be, like, grandfathered into some service or something.
(19m 25s)
Like, you get…
(19m 26s)
Even though the amount is gonna go up,
(19m 29s)
you’re gonna get free something or other.
(19m 31s)
but if you re-up with them and they give you the…
(19m 34s)
a deal again, it resets you back to the new thing and then you don’t have that deal anymore
(19m 38s) Al:
And then of course you’re on a new two-year contract so you can’t switch
(19m 38s) Codey:
and it’s just like, “Oh, you guys are the worst.”
(19m 44s) Al:
until after another two years.
(19m 45s) Codey:
Yeah, I’m happy that we’re not really on contracts anymore here.
(19m 50s) Al:
Nice.
(19m 51s) Codey:
You might be able to do that, but we are not.
(19m 53s)
So, woo!
(19m 54s) Al:
Yeah it’s pretty it’s pretty standard here that you kind of to get the good
(19m 58s)
deals you have to be. And that’s why I’m not switching internet provider till
(20m 1s)
next year. Whoo. All right. That’s what we’ve been up to. Let’s talk.
(20m 3s) Codey:
Oh, woo!
(20m 4s)
[laughing]
I Know What You Released Last Month
(20m 8s) Al:
I know what you released last month. I’m really bad at introducing this
(20m 11s)
section because it doesn’t doesn’t really fit grammatically. Because I
(20m 18s)
can’t I can’t talk to you about it right because it’s not what you released. Right?
(20m 18s) Codey:
what you released last month.
(20m 23s) Al:
Because the previous one is I ask you what you’ve been up to. It’s like who am
(20m 26s)
I asking? Who am I telling? I know what you released last month. It was a great
(20m 30s)
idea when I came up with it but it doesn’t really fit. It doesn’t really work.
(20m 34s) Codey:
I know what was released last month, but then that, yeah, that doesn’t really fit either.
(20m 36s) Al:
Yeah, but then you lose the-
(20m 38s) Codey:
You’re right.
(20m 40s)
Listeners, hit us up if you have a new suggestion for the title of the monthly release segment.
(20m 49s) Al:
hey game devs I know what you released last month that’s gonna that’s gonna be so exhausting to say
(20m 52s) Codey:
Ayyy!
(20m 53s)
[laughs]
(20m 58s) Al:
in you know every month anyway uh first up we have three 1.0 releases um that is fields of
(21m 4s)
mystria released their 1.0 exactly two years after their early access launched which is very satisfying
(21m 13s)
dalek town released their 1.0 and star sand island giving me some points in the draft
(21m 19s)
also released their 1.0 now here’s a problem this is where we lead to a problem that i’m
(21m 20s) Codey:
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
(21m 25s) Al:
gonna have to think about is what does star sand island count for in the game
(21m 29s)
of the year episodes do they count for early access 1.0 or both
(21m 33s) Codey:
Because they both came out this year.
(21m 36s)
Yeah, I would just do both.
(21m 38s) Al:
okay okay
(21m 38s) Codey:
Because like it’s it did the early access came out this year
(21m 41s)
But it also came out like the 1.0 also came out this year. So I I would say both
(21m 43s) Al:
correct yeah yeah yeah yeah okay okay it’s not gonna win either
(21m 48s) Codey:
It’s not gonna win
(21m 49s) Al:
but
(21m 52s) Codey:
I’m like, it’s not it’s not an issue
(21m 56s) Al:
it’s not the point it might you never know it was fun
(22m 1s) Codey:
It’s not
(22m 4s) Al:
um we also got lose lagoon and spirit stead they both released their uh first versions were which
(22m 11s)
were not early access but they’ve released so they’re they’re out now and we have one early
(22m 16s)
Early Access, which is Maisie Village, have released their first.
(22m 19s)
version of their Early Access.
(22m 21s) Codey:
I feel like Lose Lagoon was one that I wanted to look up, and now I’m possibly more available with life, so…
(22m 24s) Al:
Yes.
(22m 29s)
I mean absolutely feel free to try it. I will say it’s Steam reviews are mixed.
(22m 35s) Codey:
Their website is called LuGuide, and that’s adorable.
(22m 41s) Al:
I want it to be good
(22m 43s) Codey:
Mm-hmm.
(22m 44s) Al:
There’s no more to that statement
(22m 46s) Codey:
Period.
(22m 47s) Al:
Um, yeah
(22m 48s) Codey:
Okay.
Game News
(22m 49s) Al:
Let’s talk about some news
(22m 52s)
for
Pokopia
(22m 53s) Al:
First up pokopia have released a new cloud island for the pokemon xp
(22m 58s)
Which is their event that’s going on at the same time as world championships, which is over by now
(23m 3s)
But presumably the island will still exist
(23m 6s)
so
(23m 6s) Codey:
Is this what you said you’ve been playing?
(23m 8s) Al:
Uh, I mean, I haven’t, I haven’t, this is not the deal.
(23m 8s) Codey:
No, this is not the DLC.
(23m 11s) Al:
This is just a new cloud island to visit.
(23m 13s)
The DLC came out weeks ago.
(23m 14s) Codey:
Cloud- Cloud Islands being, like, islands, like, on an Animal Crossing that you can visit.
(23m 18s) Al:
Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
(23m 20s) Codey:
Okay. I am so far behind on this game, and I am not worried about catching up.
(23m 23s) Al:
No, no, that’s fine.
(23m 24s)
So, so they released a bunch of like developer islands where you can go and see a bunch of
(23m 30s)
stuff and they’ve kind of got some nice, so one of the developer islands had like a, a
(23m 35s)
fun system where you could go in a minecart and go around and it would do some stuff with
(23m 40s)
water and stuff.
(23m 41s)
It’s quite fun seeing what they had thought of in terms of being able to use the game.
(23m 46s)
And then there was the Ikea one for some reason.
(23m 50s) Codey:
Oh my gosh.
(23m 50s) Al:
And I didn’t have any Ikea items, but it was a thing for some reason.
(23m 54s)
And then there’s this one which is set up like the world championships.
(23m 58s) Codey:
Okay, cool.
(23m 59s) Al:
So there you go.
Moonlight Peaks
(24m 1s) Al:
Next up, Moonlight Peaks have released a small update.
(24m 4s)
And I’m only really mentioning this because we mentioned the opposite of what happened
(24m 7s)
in this in the last update.
(24m 9s)
So me and Chelsea were talking about how…
(24m 11s)
they had just released an update that nerfed a bunch of sell rates for things.
(24m 17s)
Well, in this update they said…
(24m 41s)
they also upgraded bulk cooking to be even more bulky.
(24m 45s)
Yeah, I don’t think I mentioned this in the last episode, they added
(24m 48s)
bulk cooking because previously cooking was really annoying.
(24m 52s)
It was just you could only do one at a time and it was really slow because it
(24m 55s)
had a little minigame. The minigame… I don’t remember
(24m 57s)
whether we talked about the cooking minigame but it was
(25m)
fine. I didn’t hate the cooking minigame but it was just really slow because you
(25m 3s)
had to do it one at a time. Whereas now you can do up to 25 at once
(25m 7s)
which is much, much better.
(25m 10s) Codey:
We do be lovin’ some bulk.
(25m 13s)
So this is one that I like, ‘cause I heard, so seeing them say, “We heard your feedback,”
(25m 19s)
I was like, “Oh, oh heck, that probably means that you got some real bad stuff.”
(25m 25s) Al:
Yeah
(25m 27s) Codey:
And the top review, literally it says, “Most helpful reviews,” is someone on the 21st of
(25m 32s)
August saying, “I loved Moonlight Peaks.
(25m 34s)
I genuinely looked forward to playing it every day, which is what makes me leaving a negative
(25m 38s)
review so disappointing.
(25m 41s)
And this person had played 121 hours at the review time and basically it was
(25m 48s)
about the nerf and how the nerf sucked which I’m I just like like I’m a little
(25m 56s)
like do we leave reviews or do we just should we just do discussion like
(26m 1s)
community thing at that point because now someone who’s coming into this game
(26m 5s)
Like, because they just fixed it, right?
(26m 7s)
Like, in this new, new, uh…
(26m 10s)
update that they just posted.
(26m 12s)
But, if someone wanted to come and play this game
(26m 14s)
now, they would come and they just see
(26m 16s)
this incredibly negative review.
(26m 18s)
Top, front, and center.
(26m 20s)
Um…
(26m 22s)
I don’t know, part of me is like, should we leave
(26m 24s)
this kind of feedback as a review
(26m 26s)
versus… especially because this is something
(26m 28s)
that’s, like, temporary, you know?
(26m 29s) Al:
Yeah, it’s a it’s a difficult thing, right? Because I think reviews, like a bunch of negative reviews after an update, do certainly
(26m 37s)
encourage developers to reverse course on unpopular decisions. The problem is
(26m 44s)
that when you then go back and fix that,
(26m 50s)
people don’t update their reviews.
(26m 52s)
Because the second top one is the exact same. It’s saying I wouldn’t recommend this game anymore after the new update.
(26m 58s)
There’s no point in nerfing prices in a single player cozy game.
(26m 58s) Codey:
Yeah.
(26m 59s) Al:
So like, yeah, the top two are both about the same thing and neither of them have been
(27m 6s)
edited since that, which they dealt with your problem.
(27m 11s)
So like, fix your review.
(27m 15s)
You know, if you still don’t recommend it because of other reasons, that’s fine.
(27m 19s)
But like, if you’re going to, yeah, if you’re going to make leave a review based on an update,
(27m 23s)
then update your review based on another update, right?
(27m 26s)
Like, that’s only fair, surely.
(27m 26s) Codey:
Yeah, or have it say, like, “This is just at the time” or something like that.
(27m 35s)
And I guess, like, the first person says, “I’m shelving it, I really hope the developers reconsider these economy changes.”
(27m 40s)
Yeah, I don’t know. It’s like, “You just left?” What? Anyway.
(27m 46s)
Well, glad that they fixed it, because it sounds like they had a good amount of people who were really enjoying the game,
(27m 52s)
and this really bummed him out so hopefully they can reel those people in.
(27m 54s) Al:
Yeah. Yes, all the comments on the patch update are very positive.
Story Of Seasons / Rune Factory
(28m 2s) Al:
Story of Seasons and Rune Factory. I’ve bundled these together because
(28m 7s)
they’re so small, but there was, last week, on my birthday, an anniversary - was it 30th
(28m 17s)
anniversary? I think - of Story of Seasons live stream, and most of it was just like,
(28m 22s)
“Aren’t we great?”
(28m 24s)
“Aren’t our games great?”
(28m 25s)
Blah, blah, blah, blah, sure, fine.
(28m 27s)
Incredibly boring.
(28m 28s)
Three hours long!
(28m 29s) Codey:
[laughs]
(28m 31s) Al:
I watched the entire thing!
(28m 34s)
And then right at the end,
(28m 35s)
right at the end of this three hours,
(28m 36s)
they show a 10-second clip of stuff for the new games.
(28m 44s)
Sadly, not enough to make me think
(28m 47s)
that the game’s actually coming out this year,
(28m 49s)
R.I.P. my last game on my game draft,
(28m 51s)
but yeah the…
(28m 54s)
So a little clip, so if you want to look at it, Codey, it’s in the show notes, if you instead of clicking on the embedded video, if you instead click on the video into YouTube, it should take you to the time, but it will be at 1 hour 20 minutes, gets the RuneFactory one.
(29m 5s) Codey:
Oh. Oh. Oh. It sure says starting.
(29m 18s) Al:
If you go to 1 hour 20 minutes, it will get you to that.
(29m 26s) Codey:
Oh my goodness, one hour.
(29m 29s)
I also am so awful at watching things in real time ever since I’ve been listening to podcasts
(29m 35s)
on two times.
(29m 38s) Al:
So you get a little like 10 second clip of Rune Factory stuff and it’s uh you’ve got the little
(29m 43s)
I can’t remember what woolies I think they’re called there’s some woolies walking around you
(29m 46s) Codey:
Mm-hmm (affirmative).
(29m 47s) Al:
see a little farm plot you see a town it looks like quite a big built up town um and then some
(29m 55s)
more woolies walking around and and that’s it that’s that’s not even the name of a game it’s
(30m 2s)
just just uh assumption that it’s rune factory because it’s woolies and then
(30m 7s) Codey:
Yeah. Okay it just started. I love how it’s not even game footage, it’s like pretty footage.
(30m 8s) Al:
And then at 1 hour 21 and 55 seconds
(30m 14s) Codey:
Okay.
(30m 23s)
blue blue and 20 how many seconds yum yum yum yum yum okay
(30m 25s) Al:
uh 55
(30m 29s)
we get a little hint of the next story of seasons game
(30m 32s)
footage is representative of work in progress it says you see some seagulls flying over some water
(30m 37s) Codey:
Yeah.
(30m 38s) Al:
a town you see some farm plots uh you see some crops some lettuce some strawberries
(30m 41s) Codey:
Yeah.
(30m 45s) Al:
um but then and then it’s it’s evening the sun is setting it’s night time there’s lights
(30m 45s) Codey:
Some cherry trees, a dock.
(30m 52s)
Big ol’– big cows.
(30m 53s) Al:
and then you got the cows and the chickens as usual the same cows and chickens as always
(31m)
and then that’s it
(31m 4s) Codey:
For real? For real? Okay, that’s…
(31m 5s) Al:
that’s it and though we don’t get a name for either of
(31m 7s) Codey:
Was it worth it?
(31m 8s) Al:
games we don’t get nope it was not worth three hours um I don’t know why this this is interesting
(31m 10s) Codey:
[laughs]
(31m 14s) Al:
because this is the this is the the u.s stream the japanese one was longer and this is just an
(31m 19s)
hour and a half this american one I watched the entirety of the japanese one so that is all we
(31m 27s)
know about the upcoming rune factory presumably rune factory 6 and the upcoming story of seasons
(31m 34s) Codey:
And that, that doesn’t give you any points for your draft, so.
(31m 34s) Al:
Who knows when they’ll come out?
(31m 38s)
No, it does not, it does not.
(31m 39s)
But I am still beating you right now.
(31m 42s)
So next we have Farming Simulator 25.
(31m 42s) Codey:
No!
Farming Simulator 25
(31m 46s) Al:
They’ve announced their beans and alpacas expansion.
(31m 50s)
And can you guess what it includes?
(31m 51s) Codey:
Uh, crocodiles and parrots!
(31m 54s) Al:
[laughs]
(31m 56s) Codey:
The joke is that it does also include crocodiles and parrots.
(32m 1s)
But yeah, this is basically an expansion that is South America inspired is what it says.
(32m 6s)
And you basically go to a new area that is based in South America and looks like South
(32m 13s)
America.
(32m 14s)
And you have a bean farm and alpaca walking around.
(32m 20s)
There’s also Brahman cows.
(32m 22s)
Like, just cute cows.
(32m 23s) Al:
Obviously.
(32m 24s) Codey:
And then it says crocodiles and parrots, but I didn’t see any in the trailer.
(32m 28s)
And I’m really concerned about, or not, because it said, they said something like,
(32m 33s)
“They make the world richer,” or like, “Make the world seem more vibrant,” or whatever.
(32m 39s)
And I’m like, okay, but like, do we have to worry about our alpacas and crocodiles?
(32m 44s)
Like, this is important information.
(32m 51s) Al:
Yeah.
(32m 51s) Codey:
So, and they have not addressed, I don’t see an answer to that question, so.
(32m 57s)
Because if they’re just for decoration, if they’re just like, chilling, then it’s fine.
(33m 1s)
But if it’s like, “Don’t put your alpaca farm near the water,” like, that’s pretty gruesome.
(33m 7s) Al:
Which does feel like a farming simulator thing, right?
(33m 10s) Codey:
Oh, you’re right, you’re right.
(33m 11s)
Yeah, this is Farming Simulator we’re talking about, so.
(33m 15s) Al:
Yeah, so it said, “Wild animals like crocodiles and parrots bring more life to the environment.”
(33m 15s) Codey:
But, yeah.
(33m 21s)
So, I guess not more death to the environment, so maybe we’re fine.
(33m 23s) Al:
Well, who knows? Maybe both.
(33m 28s) Codey:
But, yeah, October of this year, just a month away.
(33m 35s) Al:
Yeah, and it’s twenty six pounds
(33m 35s) Codey:
Wild.
(33m 36s)
I hate, I hate that.
(33m 40s)
That’s a no from me, dog!
(33m 44s) Al:
However, if you don’t already own farming simulator 25 you can buy a bundle that includes it for
(33m 53s)
Was that 43 pounds
(33m 56s)
But this is here’s the so here’s the mad thing
(33m 56s) Codey:
That’s still a “no” from me.
(33m 59s) Al:
So the farming simulator 25 is currently listed on steam with no discount for 26 pounds
(34m 5s) Codey:
Mm-hmm.
(34m 5s) Al:
This expansion is 26 pounds
(34m 8s) Codey:
Mm-hmm.
(34m 8s) Al:
Are we saying that this expansion includes as much content as the base game?
(34m 13s) Codey:
Well, it’s basically just a whole new area.
(34m 15s) Al:
Yeah, but that’s like the same price
(34m 16s) Codey:
I don’t know. There’s no logic.
(34m 19s)
There’s no logic in this place.
Petite Planet
(34m 22s) Al:
Next up petite planet as Codey writes here. This is the Hoyo verse
(34m 26s)
farming game
(34m 27s) Codey:
[laughs]
(34m 28s) Al:
They have announced that it is coming in winter winter of 2026
(34m 33s) Codey:
Al, I specifically wrote “Oh damn, Hoylmer!”
(34m 35s) Al:
You
(34m 37s)
Yeah, you’re acting like you’ve not seen this before I also saw like how your verse announced like six games or something in a gamescom
(34m 44s) Codey:
Oh my god, my goodness.
(34m 47s) Al:
Slow down guys, come on
(34m 49s) Codey:
They’re just really making sure that they don’t want to slow down this money train.
(34m 55s)
I feel like, especially if they have a lot of people playing their other games,
(34m 58s)
it is probably an easy thing to pull people over.
(35m 1s)
I’m sure that they’re going to do things like
(35m 3s)
play both of these games and get in-game blah blah blah blah blah.
(35m 9s) Al:
So there’s a new trailer for this game as well. As of now we still don’t know
(35m 14s)
where the gacha is coming in
(35m 16s) Codey:
Mm-hmm, but we know it’s coming.
(35m 16s) Al:
Presuming it’s going to be gacha. They haven’t actually officially said it, but let’s let’s be honest
(35m 18s) Codey:
Hoyovers.
(35m 22s) Al:
Yeah, so there’s a lot still to know about this game, but winter 2026 now
(35m 27s)
It’s not winter 2026/2027. They’re saying winter 2026. So that would imply December
(35m 34s) Codey:
To me, winter 2026 implies, like, when is the solstice?
(35m 40s)
Octo?
(35m 41s)
No.
(35m 41s) Al:
No, December.
(35m 42s) Codey:
November, I think.
(35m 43s)
November 21st?
(35m 43s) Al:
No, December. December 25th.
(35m 44s) Codey:
Or is it in December?
(35m 45s)
Oh my goodness.
(35m 47s)
Well in my brain, it’s uh, when I think winter, I think November.
(35m 52s) Al:
So well, so here’s the thing so do we got to have the
(35m 56s)
The seasons discussion again, do we there are different definitions of seasons, right?
(36m 1s)
And one of them does mean starting on
(36m 5s)
Winter starting on this on the winter solstice. I think that one is stupid because like most most of winter has gone by that point
(36m 13s) Codey:
Yeah, I concur.
(36m 13s) Al:
It’s basically Christmas, right? Like that’s the middle of winter. That’s not the not the beginning of winter madness to me
(36m 21s)
Personally, my favorite.
(36m 22s)
definition of the seasons is the 4-2-4-2, so summer and winter being four months,
(36m 28s)
and autumn and spring being two months. But I know a lot of people don’t like that.
(36m 30s) Codey:
I mean, I don’t like it because I want the I want it to be reversed.
(36m 37s)
I want winter and summer to last two months, but you can’t.
(36m 40s) Al:
Well, I actually, yeah, I mean, I agree with you, but that, that is, that is not a problem
(36m 44s)
with definitions. That’s a problem with the way the earth spins.
(36m 50s) Codey:
That frickin’ earth, man, she’s just ruining lives.
(36m 54s) Al:
I actually, I’ve talked a long time about how I don’t hate summer and I don’t hate winter.
(36m 58s)
I just wish they were quicker. I don’t, I just wish the year was half its current length.
(37m 4s)
Like see if the year was six months, not a year, not 12 months. And then like winter
(37m 10s)
like two months each. And then it’s like, you’re getting through these seasons quicker.
(37m 14s)
It’s cause my problem is not the heat or the cold. My problem is they just feel like they’re
(37m 19s)
lasting forever. And it’s like by, by the beginning of August, I’m like, I’m done with
(37m 21s) Codey:
Yeah.
(37m 24s) Al:
the heat. Can we get rid of the heat, please give me some cold. And then by January I’m
(37m 28s)
like, no, it’s been dark and cold for months. Give me some sun. Right? So that’s my problem.
(37m 33s)
It’s just everything lasts too long, I want the year to be faster.
(37m 38s) Codey:
Well, as a scientist who’s part of the, uh, the big conglomerate of, like, blah blah,
(37m 46s)
‘cause we control the weather, right?
(37m 48s)
There’s scientists and other people who control the weather.
(37m 49s) Al:
You want us to speed the earth up?
(37m 51s) Codey:
I’ll get on it.
(37m 53s)
[laughs] Wee!
(37m 57s) Al:
How, well here’s an interesting question. This is quite the tangent and I really should not be
(38m 2s)
making tangents because it’s 10pm, I want to go to bed. But if we could speed up the earth,
(38m 7s)
but big assumption, if we could consistently speed up the earth to make it to double the speed
(38m 15s)
so that it’s going around the sun twice as fast. Let’s forget about what that was.
(38m 17s) Codey:
Ugh. Okay. Okay.
(38m 19s) Al:
mean for orbit. Just forget about that for a minute. How quickly could we speed the Earth
(38m 24s)
up without having disastrous environmental consequences?
(38m 28s) Codey:
None.
(38m 31s)
So even if, like, even if you speed it up, like, a week, say a week, there are some,
(38m 38s)
there’s gonna be some species that are reliant on certain environmental conditions, and those
(38m 46s)
conditions are gonna last for a smaller amount of time, like a narrower window, and that
(38m 52s)
species is gonna get hecked up.
(38m 54s)
And that’s stuff that’s going to happen like over and over and over in all of the
(38m 58s)
ecosystems of the world and it’s just going to mess us up so the answer is none.
(39m 4s)
We have all evolved to be a 365 quote day, sorry year, and have the seasons that we have
(39m 14s)
so evolutionarily we would be very upset.
(39m 15s) Al:
right okay but hear me out more christmases
(39m 18s) Codey:
Okay, I don’t celebrate Christmas.
(39m 26s) Al:
more birthdays
(39m 28s) Codey:
I especially don’t celebrate birthdays.
(39m 30s)
I’m not the right person to say holidays to.
(39m 32s) Al:
wouldn’t it be great if we could all live to 200 i’m just lengthening all our lives here
(39m 33s) Codey:
Other people, no, no.
(39m 39s)
Dude whenever someone’s like oh we’re going to live forever like I’m going to increase
(39m 42s)
my lifespan I’m like man no or like become a mortal I’m like nah at a certain point I’m
(39m 48s)
going to be like I’m done.
(39m 49s) Al:
Do you know the worst one of those? Well yeah, I agree with you. I wouldn’t want to be immortal.
(39m 55s)
I would like to be theoretically immortal with the ability to decide to end my life at any point.
(40m 2s) Codey:
Mm-hmm. Yeah.
(40m 2s) Al:
So it’s like you can live for as long as you want but then you can be like I’m done now.
(40m 6s)
I would like that. No, the worst one is the guy, I can’t remember his name, but there’s a guy
(40m 11s)
who’s like does, he’s like super famous for being like doing all these things that you know would
(40m 17s)
would extend your life theoretically.
(40m 19s) Codey:
Mm-hmm.
(40m 19s) Al:
If you had a child basically as an organ donor?
(40m 23s) Codey:
[gasps]
(40m 23s) Al:
You’re like, this is dreadful.
(40m 24s) Codey:
[laughs]
(40m 26s)
That is unethical!
(40m 28s) Al:
Yes, yes it is.
(40m 28s) Codey:
[laughs]
(40m 31s)
Isn’t there…
(40m 31s) Al:
But then a lot of things that people do are unethical, so.
(40m 34s) Codey:
I feel like there’s a whole movie about that,
(40m 36s)
about, like, some—not having it for—a kid for it,
(40m 39s)
but, like, having…
(40m 41s)
they have two children and one of their children
(40m 43s)
kind of just becomes, like, a blood donor
(40m 45s) Al:
Yeah, yeah, no, I don’t know. Yeah, I remember that. Yeah. Yeah, I don’t know whether that one’s based on a true story or not
(40m 46s) Codey:
for the other one or something like that.
(40m 51s) Al:
But yeah, I don’t remember what you’re talking about. All right, that’s petite planet
(40m 56s) Codey:
(laughs) Yeah.
(40m 56s) Al:
New trailer go check it out
(40m 58s)
I’ve also seen a bunch of people talking about it because the beta is
(41m 1s)
Like there’s a private beta and so I’ve seen some people talking about how it works
(41m 5s)
Obviously, it doesn’t have the gacha stuff in it. There’s a bunch of features that are just like coming
(41m 10s) Codey:
Does it have- so the- in the trailer, the little bit of a trailer,
(41m 14s)
you know what? I can- you don’t have to do the emotional labor for me.
(41m 17s)
I can look that up later myself. Never mind.
(41m 20s) Al:
But is it an interesting discussion or not?
(41m 22s) Codey:
Well, so the beginning of the trailer has the person walking around like a sphere.
(41m 27s)
And my brain was, is- is it a sphere? Like, does it look like a sphere?
(41m 33s)
Because that would bring me back to the traumatic-ness of, what is it, wild world?
(41m 39s)
like the animal crossing.
(41m 40s)
I am literally, we, because we just packed everything and moved, we literally packed
(41m 41s) Al:
Um
(41m 46s)
Fair enough, you know what you do like though right now on switch
Research Story
(41m 57s) Codey:
both of our switches and we’re like, man, we never touch these things.
(42m)
And then the second I saw this, I went and grabbed my switch and started charging it.
(42m 3s) Al:
[laughter]
(42m 5s) Codey:
Especially because of the big bad pharma issue happening right now.
(42m 8s)
as well.
(42m 11s)
Crank this up, so I’m excited about that.
Haunted Chocolatier
(42m 14s) Al:
and we have an update on Haunted Chocolatier.
(42m 17s)
It’s still coming.
(42m 19s) Codey:
He still do be working on it.
(42m 21s) Al:
That’s, I can’t, I, I, it’s hilarious.
(42m 24s)
I actually, I do like these blog posts
(42m 27s)
that he does every so often,
(42m 28s)
‘cause like, yeah, I’m still working, don’t worry.
(42m 30s)
I’ve not forgotten, I’ve not stopped, I’m still going.
(42m 32s) Codey:
Yeah
(42m 32s) Al:
It’s, I kind of like that,
(42m 33s)
‘cause I almost prefer that to the silence
(42m 37s)
of like Team Cherry or whatever,
(42m 37s) Codey:
Yeah
(42m 39s) Al:
where you’re just like, is it actually coming?
(42m 41s) Codey:
You like
(42m 42s) Al:
Like, probably is, but like we have.
(42m 44s)
I haven’t had confirmation of that in years, like, yeah.
(42m 47s) Codey:
Maybe one day question mark Wow. No, no
(42m 49s) Al:
It’s been six years since he announced this game now.
(42m 51s)
Do you think he regrets it?
(42m 54s)
Announcing it?
(42m 55s)
No?
(42m 56s)
Sorry, not six years.
(42m 57s)
Five years.
(42m 58s) Codey:
No, I think I mean I think in the he in the thing
(43m 2s)
in the blog post, he says something like
(43m 6s)
I don’t know. Maybe the vibe I got was
(43m 9s) Al:
Yeah, he definitely talks about how people are supportive, which is good. But you’ve
(43m 14s)
got to imagine that when he announced it five years ago, there’s no way he was thinking
(43m 19s) Codey:
Yeah, that’s true. I definitely, anything, if I was working on a project for, if I was
(43m 24s)
about to start a project that was going to take me five years, I would not be talking
(43m 27s)
about it. I might be like, I got something in the works. If people were like, what do
(43m 28s) Al:
No. I don’t think I’ve worked on anything for five years except this podcast and my family.
(43m 31s) Codey:
you do? Yeah.
(43m 39s) Al:
Like, there’s nothing else I’ve worked on that long.
(43m 42s)
I don’t think I’ve even been at a company for five years. Although, will be soon, sadly.
(43m 45s) Codey:
[laughs]
(43m 50s) Al:
I mean, if my employer’s listening, happily, very happy, happy, happy, happy,
(43m 54s)
Keep giving me money, give me more money.
(43m 56s) Codey:
[laughs]
(43m 57s)
He deserves more money.
New Games
(43m 59s) Al:
Let’s talk about some new games. So first up, we have a game called Keep Watering.
Keep Watering
(44m 4s) Al:
Keep Watering is an incremental game with a cozy, hypnotic loop where every drop of water grows into something
(44m 12s)
extraordinary.
(44m 13s) Codey:
Al, what is– what are your thoughts about that blurb?
(44m 16s)
How do you feel about that?
(44m 18s) Al:
Well, obviously I don’t like cozy.
(44m 20s) Codey:
Mm-hmm.
(44m 21s) Al:
Extra- I’ll let them have extraordinary because
(44m 23s) Codey:
Hypnotic, though?
(44m 25s) Al:
hypnotic, hmm.
(44m 28s)
They’re definitely probably going for that.
(44m 29s) Codey:
I guess, like, when I saw “hypnotic,” I was like,
(44m 32s)
“What? What are you– what does this mean?”
(44m 35s)
Like, when you’re describing–
(44m 37s)
if I were to describe a game to you and I were to be like,
(44m 39s)
“It’s really hypnotic.”
(44m 40s)
like what what what is the
(44m 43s)
invoke for you evoke what how do you feel about that because I was like uh I don’t know what that
(44m 45s) Al:
Yeah, so I guess for me that would mean like, almost like the Tetris effect, where it moves
(44m 56s)
you into a different state of mind where all you’re focusing on is the game and you’re
(45m 2s)
not really conscious fully, but you are just doing the game, you are in the flow, in the
(45m 8s)
game, you are doing what you need to do. Does that make sense?
(45m 12s) Codey:
Yeah, I don’t know if I want that, but yeah…
(45m 15s) Al:
I think, Codey, this feels like a follow-up to The Farmer Was Replaced.
(45m 23s) Codey:
It did it really does like it look watching
(45m 26s) Al:
I think we need to do this, I think me and you need to play this game when it comes out.
(45m 33s) Codey:
No, that- yeah, I think this is like the farmer was replaced, but without me having to think about things.
(45m 39s) Al:
Yeah, yeah, it’s not coding just to make it clear. It’s not coding, but it definitely gives the like the slowly the incremental build-up of
(45m 40s) Codey:
Um…
(45m 42s)
Yeah.
(45m 49s)
Yeah, like it’s tiny and then you unlock and especially the decision tree was very the farmer was replaced of like, okay
(45m 54s) Al:
The dis- yes, yeah. I’m-
(45m 57s) Codey:
now you’re gonna unlock this thing and
(46m)
And now suddenly you can use this crop
(46m 2s)
But it’s there’s some some caveats about how to use this crop in relation to other crops like at least that’s the vibe
(46m 8s)
I’m getting from it. So
(46m 9s) Al:
- Yeah, I agree.
(46m 11s) Codey:
Oh my gosh, the publisher’s name is lazy otter. Um, I
(46m 14s) Al:
It’s also, also got a Mac bill.
(46m 17s) Codey:
I did see that.
(46m 18s) Al:
[laughs]
(46m 20s) Codey:
You know me, any time I see any of these games, the first thing I look at is does it work on Mac?
(46m 26s)
Though I will say, my PC is sitting right here next to me and I’m going to be setting it up at my work desk
(46m 34s)
and we’re going to find out if that’s a mistake.
(46m 36s)
I don’t think it will be because when I sit down here, there’s also a microscope in my face
(46m 40s)
and I’m like, “Oh, I could be looking at bugs.”
(46m 42s) Al:
[laughs]
(46m 44s) Codey:
So I don’t think that would be too much of a mistake.
(46m 49s)
To play PC games, I was going to say non-Mac, non-Steam Deck games.
(46m 56s)
The word for that is PC games.
(47m)
I could play them now.
Farm And Feast
(47m 3s) Al:
Next up farm and feast. Grow fresh ingredients and run your own little restaurant. Enjoy a peaceful
(47m 11s)
day that stretches from the field to the table. Plan a fresh menu for a delightful day. Keep your
(47m 18s)
pantry full and make your customers happy. Earn your own money and build your little world step
(47m 24s)
by step. [laughter] Am…
(47m 25s) Codey:
Peaceful? Question mark?
(47m 27s)
So, because it looks like the farming, or sorry, the feasting part, the restaurant part
(47m 34s)
looks a little bit like Diner Dash, which I don’t know if I would call that peaceful.
(47m 40s)
Satisfying would be a correct word. I really find those games, those types of games satisfying.
(47m 45s)
But I would not say, oh, I want a peaceful moment in time, so I’m going to turn this
(47m 50s)
game on.
(47m 52s) Al:
The cooking minigame looks real weird, where you’re like slingshotting things onto a tree.
(47m 55s) Codey:
Yeah, yeah, the physics in general just look really silly like you’re when you’re watering
(47m 59s) Al:
I like, I like the-
(48m 5s) Codey:
and then you let go of your hose your hose just like rubber bands halfway across your farm.
(48m 12s) Al:
So what I will say is, you say it looks like it could,
(48m 15s)
it’s not peaceful, it looks more stressful than that.
(48m 20s)
What I will say is, I don’t see a timer
(48m 22s)
and I don’t see them rushing.
(48m 24s)
So maybe it is just like as you get to it
(48m 29s) Codey:
Yeah, I want to say like, so the stress part is probably coming from my end then, because
(48m 35s)
if I were to play a game like this, even if there’s, even if the people that are standing
(48m 39s)
in line and waiting are not like getting grumpier and grumpier, even if they’re just like chilling,
(48m 45s)
I’m still going to be like those people have been waiting a really long time to get a table.
(48m 50s)
I need to clean and this other person has been waiting for their food and you know,
(48m 55s)
even if it’s it would be you know self-imposed I guess and maybe that’s something
(48m 59s)
I need to work on but I do think this is a game that I want to play.
(49m) Al:
[laughing]
(49m 3s)
You’re rocking up to your therapist.
(49m 4s)
So I’ve been playing a game
(49m 6s)
and I think I need to work on myself.
(49m 8s)
[laughing]
(49m 9s) Codey:
Well, so that’s, I mean, that’s something like just being in the post-dissertation time frame
(49m 14s)
as well. And now that we’re done moving, my day, the jobs that I have now, I have multiple,
(49m 21s)
but they’re all like self, like I get to schedule my own time. There’s no deadline. There’s not like
(49m 27s)
the dissertation deadline lumen. And if I don’t get it, then I’m going to get screwed or anything.
(49m 31s)
It’s just all based on like, how much do I want to slash can I work in a week? And I have, it’s
(49m 39s)
three different universities. So, um, yeah. And, and so it’s, I’m kind of like learning how to
(49m 46s)
slow things down and like not have to deal with these like fast paced things. So maybe by the
(49m 51s)
time this game comes out, I’ll, I’ll have that covered. I won’t be like, Oh, there’s a project
(49m 56s)
over there and I need to do it right now, right now, right now. I’m like, no, I’ll get to it.
(50m)
It’s going to be okay. But yeah, chalk me up for this game. I’d play it.
(50m 4s) Al:
nice nice yeah I think i’m gonna I think i’m think i’m gonna attempt to play
(50m 10s) Codey:
[laughs]
(50m 12s) Al:
I like the graphics I really think it looks the graphics definitely give peaceful
(50m 17s)
they’re like almost kind of watercolor-y type graphics also mac os and linux
(50m 20s) Codey:
Also, Mac OS.
(50m 27s) Al:
next up is this one of the ones you have an issue with hammer and harvest dwarven roots
Hammer And Harvest: Dwarven Roots
(50m 33s) Codey:
What?
(50m 34s)
Have an issue with?
(50m 34s) Al:
wasn’t it’s not not this one well you’d said that there were ones that don’t count as uh
(50m 35s) Codey:
Oh.
(50m 36s)
Nope.
(50m 37s)
This is fine.
(50m 40s) Al:
for the podcast this is definitely not it because a dwarf farm sim the days of dragon’s fire have
(50m 46s)
ended and now the dwarf king has commissioned you to reclaim the ancient halls grow crops
(50m 51s)
harvest crystals mine ores and craft works of awe and wonder enrich your home beneath the mountains
(50m 57s)
before the dwarf king returns to judge your progress oh bye um
(51m 4s) Codey:
yep nope uh so from so there’s a bit of uh like when I imagine dwarves I imagine that like they’re
(51m 4s) Al:
I don’t like the graphics on this one
(51m 15s) Codey:
getting their food through trade not them doing it on their own so because they live underground
(51m 21s)
like my dude how are you gonna do that um but yeah I mean that’s I also just i’m I have been
(51m 30s)
Even averse to not 8-bit, what is it?
(51m 34s)
This type of graphic.
(51m 36s)
Cel-shaded? Is that what it’s called? I don’t know.
(51m 39s) Al:
This is where we need a maker.
(51m 43s) Codey:
I’ve just been like a little sick of this type of graphics
(51m 46s)
myself, but I do think like it seems rich.
(51m 51s)
The world seems pretty rich.
(51m 53s)
Like there were a good amount of NPCs.
(51m 58s)
The color palette was really interesting for a lot of the stuff.
(52m 4s)
The world itself but also like you can make your beard purple or whatever.
(52m 12s)
It’s something that hasn’t been done.
(52m 15s)
Starting to be dwarves.
(52m 18s)
At least not to my knowledge.
(52m 21s)
I would foresee a dwarf game being more mind-based.
(52m 26s) Al:
- Yeah, you do mine as well.
(52m 28s)
But yeah, no, I understand where you’re coming from.
(52m 32s)
There does seem to be a market that you go up
(52m 35s)
to do as well.
(52m 36s)
And I think, based on what I’m seeing here,
(52m 39s)
it looks like the farming is above ground.
(52m 42s)
So you go above ground to farm, and then you go back down.
(52m 42s) Codey:
Oh, okay, okay.
(52m 46s) Al:
Just based on that lighting,
(52m 48s)
‘cause all of the other bits are darker.
(52m 50s)
And then the farming and the market
(52m 53s)
are much look light wise.
(52m 56s)
Like they are above.
(52m 59s) Codey:
Yeah, I mean, I’m interested to see more of it and hear more of it, but probs not for me
(53m 5s) Al:
Yeah, yeah, we shall keep an eye on it.
Isle Of Food
(53m 8s) Al:
Next up, Isle of Food.
(53m 11s)
Can you cook when nothing is given to you?
(53m 13s)
Hunt, fish, gather, and farm your way
(53m 16s)
to running a stylish island restaurant
(53m 17s)
in this open world, cozy VR cooking game.
(53m 20s) Codey:
What does this mean? Can you cook when nothing is given to you?
(53m 20s) Al:
Oh, but you weren’t expecting that.
(53m 26s)
So I’m guessing the point is like you don’t have,
(53m 28s)
you have to like farm everything,
(53m 29s)
I’m guessing is the point.
(53m 32s) Codey:
That’s kind of an awkward statement.
(53m 34s)
Um, like, yeah, ‘cause I just go to the store and buy stuff to [laughs]
(53m 35s) Al:
Yeah.
(53m 41s)
Yeah, it’s funny because it’s like,
(53m 42s)
also that’s kind of like how all farming games work,
(53m 45s)
nothing’s given to you except maybe a plot of land.
(53m 47s) Codey:
A farm. [laughs]
(53m 49s) Al:
But like, it looks like an island is given to you here,
(53m 50s) Codey:
The farm itself.
(53m 52s) Al:
right, like it’s not like that’s unique in this aspect.
(53m 53s) Codey:
Yeah.
(53m 55s)
I think the VR aspect is really interesting,
(53m 58s)
and it seems like it was really rich in love.
(54m 2s)
like the restaurant running side of it and like cooking.
(54m 7s)
I had a double take in the,
(54m 11s)
when you’re walking through and you have a slingshot,
(54m 13s)
I was like, what the heck are you using a slingshot for?
(54m 15s)
And then you slingshot a chicken
(54m 16s)
and the chicken like gets dizzy and falls over
(54m 19s)
and then turns into a chicken breast.
(54m 21s) Al:
[Chuckling]
(54m 22s) Codey:
It’s like, oh my God.
(54m 24s)
Especially because I don’t think chickens would,
(54m 26s) Al:
How do you think you get chicken nuggets? Come on!
(54m 29s) Codey:
no, no, no, I don’t think chickens,
(54m 32s)
I guess they could be your chickens,
(54m 33s)
but I was just like,
(54m 34s)
I don’t think chickens are just something
(54m 35s)
that’s gonna just show up on a wild,
(54m 37s)
like wild on an island for you to just like go hunt.
(54m 43s) Al:
I mean, some chickens are wild.
(54m 45s) Codey:
But not on islands usually.
(54m 47s) Al:
I don’t know, it depends what was on the island before.
(54m 48s) Codey:
Usually, that’s true.
(54m 51s)
But I was just, I think I was very shocked.
(54m 55s)
I was like, oh, look, you’re gonna hunt something.
(54m 57s)
And it’s a chicken.
(55m 2s) Al:
Yeah, I don’t know whether this is so,
(55m 5s)
you also shoot a deer with a bow and arrow, but.
(55m 11s)
This feels quite big for VR.
(55m 15s)
Like, I don’t know, is this gonna feel,
(55m 19s)
I mean, I know some people really want
(55m 21s)
like big immersive experiences in VR,
(55m 23s)
but that’s not really what I’m looking for, personally.
(55m 26s)
But, do you wanna know a secret?
(55m 29s) Codey:
Yeah. Ooooooh! And? Okay. Well, I’m interested to hear because, so I don’t think I’ll ever do VR.
(55m 30s) Al:
I have this game.
(55m 32s)
I haven’t tried it yet.
(55m 34s)
[laughs]
(55m 39s)
Yeah.
(55m 41s) Codey:
I got vertigo a long time ago and it’s the same feeling as when you’re doing VR and like,
(55m 45s) Al:
Yeah.
(55m 47s) Codey:
or when you come out of VR and you have that bit of a “woo” like going back into the real world.
(55m 52s) Al:
Yeah.
(55m 52s) Codey:
And that, like, I have like a visceral reaction to that. So, I mean.
(55m 59s)
It could just be something that I just need to do more often and get over, but I have decided that no, so far.
(56m 4s) Al:
Yeah, it’s definitely it’s definitely a hump you have to get over like when I first started because I got into VR with
(56m 10s)
Beat Saber because I was like I need to be because I love I love rhythm games and I really miss Guitar Hero
(56m 11s) Codey:
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. See that?
(56m 14s)
Yeah.
(56m 18s) Al:
which
(56m 18s) Codey:
Yeah.
(56m 19s) Al:
Yes, they have announced new was it stage tour?
(56m 22s)
I think is the new game that is a Guitar Hero style game, which I’m currently debating whether I’m going to buy or not
(56m 29s)
But I was like, “Oh, Beat Saber, this is absolutely for me,” and so I got a headset.
(56m 35s)
And interestingly, I didn’t feel sick at all. I did feel sometimes a little bit weird,
(56m 35s) Codey:
Yeah, that’s good.
(56m 42s) Al:
especially the last, so not the current headset I had, the one before that. It would sometimes
(56m 47s)
like freeze, but because you’re looking through cameras, it’s like the world has frozen,
(56m 52s)
and when you move and the world doesn’t move, that really messes up my brain.
(56m 56s) Codey:
Yeah.
(56m 57s) Al:
So that was bad, but the newer one is much better for that.
(57m 2s)
but, uh, what I did have to get
(57m 4s)
used to is it’s really sore on your neck to start with because you’ve got this massive heavy thing
(57m 9s) Codey:
Mmm. Yeah.
(57m 10s) Al:
at the front of your head and there are a couple of ways you can solve that but one of the ways is
(57m 14s)
you just need to get used to it and like you use it for a short amount of time every day for like
(57m 19s)
a couple of weeks and the muscles in your neck get stronger and then it’s just then it’s fine
(57m 23s)
it’s not a problem after that but it’s just like that’s not what that is not what I thought the
(57m 26s) Codey:
Yeah, well…
(57m 27s) Al:
issue would be with VR but it turned out that was the issue for the first couple months was
(57m 31s)
I had a sore neck most of the time but…
(57m 34s)
it’s just one of these things where when you’re not used to using a muscle in that way
(57m 37s)
it just builds up over time and then you’re fine again.
(57m 40s) Codey:
Yeah, there’s a right down the street from me. There’s like a
(57m 45s)
like an arcade quote-unquote, but it’s all like VR and
(57m 47s) Al:
Hmm. Yeah.
(57m 49s)
Yeah.
(57m 51s) Codey:
like
(57m 52s)
Big screens are like driving games that have like you sit in a thing and I think it like simulates
(57m 58s)
Like the feeling of driving and there’s an actual steering wheel and there’s actual like gear shifts and stuff that you have to use
(58m 6s)
And we were looking into how much it costs.
(58m 10s)
To do those things down there.
(58m 11s)
Because there’s a couple – Jeff and I would love to race each other.
(58m 16s)
In not a vehicle.
(58m 20s)
But they do have – they have some other racing games that have headsets.
(58m 23s)
So, you know, maybe if while we’re here I feel a little adventurous, I’ll try it.
(58m 29s)
And then honestly, if I like it, I’m getting Beat Saber.
(58m 32s)
Because I’m in the same boat as you.
(58m 33s) Al:
[laughs]
(58m 34s) Codey:
My big thing was DDR.
(58m 34s) Al:
Yeah.
(58m 35s) Codey:
I loved DDR.
(58m 36s) Al:
Mm, yeah.
(58m 37s) Codey:
I played it so much.
(58m 38s) Al:
Yeah, yeah.
(58m 40s)
Look, I can’t go through an arcade and not play it.
(58m 40s) Codey:
Yeah.
(58m 42s)
Like, I had – I had the Butterfly.
(58m 42s) Al:
Still, to this day.
(58m 46s) Codey:
Of course, everyone played Butterfly.
(58m 48s)
But I had it memorized so that I could play it backwards.
(58m 51s)
So that I could, like, really mess with one of my friends.
(58m 54s)
Because, yeah, we just were always challenging each other to really stupid things.
(58m 59s)
And one day I was – I, like, told them, oh, I bet you can’t do it backwards.
(59m 3s)
And they were like, you can’t.
(59m 5s)
And I just, like, started up and turned around.
(59m 7s)
I was like, heck, yeah.
(59m 7s) Al:
Yeah, it’s really fun. So I was I was a big snob when Guitar Hero first came out because
(59m 10s) Codey:
So…
(59m 13s) Al:
I am I’m a guitarist. I play guitar. That was what I was like. Oh, I was like, oh, it’s
(59m 16s) Codey:
Oh, I didn’t know that.
(59m 17s)
That’s so cool.
(59m 19s) Al:
not it’s not going to be. It’s not. It’s just stupid. It just makes people think they can
(59m 23s)
play guitar, blah, blah, blah, blah. And then I didn’t play it till like, oh, which one
(59m 28s)
was it? Three, I think, Legends of Rock. And then I played it and I was like, oh, no, this
(59m 31s) Codey:
Wow.
(59m 35s) Al:
This is this is fun
(59m 38s)
And and it was the sort of thing that I could I
(59m 43s)
Obsessed over playing through the fire and the flames
(59m 46s) Codey:
Yup. (laughs)
(59m 47s) Al:
And
(59m 49s)
Yeah, I was the same
(59m 50s)
I got to the point where it was like I could play like I couldn’t 100% on on it on expert
(59m 55s)
But I could play I could do it
(59m 56s)
I could play it and not die on
(59m 58s)
Expert and like that was always my like party trick where people were like I was like, oh you got the guitar here
(1h 4s)
“Let me get a shot” and then you just go like “da-da-da-da-da-da-da” and people
(1h 7s) Codey:
[Laughs]
(1h 7s) Al:
are like “woahhh” and you’re like “yes, I am so cool”. I’m not cool. So much fun.
(1h 11s) Codey:
Yeah, it was really cool.
(1h 14s)
Well, we’ll see if the Isle of Food has rhythm games in it.
(1h 19s) Al:
Yeah, Isle of Food to Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution. Amazing.
(1h 22s) Codey:
[Laughs]
Meadgard
(1h 26s) Al:
Next up we have Mead Guard. Oh is this the one you’re thinking of? Doesn’t count. No
(1h 30s) Codey:
Nope. This is still… So you’re still running a tavern, so…
(1h 31s) Al:
not this one either. Alright. Chaotic 1-4 player co-op.
(1h 38s)
Yeah it’s not really cottagecore but it is something.
(1h 55s) Codey:
No, it’s, I mean this, this like running a tavern to me still meets the objective and
(1h 1m)
like meets the, the whatever calling of this podcast or whatever you want to call it.
(1h 1m 7s)
So that, I didn’t have an issue with that one.
(1h 1m 9s)
I will say it’s really funny that like there’s a couple of these where it’s like and there’s
(1h 1m 13s)
a theme and we’re just gonna be like it’s, it’s like Viking themed or fantasy themed
(1h 1m 19s)
or whatever and there’s just like a whole line of these.
(1h 1m 25s)
And like I love the idea of doing something like that with multiplayer.
(1h 1m 28s)
So a lot of these games are usually like solo.
(1h 1m 33s)
Like at the tavern style game, like not tavern style, but like restaurant style games are
(1h 1m 39s)
usually just like you doing it on your own.
(1h 1m 41s)
And so I like the idea of bringing in other people to do it as well.
(1h 1m 47s) Al:
Yeah, I will say
(1h 1m 48s) Codey:
So my one comment is why are the hands so big?
(1h 1m 52s) Al:
Because you’ve got to see where they are I will say ten out of ten name Mead Gard, love it, fantastic
(1h 1m 57s) Codey:
Yes, yes, concur.
(1h 1m 59s) Al:
Because I will complain when a game has got bad names
(1h 2m 2s)
So I gotta go out when it’s got a great name. Speaking of which, Hammer and Harvest Dwarven Roots. This is a bad name
(1h 2m 8s)
Give it a better name
(1h 2m 10s)
Just call it Hammer and Harvest. Why does it need the subtitle?
(1h 2m 12s) Codey:
Yeah, just yeah, I was gonna say Hammer and Harvest is not that bad at all, but yeah, like the second part is not necessary.
(1h 2m 19s) Al:
All right, Dungeons and Dragons Long Rest Tavern.
Dungeons And Dragons: Long Rest Tavern
(1h 2m 24s) Al:
Tired of going on adventures?
(1h 2m 25s)
Build and run the finest tavern in the coziest corner
(1h 2m 29s)
of the Dungeons and Dragons universe.
(1h 2m 31s)
Let heroes face danger while you turn your tails
(1h 2m 34s)
into your, while you turn their tails into your fortune.
(1h 2m 39s)
Every legend needs a long.
(1h 2m 42s) Codey:
I like that this idea, this concept, because I do, um, there’s something really intriguing about, like, the running of a tavern, like, running something like that, and, like, there’s so many people coming in and out, and they’re so crazy, like, they’re on such crazy adventures, and you’re just like, “Wow, that’s cool. I’m just gonna keep running my tavern.”
(1h 3m 5s)
So, I do like that, and it seems like it has some type of, like, not exploration, ‘cause I don’t think you’re exp-
(1h 3m 12s)
But maybe you, like, buy out taverns in other places or something, ‘cause there was a map at one point, um…
(1h 3m 17s) Al:
The map seems to be like there it’s almost like you’re watching a Dungeons and Dragons game happening in the distance or something
(1h 3m 26s)
So it says why risk your neck when adventurers are already already looking for glory send heroes across Faerûn
(1h 3m 34s)
To recover rare ingredients magical curiosities and treasures from their quests just like any great adventure
(1h 3m 40s)
Their journey is shaped by a roll of the dice with luck skill and fate deciding what they bring
(1h 3m 44s)
So it’s like you send off people to…
(1h 3m 47s)
…do an adventure and get you stuff, but you’re not doing it yourself and so you see this map and there’s…
(1h 3m 54s)
…dice rolling around and…
(1h 3m 57s)
…yeah, this is the thing that makes me think, “Mmm, I feel like this might be trying to do too much.”
(1h 4m 4s) Codey:
There’s a lot in it, for sure, though I will say, in D&D games, but also in Skyrim or whatever,
(1h 4m 11s)
you go to the taverns or the inns or whatever to be like, “Hey, have you heard of any quests?
(1h 4m 17s)
Have you heard of anyone needing a dragon killed or something?”
(1h 4m 22s)
That is the hub of where people post their quests and talk about what they want.
(1h 4m 28s)
So I can get that and maybe someone’s like, “Oh, I need an ogre killed over…”
(1h 4m 34s)
and you’re like, “Oh man, they have the best sugar over there and I really want that.”
(1h 4m 39s)
And so someone will come in and be like, “Oh, is there anything, any killing needing done?”
(1h 4m 45s)
and you’re like, “Yeah, you should go over here and also bring me back this sugar.”
(1h 4m 45s) Al:
Yeah, I think, if it was something like that, sure, but I feel like this is going to be
(1h 4m 53s)
more involved than I want. It’s going to, I think it’s going to feel a bit like, what
(1h 4m 55s) Codey:
Yeah, that’s valid.
(1h 5m) Al:
was it called? Oh, what was the one me and Chelsea did? No, me and, was it Chelsea? I
(1h 5m 6s)
lose track. I have too many questions.
(1h 5m 8s) Codey:
we just keep cropping up like flies what was the game okay
(1h 5m 14s) Al:
I can’t remember the name of the game, Bistro.
(1h 5m 16s)
It was me and Chelsea, yeah, Bistro.
(1h 5m 18s)
I feel like it’s gonna be like that
(1h 5m 19s)
where it’s just like frustrating
(1h 5m 21s)
because you have to like go out on these adventures
(1h 5m 23s)
and do a bunch of stuff and it’s like,
(1h 5m 24s)
I don’t really care about this bit.
(1h 5m 25s)
I wanna go and run.
(1h 5m 27s)
Like this is, I think, one of my problems
(1h 5m 29s)
is a lot of these games try and do too much,
(1h 5m 31s)
too many different things.
(1h 5m 32s)
And I think it all comes down to the fact
(1h 5m 34s)
that Stardew did a lot of things, but it did them all well.
(1h 5m 37s)
And the problem is that every game went,
(1h 5m 39s)
oh, we’re gonna do that many things.
(1h 5m 40s)
And it’s like, yeah, but you’re not doing them all well.
(1h 5m 42s) Codey:
[laughs]
(1h 5m 44s) Al:
And it’s like, yeah, yeah, exactly.
(1h 5m 44s) Codey:
Pick a, take, stay in your lane.
(1h 5m 46s)
[laughs]
(1h 5m 46s) Al:
And just choose a thing and do it well
(1h 5m 48s)
rather than doing 10 things badly.
(1h 5m 50s)
Like, are we running a tavern
(1h 5m 52s)
or are we doing adventures here?
(1h 5m 54s)
Like, which are we doing?
(1h 5m 57s) Codey:
I wonder if it’s not something that’s required, though, if it’s just kind of a side gig.
(1h 6m 1s) Al:
Yeah.
(1h 6m 1s) Codey:
So it’s not really necessary for you to do.
(1h 6m 4s) Al:
It did say rare ingredients.
(1h 6m 6s)
Maybe you’re right, yeah.
(1h 6m 6s) Codey:
Yeah, maybe someone comes in and tries something that you make, and they’re like, “Oh man,
(1h 6m 8s) Al:
I’ll give it that.
(1h 6m 8s)
If that’s what it is, then sure, I’ll give it it.
(1h 6m 17s) Codey:
this would go so good with this stuff from the two towns over.”
(1h 6m 21s)
And then the next time you’re sending someone that direction, it’s like, “Hey, could you
(1h 6m 24s)
also like when you come back da-da-da-da.
(1h 6m 28s) Al:
We’ll have to have a look. We will keep an eye on it. This one’s coming out in 2027.
(1h 6m 34s)
Next up. Anemula… Anemula Nook? Anemula. Anemula.
Animula Nook
(1h 6m 37s) Codey:
[laughs]
(1h 6m 39s)
Who knows?
(1h 6m 41s)
I- I say- I- I see…
(1h 6m 44s)
I see anim- animula…
(1h 6m 46s)
animula…
(1h 6m 48s)
animula…
(1h 6m 48s) Al:
Anemula. Shrink down and reimagine your desk as a whimsical world in Anemula Nook.
(1h 6m 57s) Codey:
Missed game
(1h 6m 58s) Al:
Anemula. Anemula Nook. Oh my word! Anemula Nook. Anemula Nook. A cozy miniature life sim.
(1h 7m 7s) Codey:
Yay.
(1h 7m 10s) Al:
Craft your homes from odds and ends, grow giant crops, style your outfit of the day,
(1h 7m 17s)
and explore the enchanting Wuppa Woods. Just remember, minis are always by your side.
(1h 7m 24s)
See if I have to choose my outfit every single day. I’m gonna hate this game.
(1h 7m 28s) Codey:
Yeah. So, I think this is the one that I was like, “Does this count?” kind of.
(1h 7m 28s) Al:
Just, just saying that.
(1h 7m 33s) Codey:
Like, but, like, I did not get enough of an answer, or, like, my questions were not answered enough in the trailers.
(1h 7m 33s) Al:
It’s a life sim!
(1h 7m 42s)
Growing crops, how does this not count as a farming game?
(1h 7m 46s) Codey:
It just doesn’t look right. Also, uh, if you watch the, like, first, uh, trailer that’s posted,
(1h 7m 52s)
because there’s, like, the first video that autoplays is, like, a developer playing, like, acting.
(1h 7m 58s) Al:
For eight minutes long.
(1h 7m 58s) Codey:
He’s, like, actively playing the game, like, starting the game. Yeah, for eight minutes.
(1h 8m 2s)
But if you go to the second one, pretty early into that, like, you meet this, like, bunny character
(1h 8m 8s)
that’s, like, helping get you set up, or whatever. And I am just waiting. I’m gonna, right here and
(1h 8m 13s)
now, I’m gonna take bets on how long before that game, or some part of that, gets the ban hammer
(1h 8m 19s)
from Animal Crossing. Because it is pretty explicit, uh, like, copying in my mind. Um.
(1h 8m 26s) Al:
So I think I think I think most of what is similar is not something you can realistically copyright
(1h 8m 31s)
What I will say though is I think the name
(1h 8m 35s)
The name feels a little bit stretching it, right like nuke in the name and anim
(1h 8m 42s)
And it’s basically animal crossing cross Tom Nook, right? Like
(1h 8m 44s) Codey:
They’re basically going to say, “Oh, but it’s not the word ‘animal’.”
(1h 8m 50s) Al:
Yeah, yeah
(1h 8m 52s)
It feels a little bit the name, but yeah, I mean most of the game is just
(1h 8m 56s)
you can’t really stop that sort of stuff. That’s just how games go, but yeah,
(1h 9m 3s)
the name feels a little bit like you’re stretching your luck a little bit there.
(1h 9m 8s) Codey:
But yeah.
(1h 9m 9s)
Yeah, I don’t know.
(1h 9m 10s)
I watched like two minutes of the first video that autoplays before I realized that it was
(1h 9m 15s)
eight minutes long.
(1h 9m 16s) Al:
[laughs]
(1h 9m 16s) Codey:
And then I switched to the other one for like 40 seconds.
(1h 9m 19s)
And in that almost three minutes of my time it didn’t, it didn’t, no, it didn’t speak
(1h 9m 23s) Al:
It’s not even showing gameplay.
(1h 9m 27s) Codey:
to me.
(1h 9m 28s)
Like I don’t know what’s going on here.
(1h 9m 30s)
I didn’t see the things that it says in the blurb that you just said in that.
(1h 9m 36s)
I’m not. They lost me.
(1h 9m 36s) Al:
I think I think I think you gotta you gotta scroll down and see the little
(1h 9m 38s) Codey:
But yeah, I’m not going to do that.
(1h 9m 41s) Al:
Clips in the description that shows you the farming and it shows you the other stuff
(1h 9m 46s)
So like it definitely has farming and it’s a life sim. It definitely counts
(1h 9m 51s) Codey:
I will rescind my criticism of it not counting, but I will retain all other criticism.
(1h 9m 59s) Al:
Grow giant crops. I mean, yeah criticize the game all you want. Just don’t criticize me
(1h 10m 5s) Codey:
I don’t know, no, you’re fine.
(1h 10m 6s)
I don’t know if it’s growing giant crops
(1h 10m 7s) Al:
You
(1h 10m 8s) Codey:
if you are miniature.
(1h 10m 9s) Al:
Well giant giant is just no but giant is just a relative term, right?
(1h 10m 9s) Codey:
You’re growing regular size crops.
(1h 10m 14s) Al:
It’s like we have uh, I don’t know whether you have them or not
(1h 10m 18s)
We have a chocolate cause Cadbury’s buttons, right?
(1h 10m 21s) Codey:
Yeah.
(1h 10m 21s) Al:
And they’re little they’re little chocolate buttons and then we have Cadbury’s giant buttons now. I would say they’re not giant
(1h 10m 23s) Codey:
Yeah.
(1h 10m 28s) Al:
I think they’re just slightly bigger than normal
(1h 10m 30s)
But you can only really call them giant if you’re relating them to the normal ones
(1h 10m 34s)
Right? Like, there are…
(1h 10m 36s)
They’re still, like, the size of, like, what? A 10p coin, right?
(1h 10m 40s)
Like, they’re not… they’re not huge.
(1h 10m 42s)
But they’re giant compared to normal buttons.
(1h 10m 46s) Codey:
Well, in Cad- yeah.
(1h 10m 46s) Al:
Right? So these are giant compared to the people that are there.
(1h 10m 50s) Codey:
Yeah.
(1h 10m 50s) Al:
They’re the size of the people, if not bigger!
(1h 10m 52s)
Look at the size of the blueberry!
(1h 10m 53s)
It’s the size of her head!
(1h 10m 55s) Codey:
But also the- the name Cadbury, not really giant, but definitely bigger than the other one, is not- it just doesn’t roll off the tongue.
(1h 11m 2s) Al:
Sure. Exactly. So what would you say, craft normal sized crops but actually you’re small
(1h 11m 6s)
so they seem really big? C’mon.
(1h 11m 8s) Codey:
Yeah, I would actually.
(1h 11m 10s)
No, this is- I need to- I’ll lock it back. I just-
(1h 11m 14s) Al:
There’s so many things to criticise!
(1h 11m 14s) Codey:
This game…
(1h 11m 16s)
This game rubbed me the wrong way and I needed to overcome that before looking at it again.
(1h 11m 22s) Al:
It’s fine, you probably have plenty of time, because they haven’t even given any indication as to when the release date is.
(1h 11m 26s) Codey:
Yeah, well they gotta they gotta go through litigation with the Animal Crossing first.
(1h 11m 30s) Al:
[laughs]
Spirit Rancher
(1h 11m 33s) Al:
Next up, we have Spirit Rancher.
(1h 11m 36s)
Bet you can’t guess what this game is about.
(1h 11m 39s)
“In this creature-collecting farming sim, your crops are alive!”
(1h 11m 43s) Codey:
[owl hoots]
(1h 11m 43s) Al:
“Catch spirits, battle alongside them, use your powers to gather resources and interact with the world”
(1h 11m 49s)
and build a farm that would keep them happy and productive.
(1h 11m 52s)
A place they’ll call home.
(1h 11m 54s) Codey:
I think the whole point of farming is that you don’t have to do you don’t have to harm
(1h 12m 3s)
another like animal and then suddenly all of your like it’s a it’s a creature collecting
(1h 12m 4s) Al:
[laughter]
(1h 12m 11s) Codey:
hunting I don’t know like what’s the equivalent harvesting
(1h 12m 14s) Al:
It’s like a yeah it’s like a a non-vegan like one of those like carnivore type people was like oh
(1h 12m 22s)
what if I had to be vegan oh i’d just eat these crops that are actually animals
(1h 12m 28s) Codey:
Yeah, yeah, but you but you but you don’t eat that like you just collect them that’s
(1h 12m 28s) Al:
it’s like a technicality it’s like
(1h 12m 31s)
it’s it’s a plant i’m eating a plant it’s talking to you
(1h 12m 42s) Codey:
true no no you got a point we do that in real life I get I guess so I don’t we can’t judge
(1h 12m 47s)
too much but if you’re like me that’s a choice my guy
(1h 12m 48s) Al:
Oh, we can. I judge all people that do things like me.
(1h 12m 58s) Codey:
Yeah, I don’t know. It sure is a game.
(1h 13m 4s) Al:
I… nothing about this is calling out to me.
(1h 13m 8s)
Like nothing looks terrible, but everything just seems a little bit meh.
(1h 13m 13s)
The graphics, the animations, the description, the name.
(1h 13m 17s) Codey:
yeah yeah
(1h 13m 19s) Al:
Why are they spi- why spirit?
(1h 13m 20s)
Why are they- why are they spirits?
(1h 13m 22s)
You’re growing them.
(1h 13m 23s)
Oh my goodness, I didn’t even notice that, of course, it’s just slight magic.
(1h 13m 23s) Codey:
well because there’s another slime was already taken
(1h 13m 30s) Al:
I just, I don’t know why, like, it’s, it’s…
(1h 13m 34s)
They’re not, they’re clearly not spirits, you’re growing them.
(1h 13m 37s)
You can’t grow spirits like plants, like, what are you talking about?
(1h 13m 41s) Codey:
I mean, that’s, that’s what the people, that’s what the spirit farmers, we are technically
(1h 13m 46s)
just growing for the spirit farmers to farm us.
(1h 13m 50s) Al:
Alright, next up, Halcyon Days at Taoyuan. Welcome to Taoyuan Village to heal your loneliness.
Halcyon Days At Taoyuan
(1h 13m 59s) Codey:
Taowen. Taowen. Yep, pretty much.
(1h 14m 7s) Al:
Here you can lead a carefree, self-sufficient life. Farm, tame animals, raise livestock,
(1h 14m 13s)
fish and build a prosperous homestead. Or immerse in village life.
(1h 14m 21s)
Meet kindred spirits, find love and influence their destinies with your choices.
(1h 14m 24s) Codey:
[awkward silence]
(1h 14m 29s)
awkward silence laughs
(1h 14m 31s)
[awkward silence]
(1h 14m 40s)
I mean, technically you do, we do each influence each other’s destinies with our choices but
(1h 14m 50s)
that is such a weird way to say that and it makes me uncomfy.
(1h 14m 56s)
So it says that you can lead a carefree life.
(1h 14m 59s)
There are nine major occupations and I loved this actually, I was very happy about this.
(1h 15m 5s)
Farming, forestry, animal husbandry, fishing, tailoring, cooking, construction…
(1h 15m 11s)
mining or martial arts.
(1h 15m 12s) Al:
Why why can I marry the animals?
(1h 15m 13s) Codey:
So I’m really interested in…
(1h 15m 15s)
What?
(1h 15m 16s) Al:
He said animal husbandry
(1h 15m 17s) Codey:
Oh.
(1h 15m 19s)
Oh.
(1h 15m 20s) Al:
Hey
(1h 15m 21s) Codey:
Animal wifery.
(1h 15m 22s) Al:
Husband
(1h 15m 23s) Codey:
I’m trying to think of…
(1h 15m 25s)
Animal spousery.
(1h 15m 27s)
Um.
(1h 15m 28s) Al:
My gender neutral version
(1h 15m 29s) Codey:
Yeah.
(1h 15m 31s)
Uh.
(1h 15m 33s)
Yeah.
(1h 15m 35s)
I like this.
(1h 15m 37s)
The depth of all of the different…
(1h 15m 39s)
of all of the different
(1h 15m 40s)
options. Like the fact that forestry on its own is an option. I like that as someone who works
(1h 15m 44s)
in forests. But yeah, we’ll see. Well, so I thought of them. So because this is occupations,
(1h 15m 47s) Al:
Yeah, I wonder how much do you have to do all
(1h 15m 56s) Codey:
my brain thought of it as like, these are things like you pick one is how I felt.
(1h 16m 2s) Al:
Yeah, however it does say which one do you want to excel in, not which one do you want
(1h 16m 7s)
to do, right? So the implication to that for me, what I assumed, is that you’re doing a
(1h 16m 14s)
little bit of everything, but there’s one that you like really get good at. In real
(1h 16m 17s) Codey:
Well, if you had to pick one of these to be really good at, which one would you choose?
(1h 16m 20s)
Construction? Construction.
(1h 16m 20s) Al:
life or in the game? Oh, martial arts, obviously.
(1h 16m 22s) Codey:
I don’t know. We’ll see. We have to see more of the game, but also real life. I’m curious.
(1h 16m 28s)
I would pick Forestry.
(1h 16m 32s) Al:
This is assuming I don’t need to put in any effort, right? Oh, well, then it doesn’t matter, I can just do that. That’s just real life. You’re just describing real life. What if you could be really good at something by putting in the time and effort into getting good at it? None of them, then. Programming, that’s what I did. I don’t care if I have to put in the effort. There’s no point in this thought experiment. You’re just describing life.
(1h 16m 41s) Codey:
[laughing]
(1h 16m 46s)
Yeah.
(1h 16m 49s)
There’s no programming in here. You have to pick something else.
(1h 16m 52s)
[laughing]
(1h 16m 57s)
[laughing]
(1h 16m 58s)
What if these were your options?
(1h 17m) Al:
What if- what if life-
(1h 17m 2s)
But there was fewer stuff you could do?
(1h 17m 3s) Codey:
Yeah, well, what if life only had nine options?
(1h 17m 7s) Al:
I would kill myself.
(1h 17m 8s) Codey:
No!
(1h 17m 11s) Al:
[groans]
(1h 17m 12s) Codey:
You get to befriend wild creatures.
(1h 17m 15s)
[laughing]
(1h 17m 16s)
You can either train them as assistants or keep them as companions.
(1h 17m 19s)
Por que no los dos?
(1h 17m 21s)
Why can’t they be your companion that also, like a service…
(1h 17m 25s) Al:
Don’t mix work and pleasure, Codey!
(1h 17m 28s) Codey:
No!
(1h 17m 30s)
Okay, that’s it. That’s my tweet.
(1h 17m 31s) Al:
And finally, the game that Codey pointed out that I had missed.
Gaucho Origins
(1h 17m 35s) Al:
Gaucho Origins. So, this is a spin-off of Gaucho on the Grassland.
(1h 17m 43s) Codey:
Well, it says origins so it’s probably a prequel
(1h 17m 44s) Al:
A mobile version? A mobile game? A prequel, yes. Experience a cozy adventure inspired by
(1h 17m 51s)
Brazilian gaucho culture filled with
(1h 17m 55s)
exploration fantasy and tradition across the Pampas… Pampas… is… was… was…
(1h 17m 59s) Codey:
Pampas.
(1h 18m 3s)
I think, I think that’s like a mountain.
(1h 18m 3s) Al:
Was is das?
(1h 18m 5s) Codey:
I look it up before I say something stupid.
(1h 18m 10s) Al:
Fertile low… oh, the grasslands! Grasslands!
(1h 18m 10s) Codey:
The extensive plains of South America.
(1h 18m 13s)
Yeah, okay.
(1h 18m 14s)
I was gonna say like a mountain range,
(1h 18m 18s)
which is not accurate, but kind of catches the same vibe.
(1h 18m 21s)
So I’m gonna give it to myself.
(1h 18m 22s)
I did it.
(1h 18m 23s)
Congratulations, me.
(1h 18m 24s) Al:
In a world where ancient legends still echo across the land, a hero prepares for the birth
(1h 18m 28s) Codey:
Yeah, I need to learn more about it.
(1h 18m 29s)
South America.
(1h 18m 36s) Al:
of his child. When dark forces threaten the peace of the region, he must embrace his role
(1h 18m 41s)
as a guardian and protect his family and everything he loves. Explore landscapes inspired by southern
(1h 18m 47s)
Brazil, face fantastic creatures, uncover hidden secrets and follow a story about you.
(1h 18m 54s) Codey:
Wow, this sounds really cute. I wish I could play it, but it’s only on Android
(1h 19m 1s)
Yeah, it is
(1h 19m 4s)
That’s like why
(1h 19m 6s) Al:
Anyway, uh, that’s one for Kevin
(1h 19m 10s) Codey:
Yeah
(1h 19m 13s) Al:
Yeah, I’m googling I can’t see anything
(1h 19m 17s) Codey:
for Android. Yeah, I don’t see anything.
(1h 19m 20s)
Wah-wah. Okay, that’s fine. Kevin, tell us about it.
(1h 19m 25s)
I don’t know if he’s Android or Matt or Apple.
(1h 19m 26s) Al:
I think he’s I think I think he think he’s Android
(1h 19m 29s) Codey:
Maybe this is something I need to boot up one of my old Samsung phones for.
(1h 19m 33s)
Though I feel like, can you, you probably need like an active
(1h 19m 37s)
cell account for that. Like I couldn’t, I could just boot it up and join the
(1h 19m 43s)
the Wi-Fi and then I’m not gonna do that.
(1h 19m 44s) Al:
- Yeah, yeah.
(1h 19m 47s) Codey:
Let’s be honest.
(1h 19m 48s) Al:
[laughing]
(1h 19m 49s) Codey:
[laughs]
(1h 19m 49s) Al:
- Ah, but what if you did?
(1h 19m 51s) Codey:
Nope.
(1h 19m 53s)
Nope.
Outro
(1h 19m 54s) Al:
- All right, that’s an episode.
(1h 19m 55s) Codey:
We did an episode, you guys.
(1h 19m 58s) Al:
- A nice short episode.
(1h 20m 1s) Codey:
Is it? Was it actually?
(1h 20m 2s) Al:
- No, of course it wasn’t.
(1h 20m 3s) Codey:
I’m sorry.
(1h 20m 5s)
I’m sorry, it’s me.
(1h 20m 6s) Al:
- It’s not your fault, it’s not your fault.
(1h 20m 7s) Codey:
I’m- I’m the problem.
(1h 20m 11s) Al:
- Thank you, Codey, for joining me.
(1h 20m 12s)
Is there anything you would like to share with the audience?
(1h 20m 15s) Codey:
You should learn about your local cockroach species so that if you have one in your home
(1h 20m 22s)
and your landlord tries to tell you that you don’t know what you’re talking about.
(1h 20m 27s)
She didn’t say that.
(1h 20m 28s)
A lot of this is me projecting.
(1h 20m 31s)
Then you can be confident in your own ability to identify cockroaches and know that you
(1h 20m 37s)
are right, even though it doesn’t really matter.
(1h 20m 40s) Al:
Cockroaches are apparently very uncommon.
(1h 20m 40s) Codey:
Oh, interesting.
(1h 20m 43s)
Well, luck-
(1h 20m 45s)
So the- I will- the end of the story, I guess, is that no matter what cockroach species,
(1h 20m 50s)
like she said it’s a P.A. woodroach, but it’s actually a tawny roach, doesn’t matter. They
(1h 20m 54s)
aren’t invasive, or they aren’t pests. They don’t- they’ll- they might show up in homes,
(1h 20m 59s)
like, incidentally, but they’re not, like, a pest. So it doesn’t really matter.
(1h 20m 59s) Al:
This is what I find so funny is like she’s still arguing with you despite the fact that
(1h 21m 5s)
it now doesn’t matter.
(1h 21m 7s) Codey:
Yeah. And so I just, like, hit a point where I was like, “Okay.” I was like, you know,
(1h 21m 12s)
you know, just a heads up that I saw this and, and, but, but…
(1h 21m 15s)
you know, it doesn’t seem like it matters.
(1h 21m 16s)
And she’s like, well, I’m going to talk to my exterminator.
(1h 21m 18s)
And not, and then she, yeah, basically just echoed what I said,
(1h 21m 21s)
except for said the wrong species and insinuated that I brought it.
(1h 21m 25s) Al:
You can find the podcast on Tumblr and on Blue Sky at THSPod.

(1h 22m 30s) Codey:
Okay.
(1h 22m 31s)
I will also post the cockroach.
(1h 22m 33s) Al:
I wanna see the cockroach.
(1h 22m 33s) Codey:
I didn’t post it – I didn’t post it in the other thing – like, in anywhere online except
(1h 22m 38s)
for with my entomology folks because I didn’t want people to get jump scared.
(1h 22m 43s)
