Intro

(30s) Al:

Hello, farmers, and welcome to another episode of the harvest season.

(34s)

My name is Al.

(36s) Kevin:

My name is Kevin.

(36s) Al:

And we’re here today to talk about cod score games.

(40s)

Woo, hopefully less sad than last week.

(41s) Kevin:

Woo!

(45s)

I was about to say, the key is to, well, look, I have to follow up last week’s episode.

(51s)

They, you know, I’m, I’m, it’s an uphill battle, to say the least.

(55s) Al:

Not everyone wants a sad episode, so we’ll do a happy episode.

(1m) Kevin:

Well, we can’t promise that either.

(1m 2s) Al:

I don’t know.

(1m 4s)

We don’t have to talk about the layoffs in the games industry because, you know, everyone else is doing that.

(1m 8s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1m 8s)

Yeah.

(1m 10s) Al:

We don’t need to talk about that.

(1m 11s) Kevin:

Yeah, don’t don’t worry about it.

(1m 14s)

What’s nice is cottage core, because it’s so indie.

(1m 15s) Al:

We…

(1m 18s) Kevin:

There’s not layoffs.

(1m 19s)

I mean, you know, they might crash and burn, but that’s that’s them.

(1m 20s) Al:

Yeah, that’s that’s a very good point.

(1m 21s)

There’s there’s not a huge number of of large of Kochiko games being made by large publishers.

(1m 28s)

So yeah, that is a good point.

(1m 31s) Kevin:

Concerned a pronouncing mass layoffs.

(1m 35s) Al:

Dude could probably pay for his current development team for the rest of his life and still have plenty money.

(1m 40s) Kevin:

He probably could.

(1m 42s)

Yeah, yeah.

(1m 44s) Al:

There’s a reason he’s not selling anything just now.

(1m 48s) Kevin:

Yeah, no, he’s, he’s fine. That, onto chocolatier can take as long as it wants and he’s not, he doesn’t care.

(1m 52s) Al:

You know?

(1m 52s)

But I think it’s, I think this is the thing, right?

(1m 56s)

Like, I think he’s proof.

(1m 58s)

If you have a popular game and you don’t care about profit, you can just keep making game, right?

(2m 5s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(2m 5s) Al:

Like, this is the thing is that I think the problem with all the hero was saying, we’re not going to talk about the layoffs.

(2m 10s)

I think the thing is, right, if you look at what Xbox said was, oh, we have a very small profitability margin.

(2m 17s)

It’s 3%.

(2m 18s)

They’re making 3% profit.

(2m 19s)

They’re not making a loss.

(2m 22s)

They’re making a profit and they’re still laying off people and it’s like, oh, it’s only 3% profit.

(2m 23s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(2m 23s)

Yeah, no.

(2m 27s) Al:

So what you’re saying is you can pay for all of the people who you’re employing and making games and the games that they’re making, they sell to make more than their make their costing to cover, but it’s not making enough profit.

(2m 29s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(2m 42s) Al:

This is what drives me insane about our society.

(2m 43s) Kevin:

That’s. It’s.

(2m 45s) Al:

It’s like, you don’t just have to cover your cost.

(2m 47s)

You have to make more money.

(2m 50s) Kevin:

Yes, and and it has me more money than last year and so on and so forth.

(2m 53s) Al:

Yes.

(2m 54s)

Ah.

(2m 55s) Kevin:

It’s yeah, no, you’re absolutely right.

(2m 57s)

That’s that’s the killer part that makes me sick to my stomach.

(3m)

Absolutely.

(3m)

Um, Because yeah, like Xbox is probably.

(3m 2s) Al:

And the problem is that like, People people will be like, oh, well, all these people being laid off, they’ll just go start making indie games, but the problem is you need money to do that.

(3m 3s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(3m 9s)

Yeah, that’s hard.

(3m 9s) Al:

I

(3m 10s) Kevin:

That’s very hard, actually.

(3m 13s)

Um.

(3m 14s) Al:

Like, yeah, sure, someone like concerned Abe can do it because he’s did the thing.

(3m 17s) Kevin:

Yep. Yes.

(3m 18s) Al:

He made the game.

(3m 20s)

He made the money.

(3m 21s)

Now he has the money to make the another game.

(3m 24s)

The problem is that that starting off thing is really hard.

(3m 24s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(3m 26s) Al:

And most people in the games industry are not rich.

(3m 27s) Kevin:

It’s.

(3m 30s)

Even if you did manage to actually make an indie game and it comes out and everything goes well, to hit that point of success where you can keep chugging along without worrying, that’s still really, really hard.

(3m 41s)

Like one% of one%.

(3m 42s) Al:

Yeah, who was, was it the, um, was it the, um, who are the people that make Mina the Hollower and, uh, yeah, so did they not say that if Mina the Hollower didn’t sell well, they were done?

(3m 48s) Kevin:

Yacht club.

(3m 53s) Al:

I think they were saying they were they were in financial trouble if they didn’t sell well.

(3m 54s) Kevin:

Uh, I.

(3m 57s) Al:

It did, so they’re fine.

(3m 58s) Kevin:

I didn’t hear that, but I, yeah, I didn’t, I didn’t hear that, but I believe it.

(4m) Al:

I think…

(4m 2s) Kevin:

I mean, they’ve spent a lot of money.

(4m 4s)

They’ve put out a lot of stuff.

(4m 6s)

Um, and but I don’t, you know, capturing the shovel night success.

(4m 10s)

Thats hard, so I wouldn’t be surprised.

(4m 11s) Al:

Yeah.

(4m 11s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(4m 12s)

Man, but going back to the whole thing, like not making enough profit.

(4m 16s)

One of the ones that really sticks out to me is Disney.

(4m 18s)

Um, in the, in the 2010s, Disney was doing this big, big video game push, that’s when we had Disney Infinity and a whole bunch of other stuff.

(4m 26s)

Um, and they were profitable, but same thing.

(4m 29s)

They, it just wasn’t profitable enough for them.

(4m 31s)

So they said, you know what, forget it.

(4m 33s)

kill it.

(4m 33s)

ending everything.

(4m 34s)

And that’s why we don’t have any more Disney games.

(4m 36s)

So, yay.

(4m 37s) Al:

Yeah, yeah, well exactly.

(4m 38s)

Yeah, so I double checked.

(4m 40s) Kevin:

Oh.

(4m 40s) Al:

So yeah, the co-founder of Yacht Club said that if they sold 100,000 copies, that is not good and it’s make or break for them.

(4m 49s)

He said, if we sold 200,000, that would be really good if we sold 500,000, that we would be golden. And in the 1st 3 days, they sold 300,000.

(4m 49s) Kevin:

Oh.

(4m 58s) Al:

So they were fine.

(4m 59s)

But I just, I think it just does show you, yeah, like even, even small teams can get into these problems, right?

(5m) Kevin:

So they’re good.

(5m 8s) Al:

Because, um, I mean, I don’t, I don’t have any information about, for example, the Holo Knight developers, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they had been in a similar situation where if Silk Song had not sold well.

(5m 8s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(5m 9s)

Hard.

(5m 18s) Al:

They would have been in trouble because it’s been so long since Hollow Night came out.

(5m 21s) Kevin:

Maybe.

(5m 23s) Al:

You know, you got to keep the money coming in.

(5m 26s) Kevin:

Yeah, but it’s also 2 people, so you know, three, I think, whatever.

(5m 30s)

So…

(5m 30s) Al:

Sure, sure, but like, I thi- yes, yes and yes and no.

(5m 32s) Kevin:

No, no, I get your point.

(5m 33s)

I get your point.

(5m 34s)

Like, I’m, I’m, Heckling.

(5m 36s) Al:

I think these things aren’t, I think if they were trying to live off the money they made from Holland Night, then probably yes, but the problem is there’s lots of expenses of running a company, right?

(5m 47s) Kevin:

Yep.

(5m 48s) Al:

Like the amount of money one needs to retire is very different from the amount of money one needs to run a company and make a game and sell it.

(5m 54s)

You know, like those are 22 different things.

(5m 55s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(5m 56s)

Yeah.

(5m 58s)

Yeah, that’s hard.

(5m 59s)

Making games.

(6m 1s) Al:

Anyway, fun times.

(6m 1s) Kevin:

It’s hard.

(6m 3s) Al:

That’s all we’re gonna talk about with the layoffs.

(6m 6s)

We’re going to go onto more stuff.

(6m 7s)

We are going to have a quick discussion this episode about DLCs and updates because there’s been a lot of talk about DLCs and updates recently, and I want to talk to Kevin about why we play some of them and we don’t play others because…

(6m 22s) Kevin:

Yeah, you know, this time for deep introspection.

(6m 25s) Al:

Because this is.

(6m 25s) Kevin:

Judgements we didn’t know we had.

(6m 28s) Al:

Yeah, so I’m not going to say, I was going to say because, but then I realised, no, that’s the topic.

(6m 33s)

So I’m going to leave that for the topic.

(6m 34s)

Before that, we have quite a bit of news.

(6m 35s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(6m 37s) Al:

We’re going to get through all that, some big news as well.

(6m 40s)

First up, Kevin.

(6m 40s) Kevin:

Yeah.

What Have We Been Up To

(6m 42s) Al:

What have you been up to?

(6m 44s) Kevin:

All right.

(6m 45s)

Oh, let’s see.

(6m 46s)

So when I had can and been able to read, you know, play a game, um, I keep, I’ve been chipping away at Ozma.

(6m 54s)

Um, wow, that game, that game is way bigger than I thought.

(6m 59s)

I get the 50 hour game game play time now.

(7m 2s)

I see it like it’s you really feel that games open up.

(7m 4s) Al:

What, you said that?

(7m 5s)

Were you sitting that timewise?

(7m 6s) Kevin:

I’m sorry?

(7m 7s)

Uh, that’s a good question.

(7m 9s)

I have to check.

(7m 9s)

I don’t know, but, um, and it’s really interesting because there’s, it’s very plot heavy, but much like cottage core games.

(7m 19s)

There’s no real pressure to to go to the plot.

(7m 22s)

Um, or you can kind of do whatever you want.

(7m 25s)

kind of like starter, right?

(7m 26s)

You want to spend time farming, going out fishing, whatever you want.

(7m 29s)

Um, it’s, it’s very interesting that there’s, there’s no time pressure. So of any kind, really.

(7m 34s)

There’s not even really seasons.

(7m 35s)

There is like a calendar, but it doesn’t matter other than like birthdays.

(7m 40s)

Um, But uh, but yeah, no, I’m enjoying it.

(7m 44s)

It’s it’s good.

(7m 44s)

It’s expanding opening up the characters learning about them.

(7m 48s)

It’s good stuff.

(7m 49s)

Um, so yeah, Hazuma continues to deliver.

(7m 50s) Al:

My pro. My problem with games is never them pressuring me to finish the game.

(7m 56s)

It’s my brain that’s pressuring me to finish the game.

(7m 58s) Kevin:

Oh, well, yeah, there you go.

(8m)

There you go.

(8m)

There’s that.

(8m 1s)

And then there’s that.

(8m 3s)

Yeah, no, no, I get that.

(8m 3s) Al:

It was like when, even with big games where I’m playing like Breath of the Wild, Dirties of the Kingdom or something like that, and I’m like, enjoying exploding things and going through stuff, and then suddenly I’m like, no, no, I need to finish this now.

(8m 16s)

This is this is it, is make or break now.

(8m 17s) Kevin:

Mm-hmm.

(8m 18s)

Mm-hmm.

(8m 19s) Al:

I finish this or I’m done.

(8m 21s) Kevin:

Yep, or sometimes the next big release is right there.

(8m 24s)

So like, okay, I got to finish this or I’m not going to be finishing this, right?

(8m 26s) Al:

Yep.

(8m 28s) Kevin:

Yeah, no, I get it.

(8m 29s)

I get it.

(8m 29s)

Um.

(8m 30s)

But yeah, no, I was my good stuff.

(8m 33s)

I, I really think the, the whole like, village does all the stuff for you too is really interesting because like you can, you farm without actually having to do the farming part.

(8m 43s)

Um, it’s wild.

(8m 45s)

Um, you know, I don’t know, good stuff.

(8m 47s)

Um, I’ve also been, uh, playing away at, uh, discounty, the, the actual reason we did that, said this update episode, like, because the, the big DLC update dropped, um, the profits or people or whatever.

(9m 1s)

So I’ve been hacking away at that.

(9m 3s)

Obviously, uh, or spoilers, like I’m going to do an episode going deep diving into that.

(9m 8s)

Um, but I will say this.

(9m 10s)

Um, the crazy thing about the discounted DLC, like because it’s, it’s chapter 4, you know, it’s appended at the end, like I go in and I have to suddenly remember all the stuff I have to do, like, uh, you know, because your LA game.

(9m 27s)

So you know, your store is big and you have all these systems and the times you have to get back into the cadence of that. And that takes a minute.

(9m 29s) Al:

Yeah.

(9m 33s)

Yeah, yeah.

(9m 34s)

Yeah, put a pin on that because I definitely have some thoughts on that.

(9m 38s)

So we’ll talk about that in the main episode.

(9m 38s) Kevin:

Oh, for sure.

(9m 39s)

Yeah.

(9m 40s) Al:

The main topic.

(9m 40s) Kevin:

Um, yeah, yeah, no, for sure.

(9m 43s)

Um, I think that’s roughly all that’s been going on my end.

(9m 46s)

What about you, Al?

(9m 47s)

What’s up?

(9m 48s) Al:

All right, well, speaking of things that we’re probably going to talk about in a future episode, I’ve been playing bistro.

(9m 54s)

So this is the game we talked about last episode that had been announced about.

(9m 58s)

It was a cooking game.

(10m 1s)

I can’t remember how it was described on Steam.

(10m 1s) Kevin:

Mm-hmm.

(10m 5s) Al:

Let me just double check.

(10m 7s) Kevin:

The furry version of that one piece game.

(10m 9s) Al:

A cosy culinary adventure with the fate of the world rests on what’s for dinner.

(10m 14s)

Farm and gather fresh ingredients tackle, cooking mini games, and create tasty recipes to fuel the caretakers for deck building battles as they seek to save the world.

(10m 22s)

So interestingly, I think I didn’t really pay attention to that as I was saying it.

(10m 26s)

There’s a lot in this game.

(10m 27s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(10m 28s) Al:

This game is so much bigger than I was expecting it to be.

(10m 32s)

So it’s going to be interesting to see how that continues.

(10m 36s)

I’m going to give myself a lot of time on it.

(10m 38s)

I’m not just going to decide either way.

(10m 42s)

Um, but yeah, it’s uh, it’s a lot like I was expecting like a bunch of a bunch of cooking mini games and then you’re like, you know, farming and gathering and then you do the more farming mini games and that’s kind of kind of it, but it’s a lot more than that a lot.

(10m 55s) Kevin:

Fishing and, you know.

(10m 57s)

Yeah.

(10m 58s)

Yeah, no, I can see.

(10m 59s) Al:

So, yeah.

(11m) Kevin:

You’re farming at a bathtubs.

(11m 2s) Al:

Yeah.

(11m 5s)

So yeah, I’ll, I’ll, I’ll, it’s interesting.

(11m 9s)

And I’ll probably leave it at that and we’ll we’ll have more to talk about that later.

(11m 13s) Kevin:

All right, I look forward to it.

(11m 14s)

Um, I will say I like the, uh, little character designs.

(11m 18s)

How one has like these, like, well, at least the protagonist has like big shoulder broad chest or so, but then like tiny, like, pencil legs that and then like a little point.

(11m 29s)

Um good stuff.

(11m 31s)

Yeah, I’m interested to hear about it.

(11m 33s)

Cool.

(11m 34s)

Well, do you like it so far?

(11m 36s) Al:

Yes?

(11m 36s) Kevin:

Good enough.

(11m 39s) Al:

It’s, it’s, it’s hard.

(11m 41s)

I don’t, I don’t feel the urge to like constantly be playing it like I do with some games.

(11m 47s)

And because there’s a lot of different things.

(11m 47s) Kevin:

Uh-huh.

(11m 50s) Al:

I think I’m feeling the same thing as you did when you went back to Des County, which is like constantly changing what I’m doing.

(11m 56s)

It’s hard to get my mind around like, 0 yeah, what is it?

(12m)

I doing this bit.

(12m)

Um, I don’t think I’m far enough in to make a conclusion about whether I’m enjoying it because I’m still learning new stuff.

(12m 6s) Kevin:

Hmm.

(12m 8s) Al:

So it’s it kind of feels like, you know, in a Pokemon game before your 1st gym battle, right?

(12m 9s) Kevin:

Okay, sure.

(12m 14s)

Mm.

(12m 14s) Al:

Like I don’t, I don’t really feel like I’m, I’m far enough that I can say that I’m enjoying it yet.

(12m 19s)

And that’s hard because like cottage score games don’t tend to have that.

(12m 20s) Kevin:

Okay.

(12m 24s) Al:

Once you’re through the tutorial.

(12m 25s)

It’s like you’re either enjoying yourself or you’re not, right?

(12m 28s)

But the tutorial just feels a lot longer because there’s so much more to it.

(12m 28s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(12m 32s) Al:

So I’m hoping I’m hoping I get over that hump and then I just get obsessed with it like I do other games.

(12m 33s) Kevin:

You know, there’s a lot of mechanics.

(12m 38s) Al:

We’ll see.

(12m 38s) Kevin:

Okay.

(12m 38s) Al:

All right.

Game News

(12m 39s) Al:

Let’s talk about some news.

(12m 41s)

Boop be-doo.

(12m 42s) Kevin:

It’s been happening.

(12m 44s) Al:

I just gave us a little jing.

(12m 45s) Kevin:

the regular one.

(12m 45s) Al:

I gave us a little news jingle there, apparently.

(12m 46s) Kevin:

Oh.

(12m 48s)

Sorry.

(12m 48s) Al:

First up, Farlands.

(12m 50s)

No, no, it was me that did it.

Farlands

(12m 52s) Al:

Farlands.

(12m 53s)

One.0 release coming out on the 16th of July.

(12m 57s)

It’s releasing on all major platforms.

(13m)

They don’t list what the major platforms are.

(13m 1s) Kevin:

Cool, it’s.

(13m 2s)

Well, I, um.

(13m 5s)

Well, yeah, you know, that’s that is a shame.

(13m 7s)

They probably should.

(13m 8s)

Is it play date?

(13m 9s)

Are they going to snub the play date?

(13m 11s)

Um…

(13m 19s)

Yeah, let’s see, they come out a new planet.

(13m 20s) Al:

So PS5, PS4, Switch, and then obviously Xbox and Windows as well.

(13m 24s) Kevin:

Uh-huh.

(13m 28s) Al:

Don’t see Matt.

(13m 30s) Kevin:

No, Apple Arcade.

(13m 34s) Al:

Uh, yeah, so that’s their, they’re coming at one.

(13m 36s)

0 on the so coming out of early access on the 16th of July.

(13m 40s) Kevin:

Cool.

(13m 41s)

Yeah, they, it looks like they finished the story and I’m just reading over the, the, the notes.

(13m 46s)

There’s a final planet.

(13m 47s)

There’s post game, achievements, improved controller support.

(13m 51s)

You probably want that if you’re coming to all the major platforms.

(13m 54s) Al:

Yeah.

(13m 54s) Kevin:

Oh, um, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

(13m 58s)

Um, Cool.

(14m)

Good for you.

(14m 1s)

They hit the, they’re hitting the finish line.

(14m 3s)

Uh, well, I picked this up.

(14m 4s)

I don’t know, but good for them.

Coral Island

(14m 7s) Al:

Carl Island have released their one.

(14m 10s)

3 Ocean and Kisses update.

(14m 12s) Kevin:

Oh, wait, I missed this news.

(14m 14s)

Hold it.

(14m 14s)

What is going on here?

(14m 16s)

It’d be exciting.

(14m 17s)

I did.

(14m 18s) Al:

So a little summary of their of how their updates have gone.

(14m 21s)

Their one.

(14m 22s) Kevin:

Okay.

(14m 23s) Al:

2 update came out last year and then they were going to do their one.

(14m 27s)

3 update, but the problem was they, there were a few features that weren’t ready, but they still wanted to get a release out.

(14m 32s)

So they released one.

(14m 33s)

2 B.

(14m 34s) Kevin:

Oh, that’s right.

(14m 34s) Al:

But then they decided that there was still a feature that they couldn’t get into one.

(14m 40s)

(14m 41s)

I think it’s the kids growing up feature.

(14m 42s) Kevin:

One point. One.

(14m 42s) Al:

So that is going to come out in one.

(14m 44s) Kevin:

2 B2.

(14m 46s) Al:

4 now, not one.

(14m 46s) Kevin:

Okay.

(14m 48s) Al:

3.3.

(14m 48s)

So, one.

(14m 50s)

3 now comes out with 2 new dateable MPCs, including Agang, who is one of the mirror four.

(15m) Kevin:

He’s the mermaid.

(15m 2s)

is the hot guy, mermaid.

(15m 3s) Al:

I mean, there’s lots of mermaids, but yes, he is a he is a hot guy mermaid.

(15m 3s) Kevin:

I mean, they’re all hot people.

(15m 5s)

Yeah.

(15m 7s) Al:

Uh, Rayna, who is one of the baddies in the game, if you will.

(15m 15s)

She, she, she…

(15m 16s) Kevin:

Both definitions.

(15m 20s) Al:

Nice.

(15m 20s)

Uh, yeah, she she runs the um, the company that’s trying to take over or she doesn’t run it.

(15m 27s)

She’s a worker for them.

(15m 29s)

She’s not, she doesn’t own it.

(15m 30s)

I think she’s an admin person, maybe.

(15m 33s)

I lose track.

(15m 34s)

It’s been a while since I played it.

(15m 35s)

But yeah, so interesting.

(15m 37s)

Um, that’s how that’s going.

(15m 41s)

I don’t think I ever got to the point where I closed down the company, so I don’t know what she does after that happened.

(15m 42s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(15m 47s)

Mm-hmm.

(15m 50s)

Yeah, it’s it’s what’s his face from Stardew?

(15m 55s)

guys, he works for JoJo.

(15m 56s) Al:

Yeah, but, well, it feels different because like, I think the thing is that Georgia Mart, there are people who work for Georgia Mart in the village, but that’s because they’re in, they live in the village and they need jobs, whereas I think Reina moves to the island to work for the company.

(16m 8s) Kevin:

A job, yeah.

(16m 11s)

Ah, okay.

(16m 12s)

Well, I mean, because.

(16m 15s)

Well, uh, well, um, relocation happens, but still, I mean, is she Morris, right?

(16m 18s) Al:

Yeah.

(16m 20s) Kevin:

Like that’s the question.

(16m 21s)

Can you date Morris?

(16m 22s)

That’s the real question.

(16m 23s) Al:

No, that so that’s that would be Karen.

(16m 25s)

She is, she’s the one who…

(16m 26s) Kevin:

Right.

(16m 26s)

Wait, literally okay.

(16m 29s)

That’s awesome

(16m 29s) Al:

She is she is not romantable.

(16m 32s) Kevin:

Shit.

(16m 34s)

Oh, well, Howard, come on, concerned that you can still do it.

(16m 39s)

Let me let me smooch up Morris.

(16m 40s) Al:

I enjoy this.

(16m 40s)

It says on the Coral Island fandom wiki.

(16m 44s)

It says relationships for Reina, player, acquaintances having met inside of the pufferfish office.

(16m 50s)

Karen, Rayna’s Bosch, relationship status unknown.

(16m 54s)

Just like the implication that there could be something there.

(16m 58s)

You don’t know.

(17m 1s) Kevin:

Or you just don’t want to comment it on it like you, you know, you do with your actual boss.

(17m 9s) Al:

So, yeah, um, I think, yeah, okay, maybe you’re right.

(17m 14s)

Maybe I’m thinking about this all wrong.

(17m 15s)

Maybe I’m just think of it.

(17m 16s)

Maybe we should just think of it as she’s just an employee of the company and why should that matter?

(17m 20s)

It just feel.

(17m 21s)

I don’t know why, but like when I’m playing the game, it feels different because she’s not the like main representative, but she does feel more like she cares about the company than does anyone who works at Georgia.

(17m 24s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(17m 24s)

Well.

(17m 31s)

Well, she would, she would because like you said, I mean, it does make a difference.

(17m 36s)

Like I said, maybe she moved there for her job, but that’s still like her primary like thing, right?

(17m 41s)

Like that’s her whole reason, though, the job.

(17m 43s)

So that’s why she’d care about it.

(17m 44s)

She doesn’t have a history with the town or particularly has to care about the townspeople or, you know, if she’s just meeting them.

(17m 48s) Al:

Yeah.

(17m 49s)

But that’s but that’s my point.

(17m 50s) Kevin:

So.

(17m 51s) Al:

That why it feels different.

(17m 53s) Kevin:

Yeah, no, yeah, that’s exactly why, yeah.

(17m 55s)

Um, I will, yeah.

(17m 56s) Al:

Yeah, I don’t know

(17m 58s) Kevin:

I will say the name Ocean and Kiss is update is kind of stupid because isn’t that the whole game?

(18m 3s)

Isn’t that the premise?

(18m 3s) Al:

Yeah, I talked about, I talked about this when they announced the, the, the name of it.

(18m 4s) Kevin:

The point for buying the game?

(18m 10s) Al:

I’m like, this is just like 2 things shoved together and they’re 2 completely generic things because it also adds a bunch of stuff for the Merfolk system, right?

(18m 14s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(18m 19s)

Yeah.

(18m 21s) Al:

It adds to some festivals and some other chapters of story with them.

(18m 26s)

It just like, okay.

(18m 27s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(18m 28s)

This is Stardew announcing a crops and mining update.

(18m 31s) Al:

Yeah.

(18m 35s)

So there’s a lot of stuff in this update.

(18m 37s)

I don’t think there’s anything like fundamental to it.

(18m 42s) Kevin:

Oh, wait, you can now kiss and hug other player characters.

(18m 45s)

That’s something.

(18m 45s) Al:

As I say, I don’t think there’s anything fundamental here.

(18m 49s) Kevin:

I I would argue.

(18m 50s) Al:

It does add in-game wedding anniversaries.

(18m 54s)

So that’s interesting.

(18m 56s) Kevin:

That’s cool, actually.

(18m 57s) Al:

Also, you could previously ask romanceables on hangouts, whereas now they can ask you.

(19m 4s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(19m 6s)

Oh, that’s so good.

(19m 7s) Al:

Out.

(19m 9s)

So I do kind of like that.

(19m 10s) Kevin:

Man.

(19m 11s) Al:

That’s quite cool.

(19m 12s) Kevin:

That should be a thing.

(19m 13s)

Absolutely.

(19m 14s) Al:

Oh, this is the other thing to talk about.

(19m 14s) Kevin:

I love that.

(19m 16s) Al:

There is now a jealousy system.

(19m 20s) Kevin:

Oh, hold it, hold it.

(19m 22s) Al:

So, Romanceable MPCs react when the player grows closer to other potential partners.

(19m 22s) Kevin:

Now they’re cooking.

(19m 23s)

Now they’re cooking.

(19m 30s)

Okay, hold it, Corolla, then maybe you can finally will be able, you’ve baited the hook properly this time.

(19m 35s) Al:

So there’s a few things to talk about here, and then there’s one really interesting thing at the end that I really like.

(19m 40s)

We’ll get there.

(19m 41s)

So a few things that work in this jealousy system.

(19m 42s) Kevin:

Okay.

(19m 44s) Al:

So, 1st of all, if you give both, so there’s 2 there’s 2 sisters, if you give them both a locket and you’ve seen both 10 heart cut scenes, give giving a gift to one of them triggers the jealousy from the other one.

(19m 58s) Kevin:

That’s good.

(19m 59s)

That’s good.

(20m 1s) Al:

After marriage, jealousy triggers if you invite or gift another romanceable NPC of the same gender as your spouse.

(20m 7s)

Not sure how I feel about that.

(20m 8s) Kevin:

Mm, mm, what?

(20m 10s) Al:

That feels a little homophobic.

(20m 10s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(20m 11s)

Well, yeah, okay, yes.

(20m 15s) Al:

Like, it’s all right if they’re the same gender as you, that’s that’s okay.

(20m 15s) Kevin:

Yeah, all right, yeah.

(20m 19s)

But.

(20m 21s)

Okay, well, well, no, but let’s say this, right?

(20m 21s) Al:

That’s not how cheating works.

(20m 25s) Kevin:

Like, from their perspective, like, you’re okay dating their gender, so they’re, you know, if there were something to be more jealous of, like that, that’s where the, the logical 1st step, right?

(20m 36s)

Like, maybe you haven’t had this discussion.

(20m 38s)

Maybe, you know, maybe they don’t fully know your, your preferences.

(20m 42s)

I’m just saying, like, at least, right?

(20m 45s)

Like if I’m dating someone and they start talking to another guy.

(20m 48s)

Okay, like I know they’re interested in guys, presumably, right?

(20m 51s)

So, like, okay, there.

(20m 52s) Al:

Yeah.

(20m 52s)

It just, yeah, I know, I know.

(20m 53s) Kevin:

There’s a logic.

(20m 55s)

But, yeah, but I see what you’re saying.

(20m 56s) Al:

I just feel like it’s, it’s one of those things that’s like, it’s, it’s pretty common, for example, for like men to be like, oh, I, you know, I don’t want you cheating on me, but if you want to, you know, have, you know, be with a woman, then that’s fine with me because they don’t really treat it as the same thing.

(21m 7s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(21m 12s)

Yeah, yeah, you’re right, you’re right.

(21m 12s) Al:

They don’t really treat lesbian relationships as equal.

(21m 17s)

And so it doesn’t really matter to them.

(21m 18s) Kevin:

You’re right, you’re super right about that.

(21m 19s) Al:

And also they, you know, they find it, you know, they’re attracted to it a bit and it all just feels a little bit. I just find it weird that it’s like the jealousy only triggers if you’re giving a gift to someone of the opposite or the same gender as them.

(21m 19s) Kevin:

Mm.

(21m 26s)

That’s a good point.

(21m 32s)

Yeah, you know what?

(21m 34s)

Yeah, you that’s an excellent point.

(21m 37s)

Yeah, I know you’re you’re right.

(21m 38s)

Good stuff.

(21m 43s)

Well, look, they’re trying.

(21m 44s)

Maybe they’ll fix.

(21m 45s)

they can patch that later.

(21m 47s) Al:

New jealousy cut scenes play at the tavern after you’ve watched 4 romanceable MPC’s 10 heart cut scenes.

(21m 52s) Kevin:

Whoa.

(21m 53s) Al:

So it’s the same as the thing in Stardew, where if you’ve if you’re dating them all, they come together.

(21m 53s) Kevin:

Whoa, that’s pretty cool.

(22m) Al:

So it’s the same sort of thing.

(22m 2s) Kevin:

I think that Stardew had that, oh, that…

(22m 6s) Al:

Includes a cold shoulder state where the NPC cannot be interacted with plus attention seeking behaviour from your spouse if you neglect kisses, gifts, or birthdays for too long.

(22m 15s) Kevin:

Oh.

(22m 16s)

Oh, they going in deep.

(22m 22s)

Oh, I applaud him for that.

(22m 24s) Al:

So a lot of toxic behaviour happening in here and we could talk about how maybe it’s better to like talk about these things rather than just ignoring your partner if you think they’re not treating you well.

(22m 28s) Kevin:

Yeah, yeah.

(22m 37s) Al:

Personally, I think that communication is good.

(22m 40s)

But here’s what I really…

(22m 42s) Kevin:

But that’s hard to programme.

(22m 43s) Al:

Here’s what I really like about this.

(22m 45s)

You can turn off the jealousy in the settings.

(22m 48s) Kevin:

Yeah, if it gets a little too real.

(22m 51s) Al:

I mean, I legitimately think this is great because like I understand why some people would like this because it like makes real makes things feel more real life.

(22m 59s)

Um, but also it could be triggering for some people and as you say, escapism and like we’ve talked about how sometimes marriage in these games feels endgame rather than like just part of the process, which, you know, anyone who’s married in real life and is actually a decent person will know that marriage is not the endgame.

(23m 1s) Kevin:

Escapism.

(23m 13s)

Yeah.

(23m 19s) Al:

It’s just a continuation of the process.

(23m 23s)

And if anything, things might get more hard then because there’s more you have to deal with and that’s that’s, you know, something.

(23m 23s) Kevin:

Mhm.

(23m 29s)

Yeah.

(23m 31s)

You’re not in postgame out?

(23m 32s)

I thought that’s what kids were.

(23m 33s)

I thought kids were the post game.

(23m 34s) Al:

But.

(23m 35s) Kevin:

Usually is.

(23m 37s) Al:

But yeah, I personally don’t think I would use have this in the game because it just feels like it’s going to add…

(23m 44s) Kevin:

Oh, yeah, no, you’re well, see, here we go.

(23m 48s)

This is the duality of man right here. Like, you’re you’re you’re turning it off and I’m over here rubbing my hands like, okay, you you caught my attention at the very least, like.

(23m 57s) Al:

But this is but this is why it’s good.

(23m 59s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(23m 59s) Al:

This is why the setting is good.

(24m 1s) Kevin:

Options are good.

(24m 1s) Al:

Like, I do more of this.

(24m 2s)

Absolutely.

(24m 4s)

Do more of this, mate.

(24m 5s)

if people want more realism in these games.

(24m 7s)

Absolutely. Give them it, just give me an option to turn it off.

(24m 11s)

am totally fine with that.

(24m 11s) Kevin:

Yeah, no.

(24m 12s) Al:

is the perfect way to go about it.

(24m 14s) Kevin:

It is. Also, that does seem like kind of work, so good for them that they want that trouble.

(24m 19s)

Um, I, and like in a more serious note, like, I do think doing this at all is really cool.

(24m 27s)

Obviously, it’s not going to be for everyone, like you said, but we haven’t really seen this, right?

(24m 32s)

Like, too much jealousy systems or whatever or going all in, calling it a system.

(24m 36s) Al:

Yeah.

(24m 37s)

Yeah, there’s definitely been some things, like there’s a little bit of it in Stardew, as we’ve discussed.

(24m 38s) Kevin:

Um,

(24m 41s)

Yeah.

(24m 42s)

Yeah.

(24m 44s) Al:

Um, I think if you, like, if you’re married and Stardew and you try and date someone else, then issues come there and stuff like that.

(24m 44s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(24m 52s)

Issues happen, yeah.

(24m 53s) Al:

But yeah, there’s not a lot.

(24m 58s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(24m 58s)

So that’s cool.

(24m 59s)

No, I applaud them for that.

(25m)

That is substantial.

(25m 2s)

Good for you, Coral Island, doing interesting things, actually.

(25m 5s)

Good for you.

(25m 6s) Al:

see if there’s anything else I was.

(25m 7s)

Oh yes, you can now save manually.

(25m 11s) Kevin:

Only only took 3 patches after one point.

(25m 16s)

Oh

(25m 18s) Al:

You can also have multiple different safe slots, so I think you can, like, save scum if you want.

(25m 24s) Kevin:

Oh, sick, reroll that jelly sea system.

(25m 27s) Al:

Look, I think it’s I think I think there’s no reason not to have this.

(25m 30s)

I do think a lot of games do it really badly where it’s like every time you go to save, you have to like manually select a save file and it’s like you can accidentally overwrite other ones and stuff like that.

(25m 31s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(25m 41s) Al:

I’m like, I just want the default to be, it just saves.

(25m 43s)

Right?

(25m 44s)

And I don’t have to think about anything.

(25m 45s) Kevin:

Sure.

(25m 46s) Al:

But if I want to do something more, then let me do something more.

(25m 49s)

But yeah.

(25m 50s) Kevin:

Yeah, okay.

(25m 50s) Al:

I haven’t actually looked at how this works.

(25m 51s) Kevin:

Wow, 8.

(25m 53s) Al:

I haven’t played the game recently, so I haven’t.

(25m 53s) Kevin:

Eight. Eight save slots and you can do it anywhere, anytime.

(25m 59s)

That’s good.

(26m)

You don’t have to go to your bed.

(26m 2s) Al:

Yeah, so it seems to be, so there’s 10, 10 saves, and each save can have 8 slots.

(26m 12s)

So it’s calling them 10 character slots, so you can have like 10 different things, different islands, I guess.

(26m 15s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(26m 18s) Al:

It says character slots because I guess you’ve got your character per game.

(26m 23s)

So like you can have 10 different villages and then within each of those villages.

(26m 28s)

You can have 8 different save files for each of those.

(26m 32s) Kevin:

Oh, that’s a lot of save options.

(26m 34s) Al:

It is, it is.

(26m 35s) Kevin:

Good for them.

(26m 37s)

No, that’s good.

(26m 39s) Al:

Manual save can be triggered anywhere, anytime into any slot up to 8 manual saves per character slot.

(26m 44s)

Auto save triggers when entering a building, the mines are going diving, before entering and leaving a festival, before a cut scene, and when teleporting.

(26m 45s) Kevin:

Cool.

(26m 51s) Al:

It has a 62nd cool down between saves and can be toggled in settings again.

(26m 56s)

Any save can be loaded from the escape menu under load game.

(27m)

And this is all only for single player stuff, multiplayers, more complicated.

(27m) Kevin:

That’s all.

(27m 5s)

Sure, makes sense.

(27m 6s)

I save scum your friends.

(27m 9s) Al:

Oh, one other nice thing.

(27m 12s)

See what happens when we start reading all the patch notes.

(27m 14s)

We start noticing lots of little things.

(27m 16s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(27m 16s) Al:

Let’s stop after this one.

(27m 18s)

In multiplayer, you can choose to sleep to regain stamina while your other friends keep playing.

(27m 25s)

Don’t the game doesn’t end unless everybody’s…

(27m 26s) Kevin:

That’s great.

(27m 31s)

You could learn a thing or 2 in Minecraft.

(27m 34s) Al:

So yeah, that’s that’s nice.

(27m 37s) Kevin:

Good for you.

(27m 37s) Al:

There’s a whole bunch of really good quality of life improvements and some new romancibles, which is always good, especially some that don’t look like children.

(27m 48s)

Just saying.

(27m 49s) Kevin:

That’s, yeah, you know what?

(27m 52s)

Yeah, we’re at a point. we are at a point where good for you.

(27m 57s) Al:

Should be the bare minimum.

Moonlight In Garland

(28m) Al:

Next up, Moonlight and Garland.

(28m) Kevin:

Yeah, but.

(28m 3s) Al:

They have released version 2.0 L.

(28m 6s)

I don’t know why. Moonlighting Garden insists on having a letter at the end of their version numbers.

(28m 11s)

Every single time.

(28m 12s)

And it’s a different letter each time.

(28m 12s) Kevin:

It’s a secret.

(28m 14s)

It’s a secret code once they hit, uh, 5.0.

(28m 19s) Al:

What?

(28m 19s) Kevin:

They’ll spell the secret message to open to find me under the truck.

(28m 21s) Al:

It’s like an.

(28m 24s)

Is it like a numbers, uh, station.

(28m 26s)

Do you know about number stations?

(28m 28s) Kevin:

Uh, tell me, I probably do, but then.

(28m 30s) Al:

So number stations are things that they think started in the Cold War, but there’s a lot of secrecy around them.

(28m 35s)

They’re basically radio frequencies where they will read out numbers or words that seem completely arbitrary, but will make sense to someone who has the right code.

(28m 36s) Kevin:

Mm-hmm.

(28m 36s)

Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.

(28m 39s)

Yeah, I just numbers.

(28m 45s)

Yeah.

(28m 45s)

Yeah.

(28m 46s) Al:

So it’s like that.

(28m 47s) Kevin:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

(28m 48s) Al:

They’re spelling something out in their version number updates.

(28m 48s) Kevin:

Yeah, that’s exactly what it is.

(28m 50s)

That’s exactly what it is.

(28m 53s)

Oh.

(28m 55s) Al:

Um, There, This, I don’t think, has anything particularly humungous.

(28m 55s) Kevin:

Uh.

(29m) Al:

One thing, seeing as how we’ve been talking about relationships is that if you break up a relationship, you are in a relationship limbo for a while before you can rebuild.

(29m 12s) Kevin:

Hmm.

(29m 13s)

That’s cool.

(29m 14s)

Oh my gosh, Skyright, it’s over.

(29m 15s) Al:

I think Stardew has that as well, where if you, if you, if you divorce, you can’t get back to that person, unless you get the witch to erase their,

(29m 17s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(29m 23s)

Yeah, you got to do some shenanigans for that, yeah.

(29m 26s) Al:

Which is, oh boy, that’s a very obsession of you.

(29m 29s) Kevin:

Yeah. Yeah, I was about to say, based on the current hit theatre obsession.

(29m 31s) Al:

Um

(29m 39s) Kevin:

Oh.

(29m 40s) Al:

Um, and another interesting thing is you can override the current weather.

(29m 45s)

I’m going to need more information on this.

(29m 46s) Kevin:

That’s.

(29m 47s)

That’s uh, somewhat terrifying, but okay.

(29m 53s) Al:

It does just sound like it’s just a setting.

(29m 55s)

You can just change the weather if you want, which brings up a whole bunch of questions because like I do like choice.

(29m 56s) Kevin:

Oh.

(29m 57s)

Sure.

(29m 59s)

Okay.

(30m 1s) Al:

That’s quite a quite a choice.

(30m 5s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(30m 6s)

You know what?

(30m 7s)

I, that’s probably the best way.

(30m 8s)

Just don’t worry about it.

(30m 10s)

There’s no in-game explanation words.

(30m 11s)

Just, just, it’s fine.

(30m 13s)

Don’t worry about it

(30m 14s)

Still not a big kind of the art style, but whatever.

(30m 17s)

It’s fine.

(30m 17s) Al:

Yeah, I think that’s the biggest thing that I just, I’m not a huge fan of how it looks.

(30m 17s) Kevin:

Okay, go ahead.

(30m 22s) Al:

And that’s why I’ve never, and maybe that’s unfair.

(30m 25s)

I don’t know.

(30m 27s) Kevin:

No, I mean, it’s a preference.

(30m 28s)

It’s a subjective preference.

(30m 29s)

We’re allowed to not live.

(30m 31s) Al:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, sure, sure, sure.

(30m 32s)

Next up, we have Dolek Town.

Doloc Town

(30m 35s) Al:

They have released their workshop update.

(30m 38s)

So this is Steam Workshop.

(30m 40s)

So for people who aren’t aware, that is official mod support.

(30m 43s)

Yeah, I don’t I don’t know if there’s much more to say about that.

(30m 44s) Kevin:

Well, finally, we’re gonna get the…

(30m 47s) Al:

I agree.

(30m 47s) Kevin:

Yeah, and finally, someone, someone is working on officially releasing the the Shrek Dulok Town support or mod.

(30m 48s) Al:

Cool.

(30m 57s) Kevin:

Now we can finally play.

(30m 59s) Al:

And they’re also running a contest for mods.

(31m 1s)

So if you have a fun mod, if you want to make a fun mod for Dolek Town, you can enter the competition, ends on the 13th of July.

(31m 8s) Kevin:

Do you mod?

(31m 10s)

That’s cool.

(31m 11s)

That is cool, actually, um, supporting it to that degree.

(31m 14s)

Do you mod much?

(31m 15s)

Are you a mod guy?

(31m 16s) Al:

I do not mod much now.

(31m 17s)

I think we ended up

(31m 19s)

I think me and Rochelle ended up having a conversation about this years ago on the pod.

(31m 23s)

I don’t mod much now.

(31m 25s)

I used to mod Minecraft all the time.

(31m 27s)

Like that was my when I was in university playing Minecraft at all hours.

(31m 28s) Kevin:

Sure.

(31m 32s) Al:

I would mod that to ridiculous degrees.

(31m 34s) Kevin:

Yeah, I mean, that’s the game.

(31m 36s)

That’s the game for it.

(31m 38s) Al:

And, you know, this way of no surprise, but most of my mods were about more automation of things.

(31m 43s) Kevin:

Yeah, I was.

(31m 43s) Al:

So I built these massive automatic systems. So like you would have like things that would, you had like an automatic crafter, and then it would automatically, and then something else that would take something out of the crafter, put it in a box, and then another thing would take it out of that box and put it in another crafter.

(31m 59s)

And so you’d just build up these ridiculous machines that would build things.

(32m 5s)

So, yeah, I enjoyed that.

(32m 6s) Kevin:

Yeah, okay.

(32m 7s)

Yeah, no, I’ve never modded it, but I’m always impressed by what they come out with, especially obviously Minecraft.

(32m 12s)

That’s like king of mine.

(32m 13s) Al:

Yeah.

(32m 13s)

Yeah, there’s a lot of stargy modes as well.

(32m 16s)

That’s a big one.

(32m 17s)

Obviously, the bigger a game is, the more mods there are.

(32m 17s) Kevin:

Yeah, that is.

(32m 18s)

Yeah.

(32m 20s)

All right, do a lock town to the turn do lock town into Stardew Mod.

(32m 23s)

Or no terraria.

(32m 25s)

It’s just going to be terrari.

(32m 26s)

That’s sick.

(32m 27s) Al:

Yeah, well, that’s the right that’s the right uh gameplay, I guess, to Raria.

(32m 31s) Kevin:

Yeah, it’s the correct P camera.

Pokopia

(32m 35s) Al:

Next up, we have Pocopia.

(32m 36s)

So obviously we talked about the DLC last week.

(32m 39s)

However, if Kevin has anything to say, he can say it now.

(32m 39s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(32m 40s)

So, uh.

(32m 44s)

Um, I mean, like, I, well, 1st of all, 1st of all, we got Gerachi.

(32m 48s)

That was just announced.

(32m 49s)

That was not out loud.

(32m 50s) Al:

Yeah, well, I was going to talk about that, but let’s let’s let’s get to that when we get to it.

(32m 52s) Kevin:

Okay.

(32m 53s)

All right.

(32m 54s) Al:

But 1st of all, any opinions on the DLC.

(32m 56s) Kevin:

Okay, um, 1st of all, adding the mechanic of diving for free, that is pretty cool.

(33m 1s)

Um, I don’t know.

(33m 2s) Al:

Yep.

(33m 4s) Kevin:

If these the existing towns are really built for it.

(33m 7s)

Obviously, Bleak Beach has a lot of water.

(33m 9s)

Um, so that will be cool to explore, see and do.

(33m 12s)

Um, I’ll throw you around with that.

(33m 14s)

So good for them for releasing that.

(33m 16s)

Um,

(33m 17s) Al:

My question is going to be how it’s going to feel, how it’s, how building underwater is going to work, right?

(33m 21s)

Because if you currently try and build underwater.

(33m 23s)

It like takes the water away from the block and then if you break the block, the water’s weird.

(33m 27s) Kevin:

And causes problems.

(33m 28s)

Yep.

(33m 29s) Al:

So have they are they going to fix that?

(33m 31s) Kevin:

I’m assuming so because that’s that is a big problem.

(33m 34s) Al:

Yeah.

(33m 34s) Kevin:

Um, and that doesn’t work.

(33m 36s)

So I’m assuming they’ll fix that.

(33m 38s)

I trust them.

(33m 39s)

Um, but yeah, we’ll see when it drops.

(33m 41s)

very excited.

(33m 42s)

Um, yeah, I’ll make some underwater stuff.

(33m 44s)

Obviously won’t feel quite the same without the uh, the, the proper town on all the items there that are made for underwater, but uh, But uh, we’ll see what I do.

(33m 53s)

create a little underwater village for Piplup or whatever.

(33m 55s)

Um, okay, now for the expansion pass.

(33m 58s)

I mean, uh, well, it’s cerulean.

(34m 2s)

So obviously we, people could tell, I looked it up right away.

(34m 6s)

Yes, that is cerulean city underwater.

(34m 7s)

Um, matches the leak.

(34m 10s)

Uh, very cool.

(34m 12s)

Uh, that means we’ll be able to probably see Cerulean cave.

(34m 16s)

I don’t know what will be in there, but uh, I’m hoping.

(34m 18s) Al:

There’s got to be something.

(34m 19s)

They’re so good at these dregs in this game.

(34m 21s) Kevin:

Yeah they are.

(34m 21s) Al:

There’s got to be something.

(34m 23s)

Like, we’ll find a master ball somewhere or something like that.

(34m 26s) Kevin:

We’ll find we’ll find Mew 3.

(34m 30s)

Um, but…

(34m 32s) Al:

Well, it’s interesting because we, do you think, I mean, it could be something like we just, away, no, because you do get muted to move in eventually, don’t you?

(34m 39s)

if you encounter a 2nd time.

(34m 40s) Kevin:

Yeah, you can.

(34m 40s)

Yeah.

(34m 42s) Al:

I was wondering whether you might just encounter M2 again, but no, I forgot about that.

(34m 42s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(34m 43s)

Well, now you can shove in the cave.

(34m 45s)

Yeah.

(34m 46s) Al:

You’ve already got me to.

(34m 47s)

You already gotten.

(34m 47s) Kevin:

Yeah, you get the armoured mute too.

(34m 50s)

where you find his armour.

(34m 51s) Al:

Oh, well, okay.

(34m 53s)

Perpin and that.

(34m 54s) Kevin:

Okay.

(34m 54s) Al:

We’ll come back to that.

(34m 56s)

Yeah, so there’s a civilian one and then there’s a new features which we don’t have a lot of information about.

(35m 1s)

What’s your feeling on that?

(35m 1s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(35m 2s)

Um.

(35m 3s) Al:

Like, because that sounds like there’s going to be features that aren’t for free, you’re only in the DLC.

(35m 8s)

Interesting that one of the packs is not going to be a new area.

(35m 11s) Kevin:

I think if I, it’s tough because it’s already so feature rich, right?

(35m 16s)

What do you add?

(35m 17s)

And that’s not the underwater stuff that’s already for free.

(35m 20s)

Um, my guess, uh, and maybe this is aiming a little high.

(35m 25s)

Um, another cloud island or something or an expansion to that or something.

(35m 29s)

Um, because there’s,

(35m 31s) Al:

That would feel weird to be locked behind it.

(35m 34s) Kevin:

It would be, which is why I think a separate one, um, but with all these new, because here’s the thing, even after we’re said and done, we have all the DLC.

(35m 43s)

Um, I would imagine the Cloud Island still just going to spawn with the base game biomes and stuff, right?

(35m 50s)

Um, and presumably we’re going to get other biome.

(35m 53s) Al:

Oh, so like a a cloud island based on the new…

(35m 58s) Kevin:

Yes.

(35m 58s)

Or they can spawn a little bit of everything, stuff like that.

(35m 59s) Al:

An underwater cloud island.

(36m 1s) Kevin:

Mm-hmm.

(36m 2s)

And so on and so forth.

(36m 3s) Al:

I’d like an offline cloud island.

(36m 4s) Kevin:

That would be good too.

(36m 4s) Al:

I know that sounds silly.

(36m 6s)

I know that sounds silly.

(36m 8s) Kevin:

No, I get it. No, it makes sense because it’s, uh, Palette Town is, even though it’s kind of blank slate, it’s still the same spawn for everyone, right?

(36m 18s)

You have the same locations and starting map.

(36m 20s) Al:

Yeah.

(36m 21s) Kevin:

Um, so getting an RNG, like, re-map.

(36m 25s)

I think that’s cool.

(36m 26s)

Uh, you know, oh, speaking of that, maybe we’ll actually get like real flat sandbox, like just flatland, do whatever you want mode.

(36m 33s) Al:

Possibly.

(36m 33s) Kevin:

I could see it.

(36m 34s) Al:

I’m also wondering if we might get like a creative mode type thing where you just can have infinite blocks.

(36m 38s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(36m 38s)

That too.

(36m 40s)

Yeah.

(36m 41s)

Yeah, I could see that.

(36m 43s) Al:

That’s what, that’s what, so my 7 year old Craig, that’s what he wants.

(36m 43s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(36m 47s) Al:

He wants that version of the game because he’s he, he, he spends his entire time in Animal Crossing in a, in a dream island so he can just like create whatever he wants.

(36m 49s) Kevin:

And that’s fair.

(36m 53s)

Mm-hmm.

(36m 55s) Al:

He doesn’t want to do the building up and the gathering and stuff.

(36m 58s)

He just.

(37m) Kevin:

Yeah.

(37m)

Yeah, no, that’s fair.

(37m 2s)

Um, and that does seem something they could add.

(37m 6s)

So yeah, who knows?

(37m 7s)

We’ll see.

(37m 8s)

It is very curious because for this expansion pass, having one of the updates being just features, yes, it’s got to be something of note, you would hope, right?

(37m 17s) Al:

Yeah.

(37m 17s) Kevin:

We’ll see.

(37m 19s)

Yeah, I don’t know.

(37m 21s)

Um, the big question I have, uh, how big are these Polkadex is gonna be, right?

(37m 26s)

How many, you know, we’re going to get this new town.

(37m 28s) Al:

Yeah.

(37m 30s) Kevin:

I don’t think we’re going to get a what, what?

(37m 32s)

What’s quarter, 300, like 75.

(37m 35s)

75 new Pokemon.

(37m 36s)

That be a lot, right?

(37m 37s)

So, um, I’m curious to.

(37m 38s) Al:

Yeah.

(37m 38s)

But it’s got to feel it’s got to feel decent though, for you to buy it.

(37m 41s) Kevin:

It does have to feel decent.

(37m 43s)

I, it’s got to be 50s stuff.

(37m 45s)

It’s really big.

(37m 46s)

Um, with only, but here’s the thing, 20 spot.

(37m 49s)

at a time, right?

(37m 50s)

So, like, it’s got to be at least 40, I think, just so it feels like it’s mixing up and it’s not the same 20 Pokemon.

(37m 58s)

Um, but we’ll see.

(38m)

Um, Uh, obviously, so, you know, all that’s cool.

(38m 4s)

Um, very excited to see what costumes you’ll get uh, and so on and so, yeah.

(38m 9s)

But I think everyone’s, well, not everyone will save me.

(38m 13s)

Um, I think the big question is, okay, looking to the future, right?

(38m 17s)

First of all, what’s coming in wave three, right?

(38m 20s)

What town is that going to be?

(38m 21s)

And, you know, we could guess, um, my money’s on lavender.

(38m 22s) Al:

Yeah.

(38m 29s)

Well, so I think, yeah, I think it either ends up being something like that or if they have decided that it’s just going to be one expansion pack, then it’ll be victory road, right?

(38m 42s) Kevin:

It would be the final.

(38m 43s)

Well, no, no, no.

(38m 43s)

Actually, I take it back.

(38m 44s)

I take it back.

(38m 45s)

We need snow.

(38m 46s)

We still don’t have a snow bile.

(38m 48s) Al:

Where’s Snowy?

(38m 48s) Kevin:

Where’s the snow?

(38m 49s) Al:

Nowhere’s snowy Encanto.

(38m 51s) Kevin:

Yeah, that’s the problem.

(38m 52s)

Well, but the environmental screwy, right?

(38m 53s) Al:

Oh, that’s a good point.

(38m 55s) Kevin:

So…

(38m 55s)

You can pick whatever.

(38m 56s) Al:

Lavender Town could be snowy.

(38m 58s) Kevin:

Loavender town could be snowy, frozen cemetery.

(39m 1s)

Um, Frozen ghosts.

(39m 2s) Al:

Frozen Ghost.

(39m 4s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(39m 5s) Al:

Got to get, got to get the, the, got to get the snow run line in there.

(39m 5s) Kevin:

Uh, yeah, yeah, something like that.

(39m 11s)

Yeah.

(39m 11s)

So there you go.

(39m 13s)

Um, so I, I, I think we’ll see snow, whether it’s Lavender Town or another location, I don’t know, Cinnabar and the Seafoam Island.

(39m 21s)

Who knows?

(39m 22s)

Um, that that would kind of go hand in hand with the underwater thing too, but, um, I think.

(39m 26s) Al:

Yeah, but it would also feel quite samey, I think, if you did.

(39m 27s) Kevin:

Yeah, you’re right, you’re right.

(39m 30s)

too much water.

(39m 30s)

7.8 out of 10, too much water.

(39m 33s)

Um, Well, either way, snow, I’m following it here.

(39m 36s)

Way through, whatever it is, it’s going to be snow.

(39m 37s)

Um, but then the big question.

(39m 39s)

At this point, are they going to do another expansion pass and just go for all of Canto, right?

(39m 45s) Al:

Yeah.

(39m 45s) Kevin:

Because we’re going to get close to it at this point.

(39m 47s) Al:

Yeah.

(39m 48s)

I just, I, in theory, it does feel like they would do that, but also Pokemon have never done a 2nd pack for any game.

(39m 58s) Kevin:

No.

(39m 59s) Al:

And I know, sure, you can go back to Sergeant Shield and say, wow, Pokemon have never done a DLC.

(40m 4s)

Sure, fine.

(40m 5s) Kevin:

Mm-hmm.

(40m 5s) Al:

But that feels like a big change.

(40m 8s)

And also do people get annoyed about there being 2 additional purchases after that.

(40m 9s) Kevin:

It does.

(40m 15s)

Well, you know what?

(40m 16s)

Let’s get to that in a later conversation.

(40m 19s)

Um, but uh, I’ll say this.

(40m 23s)

If there is a gay.

(40m 25s)

Well, feels like Pocopia’s already breaking a lot of patterns for Pokemon, right?

(40m 30s)

Like, um, whether it’s because they let, um, Omega Force take the reins a little more or they’re just, they’re really just trying whatever because they have to fill the gap for this year because we’re not getting winds and waves. Like, I don’t, I don’t, I think if any game with to experiment with another DLC pack, it’d be Pocopia.

(40m 48s)

Also, the fact that it’s doing really well, you know, both, um, sales wise and and critically, like, I think Pokopia is in a position where they want to do something like that.

(40m 57s)

This will be the one

(40m 58s)

Um.

(40m 58s) Al:

Yeah.

(40m 59s)

Fair, fair.

(40m 59s) Kevin:

So yeah.

(41m) Al:

All right, well, let’s talk about girache then.

(41m 3s)

So the girache event.

(41m 4s) Kevin:

I, Yeah.

(41m 5s) Al:

Is from the 23rd of June to the 8th of July, you get…

(41m 11s) Kevin:

Which means that, yes, listener, when you’re listening to this, I will be playing Pokopian.

(41m 18s) Al:

Got to get that discount he finished first.

(41m 21s)

You’ve got you’ve got you’ve got 4 days.

(41m 22s) Kevin:

Okay.

(41m 23s)

I got 2 hands.

(41m 24s) Al:

You’ve got 3 days.

(41m 26s) Kevin:

Shoulder in each one.

(41m 28s) Al:

Um… So, there’s Jurachi, there’s a Jurachi.

(41m 33s)

You will talk to Jurachi, and then you have to go and gather wish notes and to get, no, you get wish notes.

(41m 34s) Kevin:

Yep.

(41m 42s) Al:

You get a recipe for wish notes.

(41m 43s)

Then you interact with other Pokemon, fulfil their requests, which transforms the wish notes into sparkling wish notes.

(41m 51s)

And then you can use the sparkling wish notes as the currency for the things that Girachi is selling.

(41m 56s)

Furniture and decor inspired by the starry sky.

(41m 57s) Kevin:

So this is.

(41m 58s)

Mm-hmm.

(42m)

So this is awesome. Um, in many ways.

(42m 3s) Al:

Mm-hmm.

(42m 4s) Kevin:

Um, Because one, this was going to be the big word, right?

(42m 7s)

Because every time they’re going to add a new Pokemon, is it just go on the dream islands and gather the resource? That had already gotten old.

(42m 13s)

I mean, let’s be real, got old with hot babe.

(42m 13s) Al:

Mm-hmm. Yep.

(42m 15s) Kevin:

Um, So doing this to mix it up?

(42m 18s)

Bravo.

(42m 19s)

Good.

(42m 19s)

awesome.

(42m 19s)

Um, and it’s jarachi, so you know, thematically appropriate.

(42m 23s)

That’s awesome.

(42m 24s) Al:

I love the Pokemon centre.

(42m 27s) Kevin:

And that’s the other big thing, the, the, the, like aesthetic, the visual theme for it is fantastic.

(42m 31s)

It’s very cute.

(42m 32s)

Pocopia appeals Pocopia.

(42m 34s)

But it’s also girachi appropriate.

(42m 35s)

Um, Yeah.

(42m 36s) Al:

Here’s a question.

(42m 37s)

I can’t remember.

(42m 38s)

I know you can get the recipes to change the Pokemon centre theme of an area.

(42m 43s) Kevin:

Mm-hmm.

(42m 43s)

Yeah.

(42m 44s) Al:

Can you get the ones for like the temporary Pokemon ones?

(42m 49s) Kevin:

I don’t think you were able to at least not.

(42m 50s) Al:

I don’t remember doing it, but I’d be really sad if you wouldn’t be.

(42m 52s) Kevin:

No.

(42m 53s) Al:

The other ones were fine.

(42m 55s)

The hop it one was fine.

(42m 57s)

The Sable Eye one was good, but this one’s great.

(43m)

I want to get this.

(43m) Kevin:

Yeah.

(43m 1s) Al:

I want to get this design.

(43m 1s) Kevin:

Well, you know what?

(43m 4s)

That’s something they can actually just patch in pretty easily, I would say.

(43m 7s)

So, if it’s not in now, it might be with the.

(43m 12s)

Maybe with the uh, the, the water update, the free one, maybe it’ll drop.

(43m 16s)

Because you’re right.

(43m 17s)

I dont think you can actually.

(43m 18s)

But I do love this one because look at those stars in that.

(43m 23s)

Um, sick.

(43m 25s)

I love jarachi.

(43m 26s)

What a cool little Pokemon.

(43m 27s)

Very, very excited about this.

(43m 29s) Al:

Yeah.

(43m 29s)

Well, I tell you what I want for the in their new features update.

(43m 34s)

I want infinite storage that I could just throw stuff into and filter it and search it.

(43m 40s)

I don’t want to deal with all these different boxes.

(43m 43s)

Just give me just give me one black hole, please.

(43m 47s)

Thank you.

(43m 47s)

I will pay for that.

(43m 48s) Kevin:

No, no.

(43m 49s)

Bite you.

(43m 49s) Al:

I will pay for that.

(43m 51s)

Infinite interlinked boxes.

(43m 54s)

Make me finish the pokodex if you have to.

(43m 57s)

I’m fine with that.

(43m 58s) Kevin:

Yeah, yeah.

(43m 58s) Al:

Just give me it, right?

(44m)

Make me work for it.

(44m)

Fine.

(44m 1s)

I’ve already done the work for it.

(44m 2s)

Give me a.

(44m 4s)

Okay, there’s one more thing to talk about.

(44m 7s)

We have a little bit of a hint towards some stuff for the expansion back, Kevin, have you seen this?

(44m 12s) Kevin:

Wait, what?

(44m 12s) Al:

Serapy posts.

(44m 15s)

Various.

(44m 15s)

Hey, see how I I’m citing my source for this therapy.

(44m 19s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(44m 19s) Al:

Yeah, there you go.

(44m 20s)

Various retailers have posted an image for the Pokemon Pokopia expansion pass, showcasing new artwork for the future parts of the expansion pass, including it looks like Pokemon costume.

(44m 35s) Kevin:

Yep, so that’s.

(44m 38s)

Okay, I just made a…

(44m 39s) Al:

That’s Pikichu in a little, uh, Odino costume, I think.

(44m 43s) Kevin:

Outfit, uh, kind of looks like it has a little wings and a little May thingy frilly thing on top.

(44m 45s) Al:

Mega Odino?

(44m 50s)

I thought made, but then I looked at the wings and I’m like, that looks like mega Odino.

(44m 50s) Kevin:

Um…

(44m 54s)

Sure, which I think is kind of in the same ballpark.

(44m 56s)

Um, Oh my gosh.

(44m 57s) Al:

We’ve got Snubble with a little uh, little bow tie on.

(44m 59s) Kevin:

Little bow tie.

(45m 1s)

I just made a joke.

(45m 2s)

didn’t I?

(45m 3s)

Who did I say you could dress up?

(45m 4s)

I can’t remember.

(45m 4s)

Oh Mewtw in the armour.

(45m 5s)

It’s no longer a joke.

(45m 6s) Al:

Yep, you did.

(45m 6s)

As I said, I said, I said, put a bin in it, didn’t I?

(45m 11s) Kevin:

It’s no longer a joke.

(45m 12s)

I was right.

(45m 13s) Al:

There you go.

(45m 13s) Kevin:

And if anyone’s not afraid to do that.

(45m 15s)

It’s omega force.

(45m 16s)

Let’s see if Pocopi or Pokemon handcuffs them.

(45m 17s) Al:

This is, that’s the thing.

(45m 19s)

The moment you said that, I was like, hmm, maybe.

(45m 24s) Kevin:

That’s okay.

(45m 25s) Al:

I could see it.

(45m 25s) Kevin:

Um, yeah.

(45m 27s)

And what’s nice is like it, the artwork is is generic.

(45m 31s)

not really locations.

(45m 32s)

like you see the water stuff and and and snubble.

(45m 34s)

Um, so, you know, that could just be part of the wave too, just on the, you know, the costumes.

(45m 39s) Al:

Well.

(45m 40s)

So, I’m wondering whether, here’s a question, could the pink be a hint? Because on the left, you’ve got the blue, with the underwater, and then in the middle, you’ve got the green with some balloons and some bunting, and then the right, you’ve got pinkiness.

(45m 46s) Kevin:

And then there’s that.

(45m 47s)

Yeah.

(45m 57s) Al:

Pinky party type thing.

(45m 57s) Kevin:

It could be, yeah, no.

(45m 59s)

That’s when we interpret it.

(46m) Al:

Could that be a hint?

(46m 2s) Kevin:

Oh, It is.

(46m 4s)

Oh, not in it is, sorry.

(46m 5s)

It very well could be, because yeah, it looks very clear, like, big update on the left with water, middle update with green party stuff and then write update with pink, whatever.

(46m 15s)

Um, the question is, like, oh, what is, because that doesn’t feel like an environment thing, which is what you’d expect from an update, right?

(46m 24s) Al:

Well, possibly.

(46m 25s) Kevin:

Or it could be like.

(46m 26s) Al:

So, we, looking at the original image at the end of the, the 3 parts are bubbly basin, which is all blue, and then the additional new features, which is pink, and then additional new town, which is green.

(46m 32s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(46m 40s) Al:

We got the well.

(46m 40s) Kevin:

Oh, you wouldn’t say look at it that way?

(46m 42s) Al:

So they’re using the same colours there.

(46m 42s) Kevin:

I guess you could look at it then.

(46m 45s)

Okay, oh, I didn’t catch that.

(46m 47s) Al:

So green, we got green, we got green, we got balloons, we got bunting, celebration.

(46m 52s)

Indigo plateau.

(46m 53s) Kevin:

Okay, so that’s actually, oh, you’re right.

(46m 55s)

You’re right, you’re right.

(46m 56s)

No, that is, yeah, you’re right.

(46m 59s)

Um.

(47m 1s) Al:

Okay, other thing, right?

(47m 2s)

Pink.

(47m 3s)

We got the we got obviously we’ve got the costumes, they’re going to be coming.

(47m 6s)

Great fun.

(47m 7s)

I see sprinkles.

(47m 9s)

We’re going to be bacon.

(47m 11s)

We’re adding to the cookie.

(47m 12s)

bake as well.

(47m 13s) Kevin:

Well, for me, should be in the game.

(47m 15s)

I’m just saying.

(47m 16s) Al:

Also,

(47m 17s) Kevin:

Or Slurpoff.

(47m 19s) Al:

Also, sparkle symbols, are we getting shinies?

(47m 23s) Kevin:

No, no, don’t, but.

(47m 25s) Al:

Kevin, there are the shiny sparkles all over that side.

(47m 30s) Kevin:

That is a shiny sparkle that you can apply onto Pokemon. It is not, you cannot get a shiny Pokemon.

(47m 38s)

Stop it.

(47m 39s)

Do you want this owl?

(47m 39s) Al:

Look, look, I’m just using what they’ve given us.

(47m 42s)

I’m just saying, that is the shiny sparkle they use in the games for a shiny.

(47m 46s)

That’s all I’m saying.

(47m 47s) Kevin:

It’s shiny from being fabulous.

(47m 47s) Al:

Tell me I’m wrong.

(47m 49s)

Tell me I’m wrong.

(47m 50s) Kevin:

Wrong.

(47m 52s)

You’re wrong.

(47m 54s) Al:

Okay, now believe it.

(47m 57s)

You don’t want it to be Chinese because you’ll lose your life to it, but there’s part of you that thinks I’m right.

(48m 1s) Kevin:

I’ve I’ve already have.

(48m 3s)

No.

(48m 4s)

Well, here’s the thing, right?

(48m 6s)

Like, 1st of all, that, are they going to roll that out to the base game or is it just, you know, wave 3 or whatever?

(48m 14s)

Um, and how is that?

(48m 16s) Al:

No, I, yeah, I don’t know, pay for Chinese.

(48m 18s)

Why not?

(48m 20s) Kevin:

Yeah, and then, uh, I do, yeah.

(48m 21s) Al:

Okay, if it’s fashion, if it’s fashion, who are we bringing in Pokemon wise, who’s fashion?

(48m 28s) Kevin:

Um, let’s see, there’s leave, there’s a handful actually.

(48m 32s)

There’s Leivany.

(48m 33s)

Um, there is uh, fur fru.

(48m 37s)

You could go.

(48m 37s) Al:

For fruit, yeah, yeah, good one.

(48m 38s) Kevin:

Yeah, um, uh, heck, you could even argue, um, wormadam, um, making the cloaks and everything.

(48m 46s)

Um, there is, I was trying to feel like there’s, no, Sylvia’s already in the game.

(48m 52s)

Um, something, it’s another Pokemon.

(48m 57s)

Oh, Pokemon of different forms.

(48m 58s)

What am I forgetting?

(49m 2s)

Um, I don’t know, there’s a handful.

(49m 4s)

Um, uh, I’m going down the the Boba Pedia page now.

(49m 8s)

Um, you’ve already, you want to be fun, the other Roton forms, that would be fun.

(49m 13s)

Um, Oh, you know, since it’s all aesthetic.

(49m 17s)

Throw in the, uh, La Babe is in the Pavilions and…

(49m 24s)

Oh, Oricorio, that’s a good one.

(49m 26s)

Um, yeah, that’s.

(49m 26s) Al:

Yeah.

(49m 27s)

You’re just mentioning everything that has forms now.

(49m 29s) Kevin:

Yeah, well, no, but the ones that seem appropriate to like dress.

(49m 35s)

So I’m going over a lot that aren’t.

(49m 37s)

Yeah, no, that’s that’s that’s it off the top of my head.

(49m 40s)

Um, I’m trying to think Pokemon, I make clothes.

(49m 43s)

I don’t know.

(49m 43s)

Yeah, whatever.

(49m 44s)

I mean, leaving is the big one.

(49m 47s)

Oh, you know what?

(49m 48s)

Okay.

(49m 49s)

Just the general thing about the DLC.

(49m 51s)

Are we going to get like actual NPCs like named character in PCs like Pikichu or whatever.

(49m 56s)

That’s what I want to.

(49m 58s) Al:

Yeah, I think I think…

(50m) Kevin:

Sure feels like they should, right?

(50m 2s) Al:

It was such a big part of the story.

(50m 2s) Kevin:

Very exciting.

(50m 4s)

Yeah.

(50m 4s) Al:

It would be weird if they said, hey, pay for more and you don’t get any more of them.

(50m 13s) Kevin:

Crazy weirdos.

(50m 16s) Al:

All right, I think that’s all Pocopia wise.

(50m 20s)

Don’t worry, we will have more Eucopia episodes coming.

(50m 21s) Kevin:

For now.

(50m 25s)

Sorry, I can’t remember.

(50m 27s)

His name is, it’s why he does.

Disney Dreamlight Valley

(50m 30s) Al:

All right, next, we have Disney Dream Light Valley.

(50m 33s)

They’ve had their 2026 summer showcase stream.

(50m 38s)

On the 8th of July.

(50m 39s)

They will be celebrating 100 years of Winnie the Pooh with their brand new adventure, Disney Dreamlight Valley honey glow woods.

(50m 44s) Kevin:

So 100 years of Disney Dream Life.

(50m 49s) Al:

Cross through a magical new gateway into the titular honey glow woods, a land inspired by Winnie the Pooh, filled with puzzles, lost secrets, and a fair, yeah, and a fair share of honey.

(50m 57s) Kevin:

Meaning it’s just 100 acre woods.

(51m 3s) Al:

I don’t know why it’s not just the 100 acre woods.

(51m 6s)

That’s weird, right?

(51m 8s) Kevin:

Uh, well, yeah, that’s a good question.

(51m 10s)

I don’t know.

(51m 10s)

Yeah, I don’t know.

(51m 11s) Al:

You’re going to meet Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, and ER?

(51m 13s)

How depressed will ERB in this game?

(51m 16s)

We shall see.

(51m 17s) Kevin:

That’s the main question.

(51m 20s)

My hopes my hopes are high, that his spirits are low.

(51m 23s) Al:

You know, I actually, I heard someone discuss ER and being like, it’s actually really nice how he is such a famous character for being depressed, but his friends still love him and include him and everything.

(51m 35s) Kevin:

Yes.

(51m 35s)

Yes, no, that’s actually the best part, like, and there’s a lot to him.

(51m 41s)

Like, there’s this little stick house.

(51m 43s)

It’s always getting knocked over, right?

(51m 45s)

But he goes, he builds it up again.

(51m 46s)

Um, New York is a fantastic character and and I think, uh, a, uh, not a reference point for lack of a better way of saying it.

(51m 55s)

Like, a great example of, of, uh, Depression.

(52m 1s)

Yeah, no, it’s great.

(52m 2s)

I genuinely love ER for that.

(52m 4s)

Yeah, no, it’s good, good stuff.

(52m 6s)

I love you.

(52m 6s)

very happy.

(52m 7s)

Also, I know I said all the time, but I could have sworn Piglet and who were already in the game.

(52m 13s)

Were they not?

(52m 14s) Al:

Nope.

(52m 16s)

But you know the answer to that question.

(52m 18s) Kevin:

Every time, every time.

(52m 19s) Al:

This magical place inspired by the 100 acre wood was where you could was where you would spend splendid lazy summers as a kid.

(52m 28s)

It represents a new space to decorate and make your own with 4 special new areas to discover and progress through.

(52m 34s)

First is the drowsy bloom acre, a sunny meadow, perfect for napping and smelling flowers, then there’s the gloom meadow, a murky marsh full of ponds, puzzles, and rivers, puzzles, ponds, puddles, and rivers, there’s also Braveheart Grove, a dense forest area where you and Piglet will face your fears.

(52m 55s)

Finally, there’s the nectar apiary, a hidden glen filled with honeycombs where you find the source of the troubles.

(53m 1s)

To get to the honey glow woods, you’ll use the previously mentioned magical glowing tree.

(53m 3s) Kevin:

Oh.

(53m 7s) Al:

You’ll also have special new portals on the honey glow woods that will take you right to Scrooge McDuck’s store and Shea Remy’s restaurant.

(53m 15s) Kevin:

Source of the troubles. Oh no.

(53m 17s)

The bees are.

(53m 18s) Al:

Northern Ireland at it again.

(53m 19s)

Speaking of food, in the honey glow woods, you’ll be able to use the honey from the B boxes, to unlock new honey-based recipes and furniture, like warm milk and honey, honey crunch bar, poos, birthday cake, honey pot, lamp, cosy honey leaf, rug, and so much more.

(53m 20s) Kevin:

They’re revolting.

(53m 38s) Al:

But wait, that’s not the only way you’ll be able to use honey.

(53m 41s)

This adventure pack also contains a brand new gameplay mechanic, beekeeping by placing flowers around a busy bee’s house.

(53m 47s) Kevin:

No.

(53m 50s) Al:

They’ll get pollinated, which will generate more honey in the houses.

(53m 53s)

In addition to this, a fully pollinated busy bees house will double the growth of flowers in the same biome up to their spawn limit.

(54m 1s)

You’ll also be able to move these busy bees houses to any of your other biomes, including your base game valley.

(54m 8s)

Woofed.

(54m 9s) Kevin:

Okay.

(54m 9s) Al:

That’s a lot.

(54m 9s) Kevin:

That is a lot.

(54m 11s)

This feels substantial for me.

(54m 15s) Al:

Well, that’s because it’s a paid DLC honeyglow woods will cost 17 US dollars.

(54m 18s) Kevin:

Oh.

(54m 22s)

That’s a significant amount for this game that has.

(54m 26s) Al:

You can also buy the base game and honeyglowing woods as a pack for $50 because of course this game needs more ways.

(54m 32s)

You can buy things.

(54m 36s)

And there’s an early adopter bonus.

(54m 38s)

Get Disney Dream Life Valley Honeyglow Woods before the 22nd of July to receive a special dream style for Winnie the Pooh.

(54m 48s)

It is a rainy day coat.

(54m 51s) Kevin:

It’s pretty good.

(54m 52s) Al:

Disney Dream Life Valley, Apple Arcade edition owners will have access to the contents of the honey glow woods adventure pack on day one without…

(55m) Kevin:

Oh, weren’t they special?

(55m 2s) Al:

That’s how it works for all our placade stuff, but they just feel they need to mention it every time.

(55m 7s)

We’ve also got more roadmap in July 2026, a long-awaited villager smashes his way onto the valley.

(55m 9s) Kevin:

Um.

(55m 15s) Al:

We’ve got Wreck-It Ralph coming.

(55m 17s) Kevin:

He’s gonna wreck it.

(55m 18s)

Yeah.

(55m 18s) Al:

Then September 2026.

(55m 19s) Kevin:

No.

(55m 21s) Al:

We will find out more in August what’s coming in that one.

(55m 23s)

And then October.

(55m 24s)

We will get another showcase stream, deep dive into the next Disney Dreamlight Valley expansion.

(55m 30s)

Interesting.

(55m 30s)

I think this is the 1st expansion they’ve done, which is only one.

(55m 33s)

All the other ones have been multiple drop.

(55m 33s) Kevin:

Yeah, it is

(55m 36s)

Yeah.

(55m 36s)

Okay.

(55m 37s)

Um, Yeah, no, you’re right.

(55m 40s)

That is interesting, but it’s a hefty one, so I guess I.

(55m 45s)

Um, let’s see.

(55m 46s)

Okay, wrecker Ralph, that’s exciting.

(55m 48s)

But, you know, one of my favourite things about seeing Wrecker, Ralph, is how he can’t mention any of the characters in his movie, like Sonic the Hedgehog or Zanky.

(55m 56s)

Don’t worry about it.

(55m 58s)

Um, the, uh, and then we get uh, the other two.

(56m 3s)

One is a Halloween theme thing, but Jack is already in the game, correct?

(56m 9s)

Jack Skellington.

(56m 10s) Al:

Yeah, Jack was Jack’s in the game.

(56m 11s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(56m 12s)

So who else is this?

(56m 14s)

I don’t know, somebody with bats.

(56m 14s) Al:

Well, there’s other characters in that film.

(56m 18s) Kevin:

Oh, I guess they could just introduce.

(56m 19s)

I forget about that.

(56m 20s)

They can do that, can’t they?

(56m 22s) Al:

I think they’ve also, I think they’ve already got, what’s her name?

(56m 22s) Kevin:

It’s Oogie, boogie, yeah.

(56m 26s) Al:

You’d think I would know these people off my heart because I’ve seen the film so many times now.

(56m 29s)

Yes, I think they’ve already got Sally as well.

(56m 30s) Kevin:

Sally.

(56m 31s)

Yeah.

(56m 33s)

It actually could be Oogie Boogie then. Because these next…

(56m 36s) Al:

Oh yes, that would be excellent.

(56m 38s) Kevin:

Yeah, it’s gonna be, I love Oogie Boogie’s one of my favourite Disney villains.

(56m 42s)

So that’s possible.

(56m 45s)

And then the last one looks, there’s a lot of lights and sparkles.

(56m 49s)

Looks like Princess and the Frog, but we’ve, Tiana’s in the game, isn’t she?

(56m 54s)

question mark?

(56m 55s)

I just assume everyone’s in the game.

(56m 56s) Al:

There are so many that I forget.

(56m 58s)

Right.

(56m 59s)

Who are we looking for?

(57m)

Sorry, I’ve got the list of characters up now.

(57m 1s) Kevin:

Tiana?

(57m 1s) Al:

Tiana is in the game, yes.

(57m 2s) Kevin:

Yeah, Tiana’s in it.

(57m 5s)

Yeah, she’s in it.

(57m 6s)

Well, it could be.

(57m 6s) Al:

Sally is also in the game, as is Jack Skilling.

(57m 9s) Kevin:

Well, I’m just looking at that last one.

(57m 11s)

Uh, last, maybe Naveen.

(57m 13s)

Yeah, okay, it’s probably.

(57m 18s)

I liked it.

(57m 18s)

I do I think do think it’s fun to have these little guests just based off the the aesthetic they’re showing.

(57m 23s)

Um, but yeah, Ricky Ralph, he’s gonna wreck it.

(57m 27s) Al:

He’s gonna wreck it.

(57m 28s) Kevin:

going to reference the 2nd movie because you can’t talk about the 1st one.

(57m 32s) Al:

Well, maybe, maybe they might, you never know.

(57m 36s)

Look, stranger things have happened.

(57m 37s) Kevin:

If Sonic the Hedgehog…

(57m 38s) Al:

Stranger things have happened.

(57m 41s) Kevin:

No, you’re right.

(57m 42s)

Just…

(57m 43s)

Okay.

(57m 44s)

If Sonic makes it, I’m in.

(57m 45s) Al:

Do we think that the final Disney Dream Light Valley will be adding in, what’s his name?

(57m 50s)

Yes, you knew where I was going with that.

(57m 51s) Kevin:

Sora?

(57m 52s)

Yeah.

(57m 53s)

Yes.

(57m 54s) Al:

Will that be the final Disney Dream I Valley is just adding him in?

(57m 55s) Kevin:

No, but maybe.

(57m 59s)

Oh, what I’d give for that.

(58m 1s)

I’d buy the game store gets added, that being correct.

(58m 4s)

Oh, there, you know, 0 my god.

(58m 8s)

They’re going to time it with the Kingdom Hearts 4 release, and it’s actually going to be canon in both games.

(58m 14s)

It’s going to go both ways.

(58m 16s)

That’d be incredible, actually.

(58m 19s)

Oh.

(58m 20s) Al:

All right, we’ve got a couple other small things to talk about.

(58m 22s)

First up, light your frontier in the run up to the one.

Lightyear Frontier

(58m 26s) Al:

0.0.

(58m 26s)

They’re adding some small things that they want to talk about.

(58m 30s)

And the 1st up is that they’re going to have a seed mini gun.

(58m 33s) Kevin:

Okay.

(58m 34s)

Um, okay, no, no, no, that the way I’m thinking about it.

(58m 39s)

No, I like that, actually, that, that should have been already, that feels like the exact sort of thing.

(58m 43s) Al:

Well, it is being done for one.

(58m 43s) Kevin:

I want to see.

(58m 45s) Al:

0.0.

(58m 45s)

So I think I think we can, I think we can say as long as it gets in for one.

(58m 49s)

0

(58m 49s)

That’s fine.

(58m 49s) Kevin:

Yes, even that’s arbitrary, but yes.

(58m 52s) Al:

Of course, it’s arbitrary, but it’s arbitrary, everything’s arbitrary.

(58m 56s)

I think having it in.

(59m)

By the end of early access is fair.

(59m 3s) Kevin:

Fine, bear.

(59m 3s) Al:

Now we can we can argue about whether early access is a good thing.

(59m 4s) Kevin:

Okay.

(59m 4s)

But no.

(59m 6s) Al:

We can argue with how clear early access is, but I think I do think that saying this should be in is fair for one.

(59m 14s)

0

(59m 15s)

That’s all.

(59m 15s) Kevin:

Cool.

(59m 17s)

Oh, yeah, no, I’m done, I’m done.

(59m 19s)

I done.

(59m 19s)

Look, anything that makes the mech feel more like a mech.

(59m 22s)

Um, I’m done.

(59m 23s) Al:

Yeah.

(59m 23s) Kevin:

That’s my always been my biggest complaint, and this is the exact sort of thing I want.

(59m 27s) Al:

You played this game, didn’t you?

(59m 27s) Kevin:

So.

(59m 28s) Al:

Oh, you didn’t.

(59m 28s) Kevin:

No.

(59m 29s)

No.

(59m 29s) Al:

Who played this game?

(59m 30s)

Someone played this.

(59m 30s) Kevin:

Not me, Mark, our friend marketed.

(59m 33s)

I know he touched it, I think.

(59m 33s) Al:

Was it Mar?

(59m 34s) Kevin:

I think I’m pretty sure it’s Mark.

(59m 34s) Al:

Was it just?

(59m 36s) Kevin:

No, it was probably somebody else, but I feel like Mark touched it.

(59m 39s)

I could be dead wrong.

(59m 39s) Al:

Was it Johnny?

(59m 40s) Kevin:

See, Johnny might have been Johnny.

(59m 42s)

Sounds like I think Johnny would have tried.

(59m 45s) Al:

We don’t have an episode on it.

(59m 47s)

Apparently.

(59m 48s) Kevin:

No, no.

(59m 49s) Al:

Uh, sure, someone was talking.

(59m 52s) Kevin:

Was it a demo maybe?

(59m 53s)

I don’t know.

(59m 54s)

We’ll figure it out.

(59m 54s)

But either way, I haven’t touched it.

(59m 55s) Al:

Oh, maybe it was a demo one.

(59m 56s) Kevin:

Yeah, maybe it was one of those episodes where you tried demos.

(1h)

Um, um, seed mini getting.

(1h 2s)

Next one needs to be water cannon, like water, everything.

(1h 8s) Al:

Yeah, someone, so Johnny did it, played the demo for a demo episode.

(1h 13s)

Demo Bonanza, July 2024.

(1h 15s)

That was Johnny and You.

(1h 18s)

Johnny played late year frontier, you played Southfield, and then there’s also Rusty’s retirement Amika.

(1h 19s) Kevin:

Yep, I remember that episode.

(1h 20s)

That’s where I played Southfield.

(1h 25s) Al:

I’m presuming Rusty’s retirement was Johnny and Mika was used.

(1h 28s) Kevin:

That’s correct.

(1h 28s)

Um, that’s weird.

(1h 29s)

I don’t remember him playing a dumbo Rusty’s retirement.

(1h 32s) Al:

Well, yeah, there you go.

(1h 32s) Kevin:

That’s crazy.

(1h 34s)

Also, that came out of demo?

(1h 36s) Al:

Apparently so.

(1h 36s) Kevin:

What?

(1h 37s)

Um, cool.

(1h 40s)

Uh, well there you go.

(1h 41s) Al:

Okay.

(1h 41s)

I just thought it was, yeah, it’s I’m probably not going to cover all of their little posts about one.

(1h 46s)

I just that felt big enough to talk about.

(1h 48s)

Right.

(1h 48s)

mini game, seed mini game.

(1h 49s) Kevin:

Yeah, no, yeah.

(1h 50s) Al:

Not mini game.

(1h 51s)

Seed mini gun.

(1h 52s) Kevin:

Gun.

(1h 52s)

No, no mini game.

(1h 54s) Al:

Minigon is Miss Naman.

(1h 58s) Kevin:

Like, oh, is it not a machine gun?

(1h 1m 2s) Al:

Yeah, but it’s right, but it’s not a mini machine gun.

(1h 1m 4s)

It’s a mini gun.

(1h 1m 6s)

But there’s nothing mini about a mini gun.

(1h 1m 8s)

Right?

(1h 1m 9s) Kevin:

Uh, oh my gosh, I mean, that’s a, could be bigger.

(1h 1m 13s)

You can hold he’s holding a one robot hand, not two.

(1h 1m 16s)

Well, because the standard machine gun is on its own stand on a tripod.

(1h 1m 21s)

This is why it’s mini.

(1h 1m 22s)

I don’t know.

(1h 1m 22s) Al:

I just I just think we’re we’re saying it’s mini compared to bigger guns, but it’s bigger than a lot of guns.

(1h 1m 23s) Kevin:

Look, I’m not.

(1h 1m 24s)

not a weapons expert.

(1h 1m 30s)

It is, but machine gun already starts with an M, and so you just replace the machine with mini.

(1h 1m 35s)

That’s that is the entire logic here, huh?

(1h 1m 36s) Al:

Silly, silly silly.

(1h 1m 38s) Kevin:

Looks good.

(1h 1m 39s)

I like that skun.

(1h 1m 40s)

That’s good.

(1h 1m 41s)

Good for you, gay.

(1h 1m 42s)

Start light your frontier, adding what you…

Hotel Galactic

(1h 1m 45s) Al:

And finally, Hotel Galactic, some news around this.

(1h 1m 49s)

They posted endgame loop endgame loop games.

(1h 1m 53s)

That’s a terrible name for a studio.

(1h 1m 55s)

Just saying endgame loop games?

(1h 1m 56s) Kevin:

Awful.

(1h 1m 56s)

Yep.

(1h 1m 57s) Al:

No, bad.

(1h 1m 58s)

Get a new name.

(1h 1m 59s) Kevin:

Yep.

(1h 2m)

Yep.

(1h 2m) Al:

Now, I did notice their image just says endgame loop.

(1h 2m 4s)

That’s fine.

(1h 2m 5s)

Don’t call yourself Endgame Loop games.

(1h 2m 7s)

Just drop the games.

(1h 2m 8s)

Endgame loop.

(1h 2m 9s)

Fine.

(1h 2m 10s) Kevin:

Well, that’s the full company.

(1h 2m 11s)

Yeah, yeah.

(1h 2m 12s)

Yeah.

(1h 2m 13s) Al:

is the new developer of Hotel Galactic.

(1h 2m 15s)

We’re Endgame Loop Games.

(1h 2m 16s) Kevin:

Crazy announcement.

(1h 2m 17s) Al:

The new development studio behind Hotel Galactic.

(1h 2m 20s)

We’re reaching out today to share some major updates about our studio transition, and most importantly, to reassure you that the future of the game is not just secure.

(1h 2m 26s)

It’s incredibly bright.

(1h 2m 28s)

Uh, to be completely open with you about why this transition happened.

(1h 2m 32s)

The games industry is facing some incredibly tough times right now.

(1h 2m 35s)

Oh, really, is it?

(1h 2m 36s) Kevin:

We’ve heard.

(1h 2m 36s) Al:

An ancient forge, unfortunately, wasn’t immune to them.

(1h 2m 39s)

Balancing a premature early access launch?

(1h 2m 41s)

Oh, burn. With the intense financial strain of fixing and supporting the game took a severe toll on the company.

(1h 2m 46s)

Ultimately, they reached a point where they could no longer sustain development.

(1h 2m 49s)

That is where we stepped in.

(1h 2m 51s)

We acquired the project along with the rights.

(1h 2m 55s)

And focussed on making the transition as smooth and painless as possible. For us, a huge part of that meant looking out for the people behind the project.

(1h 3m 2s)

We are incredibly proud to share that we’ve brought on as many of ancient Forge’s talent developers as possible, and we couldn’t be happier to have them on board.

(1h 3m 9s)

That’s good.

(1h 3m 10s) Kevin:

Mike. Microsoft.

(1h 3m 10s) Al:

We like this.

(1h 3m 11s)

Bringing on the developers who actually make the game when you buy the game.

(1h 3m 13s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1h 3m 15s) Al:

That is good.

(1h 3m 15s) Kevin:

Yeah, yeah.

(1h 3m 16s) Al:

Do that.

(1h 3m 18s) Kevin:

Yes, but also it’s really funny.

(1h 3m 20s)

Well, not funny for the people, but like for the game, just thinking, just hand it to a completely different group would be insane.

(1h 3m 25s)

Um,

(1h 3m 26s) Al:

I mean, that happens.

(1h 3m 26s) Kevin:

It does.

(1h 3m 27s) Al:

It has happened a lot of times. Like, what’s it called?

(1h 3m 28s) Kevin:

It does.

(1h 3m 29s)

Yeah, I know.

(1h 3m 30s) Al:

What’s the big one that’s coming out soon?

(1h 3m 32s)

They just, oh, what’s it called?

(1h 3m 34s)

I can’t remember.

(1h 3m 35s)

Autumn, Autumn, something.

(1h 3m 38s)

Autonomica?

(1h 3m 40s)

Yeah, autonomica.

(1h 3m 41s) Kevin:

Sure.

(1h 3m 42s) Al:

That was taken, that was originally farm folks, and then was bought by another company, and they’re just a completely different team building it, and they completely changed a lot about the game.

(1h 3m 51s)

So it does happen.

(1h 3m 53s) Kevin:

Yeah, no.

(1h 3m 54s)

Um, yeah, no.

(1h 3m 56s)

I mean, okay, but seriously, good for them.

(1h 3m 58s)

I was going to make the joke.

(1h 3m 59s)

I can’t believe Microsoft even laying off these guys when they don’t work for them.

(1h 4m 2s)

But, um, but, uh, good, good that they hired the, you know, as mostly they could from, uh, the, the previous devs, that’s what you want.

(1h 4m 11s)

Um, yeah, that’s a wild announcement, like, keeping the project alive, but completely different team.

(1h 4m 17s)

Good luck to them, I guess, because that’s that’s going to be a transition.

(1h 4m 21s) Al:

Yeah.

(1h 4m 21s)

No, that’s good.

(1h 4m 23s)

Obviously, it’s going to have delayed more updates to the game because it takes a time, but hopefully they can turn the game around and get it up to what people wanted it to be like these things are hard.

(1h 4m 33s)

I suspect they released an early access because they needed the money and then it didn’t end up fixing it anyway and because the game didn’t run very well.

(1h 4m 40s)

So we will see.

(1h 4m 41s) Kevin:

For prepare yourself.

(1h 4m 42s) Al:

We’ll keep an eye on it

(1h 4m 43s) Kevin:

For the birth of a new concept, 2nd early ex.

(1h 4m 51s) Al:

To our crowdfunding backers, your pledges are completely safe.

(1h 4m 55s)

We are fully honouring all the car outfunding obligations made by the previous team.

(1h 5m)

Game keys and physical rewards will be delivered to you just as soon as development and production allow.

(1h 5m 5s)

We will share concrete details of the exact moment these dates are locked down.

(1h 5m 8s)

And the game’s also on a 70% discount during the steam summer sale, which is not out yet.

(1h 5m 17s) Kevin:

Expensive for an early act.

(1h 5m 21s) Al:

Yeah.

(1h 5m 21s)

But as with always, you do get the game, right?

(1h 5m 26s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1h 5m 26s) Al:

Like, it’s not like you have to pay to upgrade it to the one.

(1h 5m 28s)

So, yes, it’s expensive to get in on it, but, well, assuming the one.

(1h 5m 30s) Kevin:

Most of the time.

(1h 5m 34s) Al:

actually comes, right?

(1h 5m 35s) Kevin:

Yeah, that’s Disney Dreamlight Valley, how that went.

(1h 5m 39s) Al:

Well, what?

(1h 5m 42s) Kevin:

Yeah, yeah.

(1h 5m 43s) Al:

Yeah, remember when that game was meant to be free?

(1h 5m 45s)

Bizarre.

(1h 5m 46s)

Bizarre.

(1h 5m 47s)

All right.

(1h 5m 49s)

That’s the news.

(1h 5m 51s)

Oh, woo.

(1h 5m 51s) Kevin:

I think it’s a lot of news.

(1h 5m 52s) Al:

That was so much news.

(1h 5m 52s) Kevin:

It’s good stuff.

(1h 5m 53s) Al:

I mean, it doesn’t have what we spent like half an hour talking about Pocorpio.

(1h 5m 56s) Kevin:

Yeah, but…

(1h 5m 58s)

Hey, speaking of.

DLC And Updates Chat

(1h 5m 59s) Al:

All right, let’s talk about DLC and updates.

(1h 6m 1s)

So I’ve been thinking about this for a while.

(1h 6m 5s) Kevin:

So about the Pocopia DLC.

(1h 6m 7s)

Yeah.

(1h 6m 7s) Al:

I’ve been thinking about this for a while and I felt like I needed to chat about it to figure out what the thing is.

(1h 6m 13s)

There are some games that I will play and I love the game and then I finish the game and then I’m done with it.

(1h 6m 14s) Kevin:

Therapy.

(1h 6m 19s) Al:

And then there are games, like, so, because like take, for example, Zelda Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

(1h 6m 20s) Kevin:

Mm-hmm.

(1h 6m 26s) Al:

I played those games for over 100 hours.

(1h 6m 28s)

I love them so much.

(1h 6m 29s)

I didn’t play any of their their updates, their DSC, DLC.

(1h 6m 33s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1h 6m 34s) Al:

Pokemon games.

(1h 6m 36s)

I will obviously play every 2nd that they ever give me.

(1h 6m 39s)

Starjew Valley.

(1h 6m 40s)

I have played so much and basically every update except one.

(1h 6m 44s)

4 for some reason.

(1h 6m 46s)

I went back and played off fresh new game.

(1h 6m 48s)

Pocopia, obviously, I will do the same with that.

(1h 6m 51s)

Well, not a fresh one.

(1h 6m 53s)

I’m not that insane.

(1h 6m 55s)

But with so many games, I just will not have the itch to go back in and I can’t figure out why were your thoughts?

(1h 7m 5s) Kevin:

Well, I mean.

(1h 7m 7s) Al:

Solve my brain, Kevin.

(1h 7m 9s) Kevin:

We’re okay.

(1h 7m 10s)

This is, there’s a lot of factors that play.

(1h 7m 13s)

First of all, cost, right?

(1h 7m 15s)

Like.

(1h 7m 16s)

Yeah, you love the, Stardew is very easy to play those updates because you’ve only paid for, well, not you, but you, the theoretical player, only played for Stardew once, and you get all that for free.

(1h 7m 26s) Al:

Oh, nobody pays for Stardew once, Kevin.

(1h 7m 28s) Kevin:

Well, you know what I mean.

(1h 7m 30s) Al:

How many versions of star due to you, Kevin?

(1h 7m 31s) Kevin:

Well, the file.

(1h 7m 33s)

I actually only own the one, but, um,

(1h 7m 34s) Al:

I don’t believe you.

(1h 7m 38s) Kevin:

Okay, you only paid for once for the file that you’re getting the deals or that you’re building up that farm, whatever, you know what I mean?

(1h 7m 44s) Al:

Well, that’s a good, that’s a good point.

(1h 7m 44s) Kevin:

The DLC is free.

(1h 7m 45s)

Yes.

(1h 7m 46s) Al:

That a good point.

(1h 7m 46s)

So like, I think for the, for the purposes of this conversation, let us can, let us define these terms.

(1h 7m 53s)

DLC is paid, update is free.

(1h 7m 56s) Kevin:

Okay, fine.

(1h 7m 57s)

So, okay, so updates are discounting, same thing.

(1h 8m)

Much if the discounting update or do you, whatever you want to go, the update I just played or am playing was paid.

(1h 8m 8s)

I may not have be playing it right now at the very least.

(1h 8m 12s)

Um, because, you know, obviously that’s a whole consideration.

(1h 8m 13s) Al:

Yeah.

(1h 8m 16s) Kevin:

Um, of like, you know, finances and yada, yada, yada, and value.

(1h 8m 20s) Al:

Sure, sure, sure.

(1h 8m 21s) Kevin:

So that’s step one, right?

(1h 8m 23s)

Is it free?

(1h 8m 24s)

Um, makes it very easy to go.

(1h 8m 26s)

Mine, you know, Minecraft, Stardew, very easy to go to those, right?

(1h 8m 31s)

Um, so, so that’s, that’s, that’s up one in my opinion.

(1h 8m 34s)

Um, as for now looking at the actual content.

(1h 8m 38s)

Um, well, I actually, let me step back up.

(1h 8m 42s)

But also the cost of the DLC itself is going to be a big factor, right?

(1h 8m 45s)

Pocopia is actually going to be a pretty penny, to be honest.

(1h 8m 46s) Al:

Mhm.

(1h 8m 49s) Kevin:

It’s gonna be like, what, 30 USD something like that.

(1h 8m 51s)

Look up, it’s gonna be like…

(1h 8m 52s) Al:

Ooh, do we have the cost?

(1h 8m 53s) Kevin:

Yeah, I’m pretty sure they announced it.

(1h 8m 55s)

Um, uh, I’ll, yeah.

(1h 8m 57s) Al:

£30, $35.

(1h 8m 59s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1h 9m)

So there you go, right?

(1h 9m 2s)

Like, so that’s, yeah, exactly, right?

(1h 9m 2s) Al:

But we’re gonna buy it anyway.

(1h 9m 5s) Kevin:

But okay, but that’s the next step, right?

(1h 9m 7s)

Um, what determines the DLCU or updates you do want to play?

(1h 9m 12s)

Um, First, I think a lot of it has to do with the base game right now?

(1h 9m 16s)

How much you loved it and the nature of the base game?

(1h 9m 20s)

Um, So Pocopia thinks a very good example because Pocopia is very sandboxy and open, right?

(1h 9m 28s)

It’s very easy to staple on new expansions, a new town, and you get the warp too.

(1h 9m 33s)

Um,

(1h 9m 34s)

And it doesn’t feel out of place or bloated or whatever.

(1h 9m 37s)

Um, Breath of Wild is an interesting one in my opinion, because, You know, you, that is a complete, old course meal and experience start, you know, there’s a start, there’s a finish.

(1h 9m 49s) Al:

Mm-hmm.

(1h 9m 50s) Kevin:

There a lot in between, but there’s, it’s like very clear where the finish is, right?

(1h 9m 53s)

So when you’re adding in the updates here, you’re not adding a 2nd high rule, a 2nd map or whatever, you’re kind of sprinkling the stuff in there.

(1h 10m 2s)

Um, And.

(1h 10m 4s) Al:

Do you know what, I actually lie?

(1h 10m 5s)

I did try some of the 1st I did actually play some of the 1st deals, Steve.

(1h 10m 9s)

I didn’t pay it because I think it was included in the Nintendo Switch online expansion pack, I think, wasn’t it?

(1h 10m 15s) Kevin:

Yeah, probably not.

(1h 10m 15s) Al:

So I got it with that.

(1h 10m 16s)

But I think I think I played the master of the trials and stuff like that, but I don’t think I did the 2nd pack.

(1h 10m 16s) Kevin:

I think it was too early.

(1h 10m 21s)

Yeah.

(1h 10m 21s)

Yeah, the, well, here here’s the thing, like, exactly.

(1h 10m 26s)

This is, I think Brother Wild’s a good one because remember they came out with the whole master cycle, right?

(1h 10m 31s)

the horse motorcycle thing.

(1h 10m 33s)

Um, which was a very cool feature and update, but if you’d already beaten the game, what were you going to do with it?

(1h 10m 39s)

You know, like, you go in, you try and drive around a little and it’s fun, but that’s it.

(1h 10m 46s)

Like, that’s not a huge draw.

(1h 10m 48s)

So it, it, it depends like, right?

(1h 10m 50s)

Did you beat the game already, right?

(1h 10m 51s)

Is this DLC going to, is it like a whole new area, a whole new thing for you to explore?

(1h 10m 52s) Al:

Yeah.

(1h 10m 57s) Kevin:

That’s a big draw, right?

(1h 10m 57s)

Like even trial of the sword is its own little separate dimension, it’s all combat or whatever, but it is something separate.

(1h 11m 4s)

It’s not just, you know, kind of stapled onto the high roll map.

(1h 11m 7s)

Um, so I think that that’s that’s a big part of it.

(1h 11m 11s)

Like, is it something that’s really new or just kind of adding something on top of what you’ve already finished?

(1h 11m 17s)

Um, Oh, Mm-hmm.

(1h 11m 19s) Al:

Yeah, and I think it’s interesting because you were talking about when you went back to discounting, you’re like, what am I doing?

(1h 11m 25s)

Where am I?

(1h 11m 25s) Kevin:

Yep.

(1h 11m 25s) Al:

That is a huge part of it for me.

(1h 11m 28s)

And actually might be why Stardew is easier because I just start a new game.

(1h 11m 29s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1h 11m 33s) Al:

And then you’re just, you’re learning it all over again.

(1h 11m 33s) Kevin:

Exactly.

(1h 11m 37s) Al:

You’re not having, like, see when you jump into a game and you’re like, I can’t remember what I was doing.

(1h 11m 42s)

I can’t remember what this game is.

(1h 11m 43s) Kevin:

Yep.

(1h 11m 44s)

Mm-hmm.

(1h 11m 46s)

Absolutely, especially you know, the bigger a game is, right?

(1h 11m 49s)

Um, and also kind of depends on the the speed and the progression, right?

(1h 11m 54s)

Because, like, I should put this, like, Pocopia, right?

(1h 11m 57s)

Like, it’s, it’s kind of a decently sized game, but it’s, it’s so slow and like, you know, easy paced.

(1h 12m 4s)

It’s, It does not take long to get back in the groove of that game if you’re in a world away from it for a period.

(1h 12m 10s)

Um, you’re not, generally speaking, in the middle of things.

(1h 12m 14s)

Um, Stardew, all right, go back and do the updates, but do from the file you finished.

(1h 12m 19s)

Let’s see.

(1h 12m 20s)

Try to remember every single thing you’ve got going on, right?

(1h 12m 21s) Al:

Yeah.

(1h 12m 22s) Kevin:

Like that’s, that’s a tall order.

(1h 12m 24s) Al:

might be easier this time because I have the game completely finished, but…

(1h 12m 28s) Kevin:

Yeah, yeah.

(1h 12m 28s)

Yeah.

(1h 12m 29s) Al:

Although next time I will need to redo it because I still don’t have the, uh, I still haven’t done uh, finished the community centre on my steam.

(1h 12m 39s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1h 12m 40s) Al:

Because the only steam version I actually completed was the one Jojo route that I did.

(1h 12m 46s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1h 12m 48s) Al:

So I need to do that.

(1h 12m 49s)

I can’t be the only person that doesn’t have a community centre done, but has done Jojo.

(1h 12m 55s) Kevin:

Says a lot about your character.

(1h 12m 58s) Al:

Wow.

(1h 12m 58s) Kevin:

Uh…

(1h 12m 59s) Al:

If all the other actions I did were on my switch.

(1h 13m 2s)

That’s all.

(1h 13m 3s)

That’s all I’m saying.

(1h 13m 3s)

I did plenty of community centres.

(1h 13m 5s)

They just all on my switch.

(1h 13m 7s) Kevin:

There you go.

(1h 13m 7s)

Um.

(1h 13m 9s)

So, uh, so yeah, like this is the this is the thing, right?

(1h 13m 13s)

Like how does the DLC interact with the base game?

(1h 13m 16s)

Is this kind of my my thesis here?

(1h 13m 17s)

Right?

(1h 13m 18s)

Are you adding something new?

(1h 13m 20s)

Are you, are you stapling it on?

(1h 13m 22s)

But also, the Bayes game obviously is going to dictate how interested you are in the DLC.

(1h 13m 28s)

Um, right?

(1h 13m 29s) Al:

Yeah.

(1h 13m 30s) Kevin:

Let’s let’s talk about Pokemon DLCs.

(1h 13m 33s)

Um, sword and shield.

(1h 13m 34s) Al:

Hmm.

(1h 13m 35s) Kevin:

What was it, the uh, Scarlet Violet?

(1h 13m 39s)

even uh, uh, X, what was that game? Lumios, what I, sorry, Legends argue.

(1h 13m 45s) Al:

Legends.

(1h 13m 46s) Kevin:

Thank you, thank you, Josh Stunning.

(1h 13m 48s)

Um, the host DLC is very, like, the DLC is almost kind of feel similar in their scope in comparison to the to the original game where they’re adding new areas of sorts.

(1h 14m 1s)

Maybe ZA is a little different.

(1h 14m 5s)

But, but let’s compare sword and shield to Scarlet Violet.

(1h 14m 7s) Al:

No, it’s still it’s still the same sort of idea, though.

(1h 14m 9s)

I get where your point is.

(1h 14m 10s) Kevin:

Yeah, right?

(1h 14m 10s) Al:

But but here’s the here’s the problem is that’s the complete opposite.

(1h 14m 15s) Kevin:

What what do you mean?

(1h 14m 16s)

Like.

(1h 14m 16s) Al:

Well, like talking about like new stuff, new stuff is more interesting, but also if the new stuff is too different, then it’s a problem.

(1h 14m 19s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1h 14m 20s)

Yeah.

(1h 14m 23s)

Yeah.

(1h 14m 24s)

Yeah.

(1h 14m 25s)

Well, well, yeah, no, I agree.

(1h 14m 28s)

But here’s the thing, like, there, the point I was trying to make with these.

(1h 14m 32s)

So I bought the sword and shield, DLC, I played it, and I enjoyed it more or less.

(1h 14m 36s)

Um, You look at Scarlet and Violet, I didn’t get that DLC, and I don’t know when I will, if I will.

(1h 14m 43s)

Um, And part of it is because look at the base games, right?

(1h 14m 47s)

Again, they’re very similar in nature, those DLCs, but one game I enjoyed way more than the other.

(1h 14m 52s)

So, Like that’s a, that’s a big factor too.

(1h 14m 56s)

Like, did you enjoy your time in the game? Is it, how’s it going to impact your DLC?

(1h 14m 59s)

Like Pocopia.

(1h 15m)

Like we talk about, right?

(1h 15m 1s)

I don’t care how much it’s going to cost.

(1h 15m 3s)

I’m going to get every DLC because, you know, like games my personality now, but, uh, but, um, a lot of it is is painted by that early experience.

(1h 15m 11s)

Um, but like the ZA, that’s a, that’s another interesting one.

(1h 15m 12s) Al:

Yeah.

(1h 15m 15s) Kevin:

I haven’t gotten it yet, but I do want to get that one because I enjoyed ZI, and that one’s interesting because it’s, it’s, Kind of a new area, but it’s not the random thing.

(1h 15m 24s)

Um, Anyways, uh, quite being like, Your experience with the base team obviously is going to influence how what DLCs you get and and enjoy.

(1h 15m 35s)

Um, and again, like I said, these are different factors, different variables of play, discounty, an interesting one because I, I like discounty, not as much as Pocopia, but I’m still playing that update because it’s free.

(1h 15m 45s)

makes it a lot easier.

(1h 15m 46s)

Um, right?

(1h 15m 48s)

If the Scarlet Violet DLC was free.

(1h 15m 51s)

I probably would give it a shot just to see the new locations.

(1h 15m 54s)

Um, but the fact I have to pay money for that, like, eh, maybe not.

(1h 15m 59s)

Um, so that’s that’s kind of the thing.

(1h 16m 2s)

Um, like there’s lots of different factors.

(1h 16m 5s)

Um, and and and kind of knobs that you’re turning to to determine if you’re going to want to DLC or not.

(1h 16m 11s)

Um, let me ask you this, Al.

(1h 16m 14s)

What are some deals Cs or updates that you really love?

(1h 16m 18s) Al:

Hmm.

(1h 16m 20s)

Good question.

(1h 16m 23s)

I really like the sword and shield one.

(1h 16m 26s) Kevin:

Mm-hmm.

(1h 16m 26s)

I agree.

(1h 16m 27s)

That was a good one.

(1h 16m 28s) Al:

But part of that might be because the DLC areas were based on the Isle of Man and Scotland.

(1h 16m 35s)

So, I don’t know, maybe I’m a little biased.

(1h 16m 38s) Kevin:

Well, yes, you clearly are, but that’s okay because as someone who is not as biased because of that, um, I think, uh, I think those are good ones.

(1h 16m 48s)

Um, with, uh, and this is another interesting, with DLCs and updates and actually discounting is a good talking point for that too.

(1h 16m 56s)

I think the reason Sword and Shield is so good.

(1h 16m 59s)

It was kind of a refinement of the base game, right?

(1h 17m 2s)

The wild area doesn’t quite compare to the, the crown tundra or even the, uh, Isle of Not Man, whatever, that was armour, Ile of armour, whatever.

(1h 17m 10s)

Um, I think that’s another good one, right?

(1h 17m 14s)

Is the DLC actually adding not just like an area wide or whatever, but like, does it make the game feel better?

(1h 17m 20s)

That’s a big one, right?

(1h 17m 21s) Al:

Yeah.

(1h 17m 22s) Kevin:

Um, Scarlet, Violet, DLC, like adding the flying.

(1h 17m 26s)

Yeah, that’s that’s that’s important, um, and probably one of the best things about the DLC, but, um, but,

(1h 17m 34s) Al:

Yeah, but that was just fixing something, right?

(1h 17m 36s)

Like…

(1h 17m 36s) Kevin:

Yeah, yeah, but that exactly.

(1h 17m 38s)

That was another point I was about to get to, right?

(1h 17m 40s)

Is it something that should have been there from the beginning?

(1h 17m 42s)

This county is interesting because they’re, it’s free update or whatever, but like it very clearly should have been there from the beginning, right?

(1h 17m 50s)

Or, or like, the game was was missing.

(1h 17m 51s) Al:

Yeah, yeah.

(1h 17m 53s) Kevin:

Um, and it doesn’t feel good to pay for that.

(1h 17m 54s) Al:

I like…

(1h 17m 57s)

I like to think of stargy ones as being good, but it’s hard to pick out a specific one that’s good, right?

(1h 18m 2s) Kevin:

Mm-hmm.

(1h 18m 3s) Al:

Like, I like lots of the things that they’ve done, but is there like, can I pick out one of the Stardew updates as being like the update?

(1h 18m 11s)

And I don’t think I can because it’s like, I love this bit from one.

(1h 18m 14s) Kevin:

Too big.

(1h 18m 16s) Al:

six.

(1h 18m 16s)

I love this bit from one.

(1h 18m 17s)

5.5.

(1h 18m 17s)

I love this bit from one.

(1h 18m 18s)

(1h 18m 18s)

I love this bit from one.3.

(1h 18m 20s)

Like, I like, there’s at least one thing in all those updates that I think the game would now feel incomplete without.

(1h 18m 27s)

But I don’t look at them and go, oh, that was, that was great because of Ginger Island.

(1h 18m 34s)

Ginger Island’s fine.

(1h 18m 36s)

I enjoy it, but like, it’s not like that was a, you know, needed.

(1h 18m 41s)

And it’s like, well, you know, one.

(1h 18m 43s)

4 is great because it added the movie theatre.

(1h 18m 47s)

Yeah, sure, but like that on its own wouldn’t have been a good update, right?

(1h 18m 51s)

Like, it’s it’s a really hard one to figure out.

(1h 18m 53s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1h 18m 57s)

Yeah, no, I agree.

(1h 18m 58s)

And that’s, um, yeah, that’s one of the things, like clearly, Minecraft kind of has the same thing where they add big updates that has a very clear, like, here’s the new area content thing, but also here’s a list of 100 other things that affect the base area games.

(1h 19m 13s)

And so it’s hard to pick and choose or to kind of separate that.

(1h 19m 18s)

Um, that’s understandable.

(1h 19m 20s)

Um, yeah, no, that’s understandable.

(1h 19m 23s)

Um, so I’m, I’m thinking because DLCs have gone way back, right?

(1h 19m 24s) Al:

What about you?

(1h 19m 28s) Kevin:

Um, Oh.

(1h 19m 29s) Al:

Oh yeah, well, I guess if we’re going to talk, you know what?

(1h 19m 30s) Kevin:

Mm-hmm.

(1h 19m 31s) Al:

Sims too unleashed.

(1h 19m 34s)

That was the pets, that was the pets expansion for Simmons too.

(1h 19m 36s) Kevin:

Tell me, tell me about it.

(1h 19m 39s)

Hmm.

(1h 19m 40s)

Is that something that should have been there from the beginning?

(1h 19m 41s) Al:

That was a great…

(1h 19m 44s) Kevin:

Or does it feel like a good add-on?

(1h 19m 47s) Al:

I think it’s a good

(1h 19m 48s)

I think if I think with Sims 3, it should have been there.

(1h 19m 52s) Kevin:

Oh, oh, it wasn’t that?

(1h 19m 54s)

Okay, yeah, no, that’s that’s BS.

(1h 19m 54s) Al:

It was, no, it was a, it was an expansion.

(1h 19m 56s)

But I think with Sims 2, at that point, it felt fine to be an additional thing, but once you’ve got that, then it feels bad to go back to not having it.

(1h 20m 7s) Kevin:

Mm-hmm.

(1h 20m 7s) Al:

Like, as you got to remember how long ago Sims 2 was, right?

(1h 20m 7s) Kevin:

Yeah, no, that, yeah, I fully agree.

(1h 20m 10s)

Yeah, no, no, I agree.

(1h 20m 11s) Al:

Sims 2 1st released in 2004, right?

(1h 20m 15s)

Like it realistically was a huge game for what it was at the time and I totally see why pets were left out of the base game.

(1h 20m 23s)

But Sims 3…

(1h 20m 24s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1h 20m 25s)

No, there’s no reason.

(1h 20m 26s)

No, that’s nonsense.

(1h 20m 27s)

It’s BS.

(1h 20m 28s) Al:

That came out in 2009, 5 years afterwards and it didn’t include pets, like…

(1h 20m 28s) Kevin:

Um.

(1h 20m 36s)

Started to up, comes out and no kids at the beginning.

(1h 20m 41s)

Um.

(1h 20m 43s) Al:

Yeah, well, that’s part of that’s probably part of his problem, right?

(1h 20m 44s) Kevin:

Well, some would say that’s a.

(1h 20m 46s) Al:

Um, is he’s probably probably adding a whole bunch of stuff to the new game that probably didn’t need to be there and if he hadn’t added it into Stardew.

(1h 20m 47s) Kevin:

Yeah, I was about to.

(1h 20m 51s)

Yeah.

(1h 20m 51s)

Yeah, yeah.

(1h 20m 54s)

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

(1h 20m 56s)

Uh, okay.

(1h 20m 57s)

Um, so let me think of some of my favourite deals.

(1h 21m)

Okay, you know what?

(1h 21m)

Here’s an interesting one because, Well, we talk a lot about, or we’ve been talking a lot about like expansions.

(1h 21m 6s)

Um, But there are some DLCs that do something really different or novel. Um, and the example I’m going to use is is Batman, uh, Arkham City, Arkham Asylum, the Arkham games.

(1h 21m 19s)

Um, have you ever played those?

(1h 21m 21s)

I can’t remember.

(1h 21m 22s) Al:

I have not played them, but I’m aware of them in their general concept.

(1h 21m 25s) Kevin:

Sure, sure.

(1h 21m 26s)

So I like them a lot.

(1h 21m 27s)

The DLC campaigns, um, were focussed on other characters, right?

(1h 21m 32s)

Here’s the DLC you could play as Joker.

(1h 21m 34s)

Here’s the deal so you can play as Catwoman.

(1h 21m 36s)

Here’s DLC as Nightwing, so on and so forth.

(1h 21m 39s)

Um, and that’s pretty cool because that’s fundamentally different.

(1h 21m 44s)

A whole different character.

(1h 21m 45s)

Um, and then, you know, the whole game is his combat and and this character action, like, I think that’s, uh, I think that’s a great example of the LC kind of thing to kind of really flip the formula around.

(1h 21m 56s)

Um, Well, still being, you know, the same type of game.

(1h 22m)

Um, just look at silk songs.

(1h 22m 3s)

There’s a DLC.

(1h 22m 5s)

Um, but, um, yes.

(1h 22m 8s) Al:

Whole other conversation.

(1h 22m 11s) Kevin:

Well, I mean, it’s literally what happened.

(1h 22m 14s)

It was supposed to be DLZ.

(1h 22m 16s)

That they just…

(1h 22m 16s) Al:

I know.

(1h 22m 17s)

How much do you want to bet? The country chocolate tier started as…

(1h 22m 24s) Kevin:

Yeah, probably.

(1h 22m 25s)

Yeah.

(1h 22m 26s)

Um, let’s see.

(1h 22m 29s)

I’m trying to think.

(1h 22m 30s)

What other DLCs were good?

(1h 22m 32s)

Um, oh, you know what?

(1h 22m 34s)

Here’s here’s a good one.

(1h 22m 35s)

This one, I imagine a lot of people might not feel is happy, but I liked it in the end.

(1h 22m 41s)

Um, Mario Kart 8.

(1h 22m 44s)

Like the final version of deluxe with like DLC baked in and then another DLC that doubled the size of the game.

(1h 22m 45s) Al:

Hmm.

(1h 22m 52s)

I don’t know, I feel like people were generally positive on that because it was adding more and more to it, and I think that there were so many of them, like it doubled the number of races they had.

(1h 22m 55s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1h 22m 56s)

Yeah, no.

(1h 23m)

The size was huge.

(1h 23m 1s)

It was, yes.

(1h 23m 3s)

Right?

(1h 23m 4s)

Yeah, no, I think people are generally favourable, but I can also see like, um, getting charged for DLC twice because like me, I owned Mario Kart 8 original.

(1h 23m 13s)

I paid for the original DLC, and then I bought the Deluxe, which had that original DLC, and then I paid for the DLC again when they came out with me once.

(1h 23m 15s) Al:

Hmm.

(1h 23m 21s) Kevin:

Um.

(1h 23m 22s) Al:

Yeah.

(1h 23m 22s)

I also think that there’s a lot of issues if there’s too many, right?

(1h 23m 23s) Kevin:

But.

(1h 23m 29s) Al:

So like we’ve talked about Disney Dreamlight Valley, which has like 5 updates a year, right?

(1h 23m 31s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1h 23m 35s)

Yeah, yeah.

(1h 23m 35s) Al:

And they’re not small.

(1h 23m 38s)

none of them are small.

(1h 23m 39s)

They’re all adding something.

(1h 23m 41s)

And is that, I mean, clearly it’s too much.

(1h 23m 42s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1h 23m 46s)

Yeah, that’s a that’s almost a weird model.

(1h 23m 48s)

It’s like, pick and choose your game, which is very weird.

(1h 23m 51s) Al:

Yeah.

(1h 23m 52s) Kevin:

Um, yeah.

(1h 23m 54s) Al:

I’ll tell you, here’s another good one.

(1h 23m 55s)

The Dave the Diver, Godzilla deals.

(1h 23m 58s) Kevin:

I was, you know, you can put that across the board for Dave the Diver.

(1h 24m 3s)

And, like, David, I ever did good deal, see.

(1h 24m 3s) Al:

The Godzilla one in particular, though I thought was great.

(1h 24m 5s) Kevin:

Yeah, yeah.

(1h 24m 6s)

again, something kind of different, right?

(1h 24m 8s)

The whole Godzilla game.

(1h 24m 9s) Al:

It was different, but it was, but it felt so at home, right?

(1h 24m 13s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1h 24m 13s) Al:

Like it continued the same gameplay.

(1h 24m 15s)

It was kind of a new area, but not really, and it was just like a really nice little self-contained story that you could do when you’re not too far through the game and I thought it was really fun.

(1h 24m 19s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1h 24m 27s)

Yeah, no, I agree.

(1h 24m 28s)

No, that was a great one.

(1h 24m 29s)

It’s too bad it’s limited to time.

(1h 24m 31s) Al:

That’s a whole other point, a whole other conversation.

(1h 24m 34s)

I don’t think we have time to get into that again.

(1h 24m 35s) Kevin:

Yeah, yeah.

(1h 24m 36s)

No, no, we don’t.

(1h 24m 39s)

Oh, good good stuff.

(1h 24m 41s)

Um.

(1h 24m 42s) Al:

Right, okay.

(1h 24m 43s)

So I came into this conversation being like, why do I only play some DLCs and some updates?

(1h 24m 48s)

And the answer is because of many reasons.

(1h 24m 52s) Kevin:

Yeah, basically, I mean, it’s a complex, and part of it is like people, over the years, companies have done it in different ways, right?

(1h 25m)

They overwhelm you with like Disney Dreamline.

(1h 25m 2s)

Some of them are just expanded.

(1h 25m 4s)

Look at smash, right?

(1h 25m 5s)

All that’s DLC.

(1h 25m 6s)

I bought it all because I want the new characters, but it’s the same game.

(1h 25m 8s) Al:

That might be my, my, my lowest played to paid ratio, like, yeah, sure.

(1h 25m 9s) Kevin:

Um.

(1h 25m 17s) Al:

I bought all of them.

(1h 25m 18s)

Did I play any of the characters?

(1h 25m 21s) Kevin:

Hey, you probably, you selected them all, maybe.

(1h 25m 26s) Al:

Maybe. I played piranha plant.

(1h 25m 26s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1h 25m 28s) Al:

I, I, I, I, Piranha Plant was my main for a while, but uh, I wasn’t playing as Steve, you know.

(1h 25m 36s) Kevin:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

(1h 25m 38s)

No, I get that.

(1h 25m 39s)

That’s fine.

(1h 25m 39s)

Um, but then you’ve also got Atlas.

(1h 25m 43s)

DLC is baked into a whole new version of the game.

(1h 25m 45s)

buy it and play it again, loser.

(1h 25m 47s) Al:

Well, I mean, that’s what Pokemon did for ages, right?

(1h 25m 50s) Kevin:

Yeah, Dad, you’re right.

(1h 25m 50s) Al:

I, I, this is this is why anytime anybody complains about the DLC over the 3rd versions, I’m just like, no, I do not want to go back to that, right?

(1h 26m)

Like it’s having having to buy a whole different game and replay the whole game just to get the…

(1h 26m 1s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1h 26m 7s) Al:

No, I don’t want to go back to that and I don’t understand why you would want.

(1h 26m 10s)

to

(1h 26m 11s) Kevin:

Yeah.

(1h 26m 14s)

Well, there you go.

(1h 26m 15s) Al:

That’s definitely the worst version of DLC.

(1h 26m 16s)

Don’t do it.

(1h 26m 18s) Kevin:

Absolutely.

(1h 26m 18s) Al:

Don’t do it.

(1h 26m 18s) Kevin:

Don’t do that.

(1h 26m 19s)

I think they’re good.

(1h 26m 21s)

I think everyone’s getting away from.

(1h 26m 25s)

Um, Yeah.

(1h 26m 26s) Al:

All right, well, I feel like we’re kind of kind of there with that.

(1h 26m 27s) Kevin:

There you go.

(1h 26m 29s) Al:

Like, yeah, DLC’s sometimes fun, sometimes not.

(1h 26m 34s) Kevin:

How do you buy? DLC is good when it’s good.

(1h 26m 39s)

Look what we say.

(1h 26m 40s)

Uh.

(1h 26m 41s) Al:

And tune in in a future episode to find out about Discounties one and how good it was.

(1h 26m 45s) Kevin:

Yeah, boy, do I have thoughts?

(1h 26m 47s)

That’s, yeah, okay.

(1h 26m 48s)

Well, I’ll say that for the episode.

Outro

(1h 26m 51s) Al:

All right, well thank you, Kevin, for joining me.

(1h 26m 53s)

Is there anything you would like to share with the audience?

(1h 26m 54s) Kevin:

Thank you all for having me on.

(1h 26m 55s)

Uh, no, no, you know what, this episode’s all right.

(1h 26m 59s)

worried about falling up Chelsea because dang, you guys knocked out a banger, but good job. DLC talk is something.

(1h 27m 6s)

Um, but now I got nothing.

(1h 27m 8s)

Cooper has, whatever.

(1h 27m 9s)

Go find me where it.

(1h 28m 3s) Al:

This week we also talked about a new Stonehenge or an old Stonehenge.

(1h 28m 7s) Kevin:

Oh yeah, that was speaking of DLC.

(1h 28m 11s) Al:

It’s not really DLC.

(1h 28m 13s) Kevin:

Yeah, sequel, that was more of a sequel.

(1h 28m 13s) Al:

uh, it’s it’s a sequel.

(1h 28m 16s) Kevin:

Stonehenge 2.

(1h 28m 16s) Al:

Yeah, yeah, exactly.

(1h 28m 20s)

All right, that’s everything.

(1h 28m 21s)

Thank you, Kevin, for joining me again.

(1h 28m 22s) Kevin:

(1h 29m 3s) Kevin:

I can’t, you know what?

(1h 29m 4s)

I’ve been talking about Ozma for weeks and we talk about DLC and I didn’t even mention. Socking is free DLC and Ozma, and yes, I’m playing with this.

(1h 29m 11s)

That’s why I’m still playing Asuma Sock, and I’m rolling.

(1h 29m 12s) Al:

Oh yeah, I forgot about that.

(1h 29m 14s) Kevin:

I’m rolling around sock, and you can’t befriend her.

(1h 29m 17s)

You can’t change your equipment, but it’s full on sock and with voice lines.

(1h 29m 20s)

It’s amazing.

(1h 29m 21s)

Great.

(1h 29m 22s) Al:

Nice.

(1h 29m 22s) Kevin:

I get to play a game of all.

(1h 29m 24s)

Okay, that’s all.
